- MY FIRST 4* LONG. We bring you another 4* event vlog as we all know how much you guys love them!!! However this 4* did not quite go to plan and it was definitely not the ending we had hoped for! We had already started editing the vlog before the fall so we thought we would continue and finish it as I think it’s so important to show the lows and when Eventing doesn’t go right as well as the good times! It doesn’t always go to plan and that’s ok it’s how we learn from this and move forward!
IMPORTANT: We did not include the footage of the fall as we currently do not even have the footage and myself and my family do not want to see it as I don’t want to lose my confidence and relive the memory so I hope you all understand this.
It’s still quite raw for me and very fresh in my mind and I am still absolutely gutted for myself and Zebedee but the main things are that we are both ok and live to fight another day!
I hope you like this event vlog as I know it isn’t quite like our usual event vlogs and doesn’t end the way they normally do but I wanted to share with you all my journey even when it doesn’t go well as that’s real life! The parents worst nightmare when their adult child goes down on a horse. I rode horses all my life. Became a jockey/exercise rider. I am sorry you had that spill. You and your horse are a wonderful team. Enjoy your 3 Day Eventing....this is what you were born to do. I have empathy for your injuries....because I have been there myself.

First and most importantly you are both ok, secondly, who the hell is doing the editing!!!? My heart was in my mouth coming up to your fall, seriously on the edge of my seat!! On a more serious note I have seen horses fall after showjumping 80cm, but obviously at this level with the speed a simple stumble on landing is that more serious. Onwards and upwards x

Ashley, I’m so happy you and Zeb are safe and well. I watched you live with awe, the way you rode those tricky combinations that were catching so many people out was incredible and so up in the time ! You more than held your own against the top combinations in the world- an amazing performance despite the fall, dressage as well. And most importantly you are both safe now at home. A huge well done and thank you for taking us on such a great ride (as always). It so amazing to see behind the scenes at this level, the highs and lows. Glad you are both ok. As someone who has always competed older horses, (early to mid 20's)I am not surprised to hear Zeb was standing right next to you. Seems they have a greater sense of their 'person'!

He looked in top form, a real shame for you to go out that way but I absolutely know the feeling! Sometimes those simpler fences just catch horse or rider off guard, happens to everyone at some point I think!

the fact your brave enough to share your spill is HUGE! Most ridders don't want to even admit it happened much less share with the world...but you feel it's important to remind us your still a human horse team and it's not always sunshine and rainbows!! So glad you 2 are ok and hope you heal up quickly. Deep breath and get back on...even just sitting is a step in the right direction!😊
*when my neice had a horrific spill she was afraid of horses so we just got her to sit on the horse(not the one she crashed off of) a started there....it took a long time but she got back to ridding.

I love that the vets are so understanding. My 3* horse is 15, and it used to worry me that on the third day he’ll be just a smidge stiff being older but they’re usually super understanding to that! Also this is my first time on your channel, I love it! Much love from Dutch event rider in the US!

I need to apologise to Zeb because I judged a book by its cover. First thirty seconds in all I saw a slight horse, large head, ewe neck and withers the height of Everest…. WOW was I so wrong!!! During the first practise round his ears were pricked he was loving every second and he cleared each jump by at least a foot, kind keen and a very talented horse. At 18 years old he really is a master, I’ve only got to 8.57 minutes and fell in love with him even more because his extended trot and shoulder in made me melt.
I’ll watch the rest now but want to say I’m sorry you both had a fall.x

So nerve wracking to watch, knowing you would fall, but not where. I'm glad you're just banged up, no broken bones, and that Zeb came away so well.
I loved him in the dressage, it was like he put his big boy pants on after last time, and was like "hold my carrot, I've got this". Such a shame about the fall. I hope we get to see you out and about again soon.

So glad both you and Zeb came out of this relatively unscathed. It sounds like Bicton organisation, medical team, & post-fall horse care were top-notch. I really admire the way you acknowledged your gut reaction "never doing this level again" then analysed every aspect eg his improving dressage score, how well he tackled the seriously difficult combinations, his capacity to meet the time, and his general zest for his sport, then concluded that this was an unfortunate one-off so you will continue at this level. You and Zeb both have talent and ambition in abundance and I look forward to seeing you progress to 5*.

So unfortunate, because you were really killing that course. Zebedee was jumping amazingly, making tricky and trappy combinations look easy, and being committed to every jump. It happens though, and was just a fluke. I've been around and worked for top event riders my whole life, and wouldn't say that if I didn't see it. Was amazing to watch what was filmed, and even though he was exuberant and perhaps over jumped and stumbled on landing - that could happen anywhere anytime, so not even a question as to if he is still one of my favorite horses out eventing. He certainly is! Great job, sorry you fell, but it was just a fluke as I said, and that's eventing for ya! Great job nonetheless! I'm glad you are both fine, and will be back at it! Thank you for filming and posting!

Regardless of the outcome, you were riding with skill and care for your horse. Bravo to you both. He smashed all the hard technical fences with ease! And it was just unfortunate that he stumbled on landing but that horse has got what it takes to go around a 5star because that course was insane😱 you rode so well and positive to and was amazing at the water 👌🏻 I think you’re both mega ❤️

I did some eventing myself back in the 80's, from age about age 10. I was no where near the level you are now. But I just wanted to tell you that I love your TH-cam channel.
