It is very strange to me that Slovenia has so many regions. In this scheme (NUTS3) we have 8 “Kraje” in Slovakia, but something similar is called "okresy", of which there are 79. I found on wikipedia that you call NUTS3 units "štatistične regije" and there are 12 of them. Which would more closely match this division. That's why I feel that the quiz author made a mistake for some countries.

Yeah but it's really dumb, the Kingdom of the Netherlands is a collection of countries and not a state in itself. Considering the first level subdivision of The Netherlands are the provinces I was looking forward to the 12 provinces but no, one country it is.
To explain further, the quiz is wrong. The national government of the Netherlands has nothing to say over the affairs of Curaçao, Aruba and Sint-Maarten. They are all wholly independent countries but with the same monarchy (like the commonwealth and the British monarchy). It is the same as saying that the UK itself is the first subdivision because their king happens to also be king of other countries at the same time. With that logic this quiz would be very easy because 27 of these countries are member states of the European union and therefore technically the first subdivision in Europe.
Anyway our lovely provinces are Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe (which doesn't exist ;)), Overijssel, Gelderland, Flevoland, Utrecht, Limburg, Noord-Brabant, Zeeland, Zuid-Holland and Noord-Holland.

an easy tip for pronounciation: for Balkan countries and many eastern bloc countries, "c" without any markings on it is pronounced "ts", like "ca*ts*"; for example: Podgorica is pronounced Pod-go-ri-TSa, not Pod-go-ri-Ka.
This rule is relatively consistent throughout these countries, so just know that if you're in balkans, Hungary, etc, you usually pronounce it like the "ts" in "caTS".

      He didn't do *bad*.
But you can *definitely* tell that he doesn't speak Norwegian, Icelandic or Faeroese himself at least...
At the same time it was *really* impressive for a foreigner, and he didn't butcher anything to the point that it was unrecognizable, indeed I could easily tell *exactly* what he meant each time.
      So bravo. 👏

"Primorje" as such only exists as historical land, the county name is Primorsko-Goranska, he can shorthand "Zagreb county" into "Zagreb" but shorthanding "Sibenik-Knin county" into Sibenik or "Koprivnica-Krizevci" into Koprivnica is just giving half of an answer.

We're is pretty liberal with our anglicization rules for place names, there are multiple acceptable pronunciations for may places in the world. With other words we generally settle on a single pronunciation, but with place names the same place can have two or three correct pronunciations in English, especially if it's a relatively obscure locale.

@@zb10948 Yeah hungarian ones were chopped in half too. Like in Győr-Moson-Sopron only Győr was enough, which is only a city and not the county. Or Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, where all these things are more subdivisions to the county, so they actually represent smaller bits of territory than what the game accepts. But again, I guess they just dont want to make it a heck of a lot harder than it actually is, so i guess we can let is slip...

Greece is wrongly subdivided. The right current regions are 13: Peloponnese, Crete Thessaly, Epirus, Western Macedonia, Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Attica, Western Greece, Central Greece, Ionian Islands, North Aegean, South Aegean, Monastic Community of Mount Athos (Autonomous Region).
Also, Greece is traditionally subdivided in geographic regions as follows:
Peloponnese, Epirus, Thessaly, Macedonia, Thrace (or Western Thrace), Central Greece, Crete, Dodecanese Islands, Ionian Islands, Cyclades, Sporades, North Aegean Islands.

Whoever created that map for Greece subdivision isn't just wrong but also doesn't even exist, is just a mismatch of different divisions . And not only is it wrong of how its geographical is divided but even more important the Makedonia division for some" reason "doesn't exist and it just became part of the smaller thrace division! If this isn't propaganda and gross pushing of rewriting history, I don't know what is.
