I love all Coast Contra but I felt the same way Knox felt after Eric's verse. That was one of the best verses I've heard in a while. To keep the medical scheme is one thing but damn the added metaphors and punchlines then word choice. Like damn he methodically wrote that verse.
Then the duality of the last verse was crazy storytelling. These guys are more than just rappers.

The lyrics are insane! How do they constantly come up with these kind of doubles and then still weave them together in a complete theme like this? Also, gotta appreciate the videography in this one. Great setting, great shots, great editing! Each part has it's own esthetic (as each part has it's own topic) and it still all fits neatly together.

They all went wild. Eric with the bars and schemes and entendres top echelon rap. Taj talking his talk on this one, talking about the rise and intentions if the coast, was very grounded. Rio being very introspective, talking about family and career and echos of a different lives and the struggle of reconciliation he added layers with the bars and mirrors, etc. Was phi, numbers don't lie.
Then Ras( feels like Ras has been trying to reach for a different essence of rap) he told a story from 3 perspectives, a recursive story from 3 different perspectives. The story being about three perspectives being one. With his flow, cadence and inflections he gave the story another perspective, sometimes he sounded erratic, sometimes in control, sometimes unconcerned. Thing is you can't separate what he was saying and how he was saying it if you do it messes with it's meaning(battle rap vibes). Even the 'hook' embodies all of these things. My(who?) sympathy don't ever come too cheap, pity parties like surprise parties always woe/woah it's me(who?). Who am I?...

I've enjoyed listening to oldschool hop-hop way back, but didn't really have a clue what they were saying because English isn't my first language. I'm a singer, r&b, soul & jazz are my elements, and although I listen to everything, I've been kinda turned off by hip-hop and rap because of the messages, now that I understand what's being said....I'm saying all this to say, I'm so glad that these AMAZING brothers are my true introduction to hip-hop! I've been so hooked eversince I discovered them like a year and a half ago! Starting when Ras spits @ the 18:38 mark... even the way his verse is filmed is nod/throwback to the 1990s Spike Lee style of filmmaking. Spike Lee popularized the "Double Dolly Shot" (aka The Crane + Dolly Shot). He would put both the actor AND the camera on Dolly tracks, which makes someone appear to float (instead of walk), while everyone else is moving around normally, in the background.
