- We wanted to do a vlog including the ponies as I know a lot of you have asked for them to be included. We thought we would vlog Buddy's first ever proper outing! We headed off to Munstead for some cross country schooling which was his first time jumping away from home and first ever time seeing XC fences!!!

Buddy is soooo cuuute! I love his attitude and speedy canter. I bet he didn't want to go in the water because he had clean feathers, and didn't want them to get dirty :D But seriously, such a good boy! I want one like that, only 14.2hh. He'll make someone an amazing pony and best friend!

No bits, shudder at shoes. Some are Snowflakes. A lot of bit-less bridles are very severe. Ask old time horseman Barry Hook about shoeing. Any knowledgeable horseman. Sometimes they are not necessary, of course. Now that I'm older, I think many things that people do with horses is mean. Jumping so damn high, for one. I won't enumerate. The horrible overshowing, and awful breeding practices in some of the horses is deplorable. Weighting Arab's, and Morgan's shoes, and excessive pads do hurt my heart. Everybody's different.

I just joined your channel to watch your adventures with Buddy. I could see he was getting more and more confidence as he was going over the jumps. I cringed when you went into the water..." oh his beautiful feather" I know how hard it must be to keep clean.

This is literally the kick to the teeth to all the people that used to scoff about me jumping gypsy cobs.... cobs can jump, and in fact, like this, can turn into little speed demons.
Buddy is so cute and willing, and once it's clicked into place he's absolutely loving it.
The riding school I went to had a 15.1hh gypsy cob, full hair and the lot. Most of the time a plod, but he was hunted as a stallion before getting gelded for the school. I used to get to ride him sporadically, and I mean he was just a chunky tank, you'd rarely see people jumping him, and if so no more than small crosspoles.
I had one instructor that loved to test my limits and just throw me on anything to see what would happen when I was taking lessons. One of her favourites was throwing everyone else on the big sports horses and me on this hairy cob for jumping lessons. He was..... rather enthusiastic. One week I remember it clearly because I didn't think a cob of his size and stature was capable of what he did.
They set out a simple combination, 1 stride between two uprights, should have been 2 strides for the horse I was on because of those little cobby legs. It was a 3' into a 3'3" upright, he caught me off guard and took off at the jumps at one turn. Took off probably half a stride too early, somehow cleared the fence and managed to BOUNCE what should have been 2 strides. I nearly landed up in the dirt. I was not prepared and didn't think it was possible.
Cobs really can motor and fly if they want to. LOL

I really loved watching both horses scope things out, and how hard they tried. Buddy is going to steal a young, competitive rider's heart. I'm surprised at how solid, and how game Buddy is. He's a charmer, for sure.

can admit that ditch is absolutely massive! my old pony stopped at it and it was huge, we tried and tried but we couldnt so ended up doing jumps around it!
and shes evented up to BE90, competeted up to 1.10 and was jumpinh all the BE100s
