    Almost identical to mine, I went 3.0td6 to 4.2SC, as you say and I may have commented on previous videos that they are effortless, 40mph on the level it sits just over 1000revs but then floor it and off it goes.
    Very reliable engine too.

      Yes i remember, Your comment stood out to me actually and got me thinking . The petrol V8 really suits the RR's

    On my second 4.2 l322 my latest I imported from Canada as it was a garage 1 owner. This one is a 09 to replace my 07. They do not die they can easily go 300k miles if looked after. Repairs are not even that bad just keep an eye on things and change out all fluids from time to time. The 4.2 is “the” engine for this model my opinion.

      Wow, You can really tell when a car has been garaged, It makes such a huge difference to the body work and overall condition. I think you're right the 4.2 SC si the one to have

    it's 2.7 tonnes and the 4.2 is 0-60 in 7.2secs and 385bhp. It goes like stink but also very controllable. Yes it does drink fuel but if I wanted economy i'd get a Corsa!!

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Haha exactly! You don’t by a V8 for fuel economy unless your in Saudi or the US ..

    I've got the same and have had the 4.4 V8 BMW engine, TD6 and 3.6TDV8... Smiles all round - its the best of the bunch. Bullet proof engine with no timing chain rattle/tensioner work to worry about and ££££'s to fix. Get one and enjoy before the world is taken over by Electric cars ... ! ULEZ compliant too ! - what's not to like !

    Just bought one of these, an 07 plate 4.2 V8. Took it for a test drive and immediately bought it from my local Indy RR garage, was previously the owners for years and had everything done to it. Going to keep it, it will be a classic one day.

      Great news, they are such wonderful cars and the sound is very addictive! Enjoy your new toy. I definitely think these will be classic one day

    I have an 07 4.2SC, great car. Heavy on fuel but on a daily basis not that bad really. Pleasantly surprised about ULEZ, no charge last time I was in the area - exempt!

    I haven't driven A 4.2 supercharged But I do own a 5.0 supercharged and that is insane

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh interesting .. The 5.0 is more powerful.. i wonder if its a big difference . This one has been tuned so its pretty quick!

      @@ThatsClassiccars I want to trade my Disco 4 2.7 TDV6 for an L322. I don’t want a diesel anymore, but I’ve heard good things about the 4.4 TDV8. Honestly, I’d be excited about a 5.0 from 2011/12, but I’ve heard it can be more problematic than the 4.2 SC.
      What would you recommend?
      Thanks!

    Hi you should drive the 4.4 diesel…Economy ..plus immense torque and power..I have one😁😁

      But the 4.2 Petrol is so beautiful when it starts up.. I have heard good things about the 4.4 Diesel though

      I’ve heard they are pretty strong.. no major issues as I know but regular serving will keep them going for years..

      Have had that engine on both BMW 5 and 7 series. Great engine but it does require you to stay on top of maintenance. The big ticket items are timing chain guides and VANOS. With proper care 300K+ miles should be no problem.

    Ok first try a cayenne turbo 955 450 bhp my car blows this out of the water… however… it’s not a Range Rover and I’m currently looking at trading my 955 for a vogue sc, as I feel there better looking have good features and just better while they won’t match the 170mph top speed on the 0-60 in 4.8 seconds they just seem so much better. Now one now I’ve never owned one, or driven one my comments are purely on desire I just don’t get the same feeling looking at my car as I do when I see a rr. But it would be good to see your view on driving a 995 vs this…

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel the performance would be similar, I haven't driven a Cayenne but they do look nice. You'll be relieved at the cost of LR parts in comparison top the Porsche parts i would imagine

    • @Percy2010ification
      @Percy2010ification 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hoping the parts will be cheaper if I can stop the car rusting to death

    The people in the know are selling them because they are so unreliable. That 6 plate will just about daily ping a new fault and then i costs way past its worth in repairs. Worst cars on the road (didnt even sound like your supercharger was working btw)

    • @ThatsClassiccars
      @ThatsClassiccars  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I think if they are maintained well, they don’t tend to have some many issues in comparison to the later models.
      Seems to me, The people in the know aren’t buying the new RR’s they are going back to the L322 🤔

    • @SpoonersShed
      @SpoonersShed 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Absolute rubbish - which one have you had that let you down ? I've not had a fault on mine in 2 years - just look after it and it'll reward you like any other car. SuperCharger not working ... jeez... need your ears looked at

    • @TopCatFCD
      @TopCatFCD 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @SpoonersShed lol yeah l322 and land rover are NOT known for reliability at all mate. Don't kid yourself. Yeah if you pile money into it it'll repay the love, but that's the point. Plus more and more garages hate working on them. The superhcarger can work fine but when the air bags/resevoir/pump packs in , one of 28 is it , ecus pack up or any of the module get damp ie LCM at the door / drivers feet or just anything you name, they fail and fail big time. Worst vehicle i have owned and plowed money into in 35 years. Couldnt wait to get rid of and then it took a year to sell ( and it had nothing wrong and a respray etc then someone came to see and during test it decided to flash up transmission error. Had it checked, nothing wrong. POS car)
