Because it's kind of a waste of time. If you want your mountain bike to always be showroom ready that's fine, but not realistic. They get chips and scratches pretty quick. Also it's very minor damage so ignoring it has no ill effect and just shows how hard and often you ride your bike

Pro tip, a lot of paints tend to dry with a lighter color than you initially mixed, so don't try to get it perfect when mixing, you can make it a tiny bit darker

sand it with a block or you'll end up being able to feel a depression there where your sanding is 'finger shaped' good repair!! need to do loads on my levo but.. its rocket red !
If it's a mountain bike and it's used correctly,. you will be doing touch up painting multiple times per months.. part of the thing about off road riding

Wet sanding even with paper not designed for it gives a great finish , just dip the paper in water often and sand normally, a MUCH smoother finish , i go to 2500 grit before finishing with cut and polish , most paintwork has a clear coat which is the UV stable element , i highly recommend finish with clear then sand to 2500 in steps 240 480 800 1200 1500 2000 2500 , a sheet of sand paper is cheap and i save them for other jobs .
brooo perfect video been looking for this i scraped my frame cause my cassette isnt correct and j changed gesrs and it scraped the frame and its so disturbing
I have a black moutain bike with blue markings on the frame. I want to change the blue markings to a different colour, would it work with these paints and does it have to be a certain type of paint?
Prepares half a kilo of filler.
Uses 2 milligrams of filler
😂🤦♂️
HAHAHAHA
@enriqueamaya3883الله اكبر لا اله الا الله
@enriqueamaya3883Shut the fuck up (not your choice please do it)
I’m not sure why there aren’t more videos like this.

Yeah your right
there are but they fill it with rice instead
I don't like my stuff looking brand new/unused. If it's used or well worn, that means I love it and use it a lot.
That's the first world country for you mate
straight to the point.. no annoying intro and no 10 min video. Thank you!
Straight to the paint
I've been using car touch up paint for years, works a treat. Especially on a metallic frame
The real pro tip when purchasing a MTB is to choose an aluminum frame, painted silver, every chip goes un-seen 🤙🚀
Yes, but aluminium is much less stronf compared to the carbon
@@koliasic stronf? Never heard of that strength metric.

@Bike Is Life You need to convert it, but it's equivalent to 3.1 fuertes.

Also, clear nail polish is a very good way to fill in those cracks!
Amazing video. I’m lazy, usually just slap a sticker on it 😂
I paint nail polish over it
Good idea
Me to 😂😂😂
Prior to fill...sand first, then fill, then sand again 👍
pro tip: it will happen again, it doesn't really matter, it's a mountain bike
True but still there is a risk of intercrystalline corrosion on bare aluminium that is often the root of cracks.
When you pay alot of money for the MTB and pay for services on it you just feel like you need to sort the marks out
😂😂😂😂

A chunk of concrete would be less abrasive and more precise than the 240 grit "super-fine" sandpaper. 3000 grit is super fine 240 is road gravel. 😂
A but over the top bit totally worth it
This is what stickers are made for.
You've never mixed filler in your life 😵💫
Great job Rob..!!
Most useful short video ever.

I think every chip tells a story and it’s nice to have a bike with some scars, but to each their own.
i mean, i dont really want to be reminded of the time kids threw rocks at my bike.
You are now my atchnemesis
Trek bikes have touch up paints you can buy directly from them that are perfect match
great tip ... could I ask were you got the paint kit plz
I needed this 3 years ago. My bike fell into a concrete pillar and chipped the same spot. That was my first ever proper bike.
How da fuc…

Woah, nice video mate
My local paint supplier will mix a perfectly matched touchup pot of paint for £6.
That's super cool, can you elaborate a little though, is it a car body shop?
@@geminireviews It is an automotive paint supplier. I think they mostly deal with the trade but I have popped in for stuff a few times and they are alright.
@@T4TipsGuides Okay, cool. Thanks for the info. My canyon is all scratched up and I might want to fix that
😮 O k that's cool I have a Trek rail 5 $$😢 Can you please tell me how to make a perfect paint mashed ??
I got the army green
My friend needs this
Yeah…. Don’t do this 🙄🤦🏻
Epoxy doesn't dry, it cures.
If you use paint brush to paint metal surface it will look like shit like in this video

