Oh and the Sea relates to a hidden track on one of their albums specifically for ARMY. They sing about how the sea and desert represent their struggles and success. It’s a beautiful song too. So much to say lol!
I also thought about the moment when JK said in Vegas concert that the desert could become an ocean, a purple ocean 😉 and even in middle of desert Army is still here, maybe he leeked it on purpose 😲
As if you’ve already thought about the BU 😂 SO it’s an anthology album of 3 CDs. The 3rd CD is physical only though as it’s demos etc. The album is supposed to be a celebration of their career (‘proof’ of their success) and closing a chapter to enter a new one. Suga said all the songs are in a specific order to tell their journey! Hope you might do an album live man!

I think it's important that I share Namjoon's letter from earlier to ARMY who don't know what's going on, because I'm still seeing this 'hiatus' stuff going around when, if you listened to what the guys said, that's not what they were talking about at all...And when will the world and the media stop being so cruel to bts and just leave us alone...it's exhausting. I can't imagine how they must feel. All that h*te and pressure for all these years, and this need to erase their discography and portray BTS as solely about two English pop songs, and expecting that same sound for the rest of time. By doing that they're erasing all their amazing lyrics and art, and personal albums like BE which mean so much to them. Never nominated for a Grammy for any of their other incredibly deep and ahead of their time songs but yes sure let's focus on one aspect. Imagine as an artist how frustrating that must be and how lost they must feel from these past couple years, when all they wanted to do was help people through a tough time...
Namjoon - I have received the most messages/calls since our debut. I saw screenshots and headlines of articles and there were a lot of stimulating words like "disband", "stopping activities", "hiatus" etc. It is not like it was unexpected but it still feels bitter to read. It is not like we were hoping they (journalists) would watch our show filled with tears and laughter till the end to write their opinions...
Festa dinner is a casual type of content and the date it was released 6/13 (and the symbolic meaning of the date) is completely dedicated to army who have been with us over the years. People outside this may think that we are making a fuss, that we are spoiled. I'm sure other artists and fans are like this too BUT we have a special bond with army as we have shared a lot for almost 10 years.
We received a lot of these questions back in our interviews (about the fans) but it was always hard to describe our bond in just a few words. Anyway, what we shared on the festa dinner was a confession to the fans that were interacting with us, the fans that never asked for anything in return. Everyone who watched the video will know and from the title 'Yet to Come', what we honestly wanted to say was that right now is not the end. Only the screenshots of me crying became viral and it's spreading. Of course I wonder if I shouldn't have had been brave enough to share. The courage to be honest always leads to unnecessary misunderstanding haha.
What I want to tell you is, we're not saying 1 when we really mean 2 (we're not beating around the bush). We are saying 1 as 1 and we wanted to share the process with courage and tears. I believe that armys that know us will understand. What we said on the video is everything as it is. Jungkook and Taehyung explained well on Live but we always think and talk about the future of BTS very truthfully. Of course there were times where we fought and were upset with each other, we started working and growing up early in our teens and our 20s and we're going through trial and error as we are maturing as adults.
Although I am afraid this message can cause another fuss or pour gas in the noises, as I am the one who shared the most, I would like to simply explain. I/we thank everyone who watched the video, gave us positive support, love and energy whether from close or far. Whether as an individual and/or as a team, I/we will continue to show the best of me/us. Thank you.
Translators said his tone was very direct and protective over the fans. And some of the hiatus mistranslation was even done by k-media even knowing what they really said. Even after everything BTS has done for the economy and industry they still get treated like shit by everyone. I just want army not to worry, BTS aren't going anywhere but they certainly need time to rediscover themselves and their decide what the group is about now. Songs like Black Swan, Persona, LGO etc are well worth revisiting in this time. They have told us how they feel so many times before in their lyrics. Sorry for the long message but I'm just hurt for them and want to make sure no more misinformation spreads.
thank you for posting this. So many Army were scared for no reason. BTS has never lied to their fans. It's as clear as what he said, they need time to re group, to get over what so many have done to them, and to get away from songs other people wrote. Also, IMHO Them not winning a grammy for Butter was a total slap in the face. Really I'll not watch a grammy show for a long time. sick of all the crap. It's my understanding they moved the realse of Puth and Jungkook's song two weeks because army was so upset. , now next week we get J-Hope, and then later in the month a album, and I hope we get to see him in the concert he will be at. They are still here, just in different ways. I purple you.
I don’t know how we (ARMY) got so lucky to have gotten such thoughtful souls to inspire us.
From what I understand, the desert and sea reference is something between the fans and BTS at the concerts - “If we’re together, even the desert becomes the sea.” I am baby ARMY so this is only from what I have read from others. I’m so sad that I’ve missed so many good memories and development from these amazing men, but if I have learned anything from BTS in my short time of loving them, Yet To Come is not only a love letter to ARMY, but a promise.

