    I would advise using a washable cloth instead of baby wipes for two reasons:
    1. you don't know if the chemicals on wipes may irritate your dog (they'll lick their fur after, too)
    2. wipes aren't re-usable and are made of plastic, making them an environmental hazard.

    I think that chalk trick actually refers to boric acid chalk. Regular chalk isn't going to dissuade very many ants if any at all. But boric acid is sold in chalk form and would be effective at deterring them without putting the dog at any risk

    To help with our puppy’s “resource guarding” , we didn’t put our hand in the bowl. We held the bowl and fed him by hand. There were several nips we got at first because well, he believes he is always starving! However now, 7 yrs old, in the middle of eating I can call him over and he will stop eating to see what I want then I usually give him a small treat and send him right back to his food. Feeding by hand was tedious at first but it has paid off!! He won’t even get upset when my cat shows up to see what he has for dinner.

      As a family we have a Doberman and a medium-sized mongrel, and I've got to say I prefer the mongrel's laid-back temperament; the Dobe is very much THERE. Impossible to do art in the same room, for example. But I love the breed when they settle and are well trained, which these videos really help to achieve!

    • @raymonddeflaviis2306

      @@zauberholz8357 I am considering getting a companion dog for my intact Doberman. But I am hesitant. He is well behaved inside - but another dog could distract him.

    • @zauberholz8357
      @zauberholz8357 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raymonddeflaviis2306 Yes there are a lot of things to consider with two dogs! I think if you have another it works better if they're similar energy-wise.
      Our situation is complicated, as the Doberman belongs to my grandparents and she has run of the living room/kitchen, while my mongrel stays in this side of the house/my bedroom. Dobe is 7 months old, mongrel 4 years, and has been here longer. Dobe bullies mongrel so they can't be in the same room for long unfortunately! It's sad as she got on well with the last Dobie who died a couple of years ago aged 10.5yrs. Their energies were more balanced.
      I would recommend adopting an adult dog so you can see how they get on beforehand! One who can be an equal playmate for your Dobe, while not challenging him for food/toys/your attention etc. as he might get jealous.

    • @raymonddeflaviis2306
      @raymonddeflaviis2306 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zauberholz8357 Thanks for the feedback. Sounds spot on from what I have observed when we bring his "girlfriend" over, for playdates.
      It's a lot more challenging owning an intact male. My life would be easier if I had him castrated, like so many do. But I am confirmed in keeping him intact.
      And yes, even at 7 months old, a male Doberman can be an asset for personal protection.

    • @zauberholz8357
      @zauberholz8357 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raymonddeflaviis2306 A dog similar to his "girlfriend" would probably be a good match, then!
      I can imagine it is a challenge. For their health it's definitely better to wait until they're fully mature, especially for big breeds. Personally I think it's best left until after 2 years old, though it's still a controversial area.
      All show dogs are left intact, so it's clearly something that can be managed as long as the dog isn't left to roam! We just don't go to the park when our female is on heat.

    Not one of my dogs including the newest a Doberman have I ever had any issues with over eating or eating to fast.. I always have food set out for him. My observation is he eats a few bits then he's good.. Same with my rottis. In fact, you may not agree with it but with my rottis I started just leaving the food bag open and they just eat when ever they want.. I wonder if some of these problems develop due to how the owner is feeding the dogs.. I'd like to have a conversation.. Just things I've encountered. My first time having a Doberman. I'm loving it.

    speaking about the breeding...what happened with Arol's breeding? did you find out if he's from the other male? you haven't given any info on that.

    I found out last weekend that I misunderstood breeder about DNA testing she requires. There is no blood DNA testing. I need to do EXACTLY what you asked us all to do with our dobes. I need to do the x-rays and get hip info to see how that is. Good grief. I should have a how-to book with all I am required to do before saying anything. Well, I'm learning. All I know for sure is I await every single video you do. My heart is in the shape of a dobe. That is all I am sure of.

    I always use baby wipes on my dogs especially after the dog park or during spring. My female loves to run and her under carriage is always covered in mud or sand. There also great for cleaning paws.

    Hi guys, i am planning on getting a dog ans considering a dobe.
    Looking for some advice from people who have some experience. I work full-time (hence why i can afford to keep one), so would be utilising family members/friends and dog walkers to pop in during the day and take the dog for a quick walk etc.
    A sticking point for me is i have read lots about dobes attaching to one person and needing a lot of socialising. I was just wondering how they were with dog walkers/other people taking them for walks? Would they be standoffish with walkers or friends?

    this is so good. try to balance the Nos with the Yes's . also when i give a No i try to show them a Yes. it helps them get what you want. he grabs a dishrag to play with you give a No. then I grab a toy and show them it and give a YES. it works

    Hello I watched the video and it’s very insightful, I do have a question though, one of the tips was to put your hand in their food bowl when eating to stop them from getting possessive of their food, does this also work with toys, Vis a vis taking away a toy they’re playing with to stop them from getting to attached/possessive to their toys to stop aggression over it, I know that some children think that dog toys are their toys and they could get hurt over it,
    Thanks😀

    ”You don’t want your dog to think their name is no” 😆 I really want a Doberman and I’ve been doing a lot of research just to find out everyone says different things but mostly Sweden where I live have I lot of inbreeding. Also how do you trust a breeder? After all they’re salesmen and I’m a buyer...

    Chalk works to keep ants away because the chalk particles inhibit their ability to breath so they avoid it.
