This was an ENORMOUS accomplishment. I watched the LiveStream. Only 22 completed the course. 18 retired or were eliminated. And these were some of the the best horse/rider combinations in the world. P.S. The commentators during the dressage thought Lee was scored a point or two low.

I was jump judging fence 4AB. So proud of how you and Lee handled the truly adverse conditions. You made absolutely the right decision to stop Riot at fence 4A after he hooked his front leg over one of the logs and refused two attempts. I don’t know if he misread it, slipped, or what happened initially, but we had several bad falls at 4B, and if you did not get a good jump in at 4A, you would’ve definitely had trouble at 4B and possibly would have gotten hurt. Several riders fell hard at 4B. So, from my perspective, it was an excellent decision to withdraw Riot at that point and try again another day before his confidence was shattered and possibly your leg! In all my years of jump judging at various three-day events and horse trials, I think these weather conditions were either the worst or tied with Rolex 2015 for the worst I have ever seen. By the end of the day, the volunteers were soaked to the skin and shivering with cold, which is nothing compared to what you must have felt. You know, I've wondered if retiring Johnny and letting him live the good life is going to be the saddest best way to take things to the next level. Your younger horses are stepping up for sure, even with all the odds against them in terms of weather and footing this year. Too bad about having to pull Riot up, but I am glad you made the best choice for him. You're gonna come back on FIRE next year if Lee has anything to say about it. Glad you made it around safely!
Non-event riders will never understand just how difficult it is to get through those skinny jumps. Lee is awesome!
I find these videos so helpful for counting strides. i'm a beginner, I've barely cantered, but I am super excited to (eventually) get to do jumps like this, after a lot lot lot of practice.
Such a great bond you have with your horse
He's SHARP. Well done!
You are such a joy to watch ride! Lee was a champ. I was bummed that Riot was having an off day but the weather was brutal.
You are a great competitor. I enjoy seeing your rounds. Well done to you.
I love this videos, it's just do satisfying to see you two working so hard together and getting over everything, keep doing it!
Well done to you both!!! The course asked a lot of hard questions !!!!!
This honestly was an amazing prospective to see what your seeing and the partnership you have! This was amazing! The team effort was golden! I really appreciate this at such a high level competition! You can see his expression toward each jump!
He's awesome, and you guys make a great team!!! He slid into that one fence, but he turned right around and did it. He did so good given how treacherous the footing was, and how difficult the course was. I'm really looking forward to seeing everything you guys do in future!!
I was rooting for you in the live stream! I hated how it really only showed a few of your jumps and your refusal. The rest of your test was gorgeous!! Lee really stepped up!
You certainly had your leg on him when he stopped. Good job for the both of you!🐎💜
This is an amazing event horse....bold and brave!!!❤❤❤
