As a (hobby) musician who never really heard of you before, you instantly became one of my favorite performers. thats brilliant comedy, guitarplay and musicality in 1 performance.
I just watched this again. I've been working on my own guitar version of this for about 2 years. Don't think I'll ever get this good, but it inspires me to keep going.
Mike, I think you are the only guitarist in the world capable of combining nailing classic song with withering comedy. Legend! And what a fantastic guitar it is!
Hi Edgar!!! Wow, for YOU to get inspiration from ME is a humbling compliment. After buying your amazing Queen arrangements and using most of your Bohemian arrangement for the hopeful way I play it I'm even more of a fan. People ask me how to play Bohemian and I direct them to your web site. Thank you and I hope our paths cross very soon.
Oh my gosh! Sir, you are my hero!!! That is just absolutely amazing! I could only wish i could play Devil Went Down To Georgia as well as you. You have an amazing talent.
I've played in England once - Birmingham - and it went wonderfully! I have a show booked in Ireland in Feb and will be looking to extend performances to England to maximize the trip and visit some friends. Two of my life's goals are to play Carnegie Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. I've played Carnegie. Working on the Albert. If you have a suggestion of venues to approach please let me know. Peace, Mike
You know, I just improvised at first, going with the general idea that the solo begins with a slow glissando, building to these high, fast notes. So, I did something similar but just picked out some notes. What I play is clearly not what the fiddle does, but follows the same contour. I guess I think more in overall direction than trying to cop individual notes, at least on this one. Which is cool because it become my own, for better or worse. Hope that makes sense.
sir, i got chills listening to this! Not only is this awesome, but you are a really, really, really talented man. wow! I've played guitar for 6 years and one day, when i'm old and gray, i hope to have skills that can compare to yours. thank you
Batman, Law & Order, Sweet Home Alabama, Beat It, Dream On, Play That Funky Music White Boy, then tapping that's mostly a chromatic ascending triad that sounds a little like Eruption. I change it up from show to show.
A "keynote"is a speech, usually 45-60 minutes which is both entertaining and informative. It's usually for a corporation/association event. I just happen rouse guitar and comedy for my speech, rather than PowerPoint and a bunch of statistics.
I saw you performing as an opener for a Beatles tribute group maybe... 13 years ago? I thought you were awesome, and purchased a CD (which you signed for me!) It had the Scotsman song, achy-breaky butt, songs performed in other styles like Green Acres performed by the Beatles, this song, and others that as a 14-year-old I thought were just hilarious. I have been wondering about you for years! Couldn't remember your name for the life of me. Oh, and my fave - the Backwards Song!
dude i just learned about you from some random site(was led here by trance music on guitar(kinda like paul gilberts echo song)), this is fricken awesome! haha was tapping my feat the whole time and laughing xD your awesome!
Ah, thank you, I actually first heard of you, when they played this song on Blue Collar Radio on SeriousXM. I knew this sounded a bit different from when I originally heard it, but I wasn't too sure.
Caleb Poling The One Who Does Things It's a McPherson Guitar with a bridge pickup - piezo. That's basically it. Now I include a Boss DD6 delay unit but on this recording it's clean.
Caleb Poling crank your truss rod up a bit so the strings lay close to the board and use light strings like 11phosphor bronze, and be certain you have goo flat neck.. adding a single coil electric worked really well for my old acousti-strat. it really was a shame when I smashed it.. was the best guitar ever and made from parts...
Tommy Lourdes The strings you're hearing here are a mixed light-medium set of Elixir Phosphor Bronze (.12-.56). I LOVE those strings. I use nothing else.
Cool... That's why you see and hear about "Stars" Walking the street at 3:00 and 4:00 am in the morning talking to them selves and running in traffic...
Can you do fret board gymenastics? I cant spell) but as you already know music is about competition. B P M octaves displaced all over space, KC Hall? is that Knights of Columbus? If so We played knights in columbis (fresrag ca) At the time piece of mind we had a band destroyer played few at KC LOL 84 85 along side other fresrag bands dead kennedys used to to play fresrag all time bands from Wait.. KC hall a joke you made? now I get it! finally I was serious.
you may look like a psychopath, but you're a musical genius.
