One question I always have about these lists of playlist contacts or playlist submission services is about niche genres, specifically classical (traditional classical, not “contemporary classical”). I’m aware that probably only about 1% of playlists are likely to be classical, and hence 99% of the contacts are useless to me. And in terms of services, it may be unlikely anyone working there has expertise in the field, and so wouldn’t know how to pitch effectively. For contact lists, main concern would be if either a) there are no classical playlists included at all, or b) the 5 or 10 included are ones I already know about and could easily find the contact info for on my own. But without first seeing them myself (which would take paying for them) I have no way to tell if they might have any utility. 7000 contacts, or 70,000, is useless if none of them are in my genre.
Hey Damian. Thanks for the tips! This channel is great and very helpful, but why is there so much focus on Spotify with these music marketing channels, when it pays the artists a pittance and there is a ridiculous amount of competition? What about TH-cam? You can control when you upload, you don't have to go through some annoying distribution service and when you reach monetisation you can earn something from it if you get enough views. And why so much on Instagram? Facebook has worked much better for me.
Unfortunately TH-cam is paying even less than Spotify. But otherwise you‘re right about the ads as another way to make some money out of it. Anyway you should always upload your music on all platforms, that includes TH-cam.
@@elleeff3710 I just reached monetisation recently, and it's something like £3 per 1000 views at first, I don't know how that compares to Spotify. I find Spotify a real pain, you have to pay $15 just to get a single on there, and it can be weeks before it's delivered, it just seems like a big waste of money when I can put things on TH-cam for free and actually see growth.
The reality is there is no money in recordings anymore, unless you're Ed Sheeran or Beyonce etc.