I'd just end up using the touch up paint I found. $2 nail polish from Walmart, perfect match to my Stunpjumper's Sage Green.
Then clear coat over it? What should we use to protect it after painting
This is why i want my bike colored BLACK
Put some tape around it to protect the frame?
When you have this problem why not clean the frame from the color and polish it?
thank you for the tips
good methode, i use a stiker for a bike scratch 😊
brooo perfect video been looking for this i scraped my frame cause my cassette isnt correct and j changed gesrs and it scraped the frame and its so disturbing
Bikes get ridden and ultimately scratched, I just let them be
I just covered my frame with vinyl.
Nail polish works for me!
Does nail polish works? I got little bit scratches on my bicycle and it hurts 😩
Scratches and dents are badges of honor.
What is "mixing paint?" Where do you get it? How much?
Where did you get the mixing paints?
What is the function of the screen that gives the bicycle
But that stone chip was weight saving.
Or...don't fix it and ride. Aluminium doesn't rust and carbon doesn't rust either. So instead of investing on looks invest on more ride time.
This work fpr carbon frames?
Sticker also works the same
Is there no clear coat on your bike?
Carbon?
If corrosion is problem, just clean it and clear coat over it. Solved.
Can you link on the item that you used?
Would have feathered the chips out with some 240/300 put some spot primer wet and dry. Colour match. No need for filler.
Hi Rob,what colour is this? is it Specialized olive?,I need some for my Specialized Fuse Comp
I have a black moutain bike with blue markings on the frame. I want to change the blue markings to a different colour, would it work with these paints and does it have to be a certain type of paint?
Did he mix enough filler?
Lots of chips 🍟 😆
Mask a small area around the chip before prep and fill so your repair area doesn't grow
They have those paints available in Flat?
How do we fix chips in carbon frames?
Like your content but BMX is better and me personally BMX is the best but your content is very good 👍 Keep it up
Just don't worry about it, you'll have another chip next week
Also can fill it with JB weld.
Does this work for carbon bikes
Painters tape around the area before sanding.
what about my stantions if its scratched?
U can now find your bikes original touch up paint on some bikes. Found my Levo Sl's paint online at a site called Rodaris.
You forgot the most important part, after sanding and paint, use clear coat spray paint, it will prevent it from falling out.
What is the display for? Also, do you know if you can upgrade a trek marlin 4 to full suspension or do you think that it is necessary?
Absolutely necessary. Just cut the frame, weld on some extensions and bolt on a 170 mm shock. So easy.
Thank you!
Bro which bike is this
these are instructions for those who only know how to hold a mouse and a spoon in their life
Or....put a sticker over it. :D
240 grit is not FINE - try 1600
Can you fix carbon fiber
Get a wacky sticker
“Ride or Die” 🤘🏼, cover chip. Et fini !

id just leave it and call it character, id be looking at the repair all day anyway
How do you like that X2 on the Levo?
what about carbon frame
Bro can you tell me the colour name ?
I want to do this now
My friend Dale has a few chips and I bruises but it only adds character Canadale on
Imagin trying this on a klein😂
tape it off 1st.
Keep them they sre battle scars😂
I wish I cared about my bike this much!
I'm glad that I don't. I'd much rather ride and maybe put on another badge of mojo.
So... You repair it like you would repair anything else: filler, sanding, painting. Got it. Thanks for the tip
Honestly I like the chips and wear, it makes the bike look more aggressive.
and faster because the bike is lighter.
Wow. Almost didn’t watch this but I’m impressed.
I’ve never heard someone say aluminum like that
Why not keep as it is as battle scar 🤔
Anna Mally atha car dhanagamnam👍👍👍
Very good 👍
Buy only white or black bikes ...you cannot fully hide any other colour...as you can see you can still see that spot 😶🌫️
Why show a different area your painting?
Now how to do it with carbon..?
