I appreciate the tips. Will be trying a pink jig next time. I just went Kokanee fishing and was almost skunked for the 4th time but an experienced Kokanee angler helped me out and I caught 2 right away. Thanks for sharing your valuable experience with us. Fish on!
Thank you. I tried braid and did not like it. I did like the sensitivity, but it tangled too easily. I try new lines from time to time, but always seem to go back to 10lb Maxima Ultra Green. It's my favorite.
@@FougereFamilyAdventures overall I do believe mono is better the braid for ice fishing, only because the braid absorbs water like a sponge and stiffens too much. That’s my main reason. I also like the fact that mono is also cheaper haha
@@HuyFishin I agree with that. I'm debating on putting braid on my lake trout reels to help with sensitivity for jigging for them, but for kokanee I'm 100 percent mono at this time...
Great video and info. Having good success in PG with super worms. Last 2 outings worms made all the difference, hitting 16" fish as fast as you could get jig back in water. And good size rainbow mixed in out in 50' water believe it or not. Your info on workin up and making them chase I will definitely be trying! Thanx.
If you're not seeing them on the sounder, in a spot where you caught lots the day before, then where would you go to find then? I constantly saw fish on the sounder in 110ft of water and today there was barely anything. So the school must have gone somewhere? I'm really curious to know how far they travel, or if they go shallower, etc... Great videos btw! Thanks for sharing
Sometimes you have to wait for them to swim back around. In larger lakes you might be lucky to only see them once. Check the top 12ft of the water column as well. It's not uncommon to see them right below the ice through your hole.
Hey man good video I was just wondering I’m heading up to Williams lake this Christmas break to see some family I’m from Sask I got all the gear for ice fishing and I’m bringing it all but have no knowledge for the Williams lake area for ice fishing you got any pointers for a guy? Thanks!
I have a few more videos on my channel about ice fishing for kokanee. Check out our How To Playlist and Kokanee Fishing Playlist. There are a few lakes close to Williams Lake that should be good for ice fishing depending on ice thickness. If you're on Facebook, you can also join our Facebook group called Kokanee Fishing BC. You can look up old lakes there and ask for more help there as well.
This isn't fishing to me with all this equipment. After the cost of equipment and gas may aswell buy at store. I go fishing to get away from screens lol. Anyways thanks for sharing.
It's tough to kokanee fish without electronics. It can but done, but not easily. Each to their own. I understand not using electronics for certain species like trout on a lake (I love casting spoons for trout) and like salmon fishing or steelhead fishingnon a river.
@@FougereFamilyAdventures yeah to each their own. With all that expensive equipment feels you are there more for sport then anything. I just punch a dozen holes and move to each one till I find fish! Limit out every time. I don't need a tent and heater I dress warm. Cheers
@@jumpninthedarkalley when you say scanner, do you mean fish finder or depth finder? If so, I'm not sure how long it will last, but we have had it a while. I don't see why it would not work in rivers. However, I usually fish from the bank on a river. I enjoy finding water that holds fish; salmon, steelhead and trout.

Greta vid, love kok...Nice couple of sausages on the grill waiting too :)....
Thanks. The kokanee fishing was great, even though the bite was tough. Those smokies were cooked just right too.
This was a nice ice fishing video and nice setup you have 👍🏼 enjoyed watching! I did some ice fishing this past weekend and that was fun!
Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed making this video and I hope it helps a few people learn how to catch kokanee.
If I am fishin deep in a tent i would use braid. fishing no tent I prefer mono. Fantastic video! very informative. Thank you
