I still cry, miss Harry I went to see him ,I think in Scarsdale in a snowy night. Only he was able to make it. He played for over 2 hours and invited us to sing along with him. Such a fine person 😢
I was lucky enough to be in the front row at what would be his last show. at one point he reached down in mid song and shook my hand, he'd actually remembered me from earlier shows and shirt signings for world hunger year. I was so amazed and touched, I'll never forget it.
Hi, David W and what a wonderful Harry story. I saw him perform at our college in Jacksonville Fl a few months before I flew off to find...the Air Force. I wish we had many more songs and ' I still you remember you' in the footlights. Harry, you are Missed. David W. I am glad I did not miss your story.
PURE GENIUS!!!! HARRY WE SOOO MISS YOU!!! AND HOW ABOUT MIKE DOUGLAS? WHY CAN`T THE CURRENT INTERVIEWERS USE MIKE`S COMMON SENSE, DECENCY AND INTELLIGENCE??? HARRY YOU HAVE ME CRYING WITH SUCH JOY AND SADNESS. AS USUAL THANKS TH-cam!!!
Tears run down my face every time I see a video of Harry singing. Such passion for his songs, such passion for life and such passion for world Hunger. A great song writer and a great humanitarian. The world was a better place to be when Harry was alive. GOD BLESS HIM.
He isn't just singing falsetto. He has an AMAZING vocal range, from near-bass (compare his part on "Blues Man" in Don Kirshner's Rock Concert 11/20/76 --- song starts at 41:30; Big John at 44:40), through tenor when he sings harmonies, and up into the alto/low soprano during his solo on "Taxi".
What talent...words, music, brilliant. Nothing meaningful being performed nowadays. The cellist is phenomenal as is the entire group. Gosh I miss his music!
Such an impressive talent, the consummate story teller! It was a great experience to see Harry Chapin in person.
I still cry,miss Harry

Mike Douglas was a class act, so gracious and warm. Harry Chapin, my God, what a talent. Gone too soon.

Wow, surely lucky to be there. Extraordinary version, especially that haunting cello and Big John.
Two CLASSY guys, Mike & Harry!! What a JOY listening to their conversation!!
Best interview with Harry, hands down!
I really don't think it gets any better than this. Music from the 60s and 70s was top notch.
Wow! What a performance. Super talented artists.

I never associated Harry Chapin with Billy Graham, Ted Kennedy or Art Carney. I do now.
Great song by an amazing artist. Too bad the taped performance speed i annoyingly fast.....
There’s a second part to Taxi called Sequel. It’s as good as Taxi and continues the story.
The best. That is all
Why do the very best leave us so soon?
