When i was in Japan this year, i got stopped outside a used clothes store by a 40 sum year old man and he was offering to buy me clothes. I thought he was gonna try sum...."sweet" stuff but he started talking about how his mom was Korean and how she was treated bad and how he was treated bad and was an outsider. He was drunk at noon lol but i couldn't tell he was half, Japanese sounded native too. It's crazy even he had to deal stuff like that when he isn't an obvious foreigner like me.

They really don’t like Chinese and Korean people here. There’s a lot of talk about black and white people because we’re the ones that use TH-cam and we talk about our feelings a lot more openly than they do BUT the REAL racism here happens with Chinese and Korean people. If you’re not 100% Japanese AND born and raised in Japan you’re a foreigner to Japanese people. I actually made a video that hasn’t been edited about this topic when it comes to dating other Asians but it goes for friendships and work too. Even the media ignores Asian tourists in favor of both black and white foreigners. As a black person it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around the thought of having privilege but in Japan I actually do to a certain extent.
They don’t even realize that this way of thinking is racist. I made this video too soon though. I just had a burger at a new moderately priced restaurant and had the worse service there of course because the staff assumed that I was a dumb foreigner. They were literally talking about me right in my face I was shocked. They treated me badly because I told them they messed up our order it was just missing fries. Too long of a story for here so I’ll complain in a live stream eventually but they’d have NEVER done that to a Japanese person. I hate this stereotype mindset that foreigners are bad customers and staff and Japanese do everything perfectly and they’re pleasant to serve. I worked at a cafe and restaurant and at both places my worst customers were Japanese salarymen.
They will gladly take money from Chinese and Korean people but they don’t like sitting in a restaurant with them or being served by them.
I have never seen an American complain in a review at a sushi restaurant that there’s a lot of Asians there if anything we feel like the food will be more authentic if actual Asians are eating there.
How do you go to an American restaurant then get mad because Ahmed is serving you instead of Taro 😭😂
You should be glad that someone needed money desperately enough to work there. I know I wouldn’t want to work at a ramen shop dealing with snot tissues and impatient angry salarymen and ridiculous requests in a hot steamy 2x2 kitchen.

@@CoMic95 makes no sense to ignore your largest source of tourism money. It's crazy. I mostly went to self service restaurants (cause I'm poor) so I didn't get to deal with much of what you have. I've had a few bad experiences though. Japan is weird lol

You’d think after the pandemic they’d have learned that Americans are not the source of their tourism money but they know it on focusing on non-Asian tourists. If you think about it there should be a lot more Chinese and Korean translations similar to how America has a lot of Spanish in products and Spanish speaking staff in tourist areas but there’s way more English specifically for Americans. Most of the Asians that come here for vacation particularly from China tend to be rich. They are the big spenders here. Chinese people often stay at the expensive places and make reservations for nice restaurants from what I’ve seen and read in forums meanwhile Americans are asking for budget tips on how to survive off of 7-Eleven and a capsule hotel for a family of 5😆
I had a best friend back in college who spent her childhood hiding the fact that she was half Chinese because her friends would say bad things about them not knowing that one of their group members had a Chinese mother.
I talked about that story years ago and I don’t remember which video it was anymore lol. It’s sad.
Don’t be fooled! I eat cheap food all the time! Come to think of it I have probably experienced more bad stuff at expensive places versus cheap ones 😅 it took you saying that for me to realize it. The same is so for shopping and I noticed it with shopping but not with food. Todays video was supposed to be about Tiffany but I noticed an editing mistake and pushed it back.
Anyway, I feel sorry for people who are half Chinese or Korean. Japan loves to steal their culture from food and music to even their own writing system but they have a lot of prejudice towards them.
Anyway we gotta catch up too! It’s been a while 🙂 thanks for commenting! I was surprised to see something from you 💝

I fixed my comment I someone typed Vietnamese people it should have said “Chinese and Korean people” they are the biggest receivers of racism in Japan. Both young and old people treat them funny unless you are the founder of Alibaba or a K-pop member you’re generally not welcome here. Growing up has Chinese or Korean is tough and it’s also hard for the parents too
