    The dirty box thing is real. I've sold some items in Japan and have gotten bad reviews for dirty boxes and "garbage" in with the product. The garbage in question was packing paper.

    Working in a Japanese company for 10 years.
    Enough freedom, learning possibilities and travel.
    There are about 160 people working in this company and 3 foreigners.
    Company does not force people to do overwork, going out drinking does not happen often.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! Every company is different, and we shouldn't generalize based on one person's experience. What industry are you in btw?

    In Japan, choosing projects wisely is arguably half of the battle (or even more)
    Last 4 years.. I have arguably underperformed in 80 percent of all of my projects... but my pay kept increasing
    OTOH, in 2018-2019,, I overperformed, but my pay didn't increase at all

    Appreciate that this a relatively new and this is the first video I’ve seen from you, it’d really help if you have an ID or something at the start to set the scene about who you are and a ending to say what you’re selling or what your angle is. The music mix is a tad distracting from the conversation but overall it’s great to just hear stories from others. I’m sure the more you do these the more rhythm you’ll get for it

      Also I do feel like this conversation doesn’t quite live up to the headline, after listening, is that all?? I’ve seen a lot worse but then if you’re trying to find people jobs in Japan, how are those roles that different? It is a bit of a “our airline doesn’t crash as much as the others” type of a pitch to potential hires (eg a tactic that drags the whole market down)

    Man I swear I love Japan... but sometimes you think on their day a day lives and seems very bleak and miserable, no wonder why people dont engage in social activities if they have no time!! Specially with Buraku Companies

    Really interesting to hear Matt's experience. However, would you or Matt say that Japanese employers' attitudes and practices are (meaningfully) changing for the better (for employees) now, given that there's 1) an apparent labor shortage, and 2) Japanese businesses really need to tap foreign markets given the domestic market is stagnant or declining due to ageing population?

      1) There are industry nuances and commonalities based on where the global HQ is, but I'd say everything depends on each individual company - whether good or bad, before and after. 2) Similar to 1 but many have been :)

      Instead of interruptions, it is more like giving the much needed background information about Japanese culture to the audience so that they can understand the context more clearly. I like it a lot. So I do not share the same sentiment. Alas, every person is different and has their own opinion. For me, keep up the good work!

    Why ask the question if you have to interrupt and add your opinion to the answer?
    Unwatchable, had to turn it off