Just incase you didn't know, BTS actually have a hidden track from their Love Yourself: Her album called 'Sea'. It's likely they are referring to this song in 'Yet To Come'. It's a beautiful and very personal song, the reason it's hidden is because it's a special song between them and ARMY. There should be (rough) lyrics on yt and I think it's on Soundcloud too :)

As some comments mentioned, the song SEA (which I strongly recommend listening to, if you haven’t already) is also connected with Yet To Come. The desert symbolic of the trials and despair and the ocean a symbol of hope for better days and the relief of “making it” (like finally having water after being in the desert heat). There’s also been projects with the phrase “If we’re together, even the desert becomes the sea”, also alluding SEA lyrics, and that’s why we hear the sound of the waves even when they are in the middle of the desert. Because they are together: with the group itself and ARMY.

I’ve seriously missed BTS on here as you xD I think others have explained but it’s an anthology album which is an impressive feat for artists so young. And this mv is so clever. There’s loads of Easter eggs in it. A LOT of BU references which you got it! They represented their Run video, Spring Day, No More Dream, BU prologue film and loads more. That statue is the fallen Angel - Blood, Sweat and Tears!! You’ll love the new song Run BTS (Suga snaps) but personally hope you’ll do an album livestream. Maybe 1 CD per live so 2 lives? It’s meant to be in order 🔥
And just my final thoughts...so much of stan culture and especially idol culture is based on the pretence of honesty and closeness between artist and fans, like both parties deep down know it's not wholly real. But anyone who knows BTS properly, and me, as someone who has been with BTS for nearly 9 years knows that is not them and it never has been. They didn't start out the same way or intensity as most idols, they didn't treat music the same way and they have never done what everyone has tried to pressure them to do. They are not manipulated or controlled by their company - if they were, BigHit certainly wouldn't be letting them scale back group music in the middle of a contract, an announcement that btw caused Hybe stocks to fall by over 30% almost immediately after! Bighit and Hybe are different entities too and the guys are absolutely in control and have chosen to be this open and honest with us. Trust them. Anyone that's suspicious are just stuck in that Kpop mentality and expectation. Thank god Bangtan have always taken their own path and care enough to tell sincere stories that they know when to take some time to let themselves flourish. I know it's random me saying all this here but I don't use twitter or weverse much, this is just where I communicate most with army haha. Sorry Knox but maybe you find it interesting too!
Thank you Knox!! This album really is very personal for the fans. I wouldn't say it's put together as your casual 'sell lots of records' album. It's a celebration of a wild chapter and also a story of them and their music. Also, most times when it seems like they're talking about a relationship, it is usually about ARMY haha! That's their own words btw 😂 I'll also advocate for a live if you feel up to it one day! There's a lot of older songs in there you haven't done so it'd be really fun. You connected it amazingly, you're the best!
First of all I would like to say I'm super happy you reacted to the song! Your reaction is amazing as always. I was really excited to see you discover the song as it's a song that represent BTS and their story so well.
Many people probably pointed it out already in the comments and you might want to find out yourself so I won't point them out but there are a lot of references to older music and MVs. And it's not only with things like the car that you did recognize (I was so happy about that by the way) but also in the outfits and some scenes that are remakes of older MVs scenes. I recommand that you react to 'Spring Day' as it is the most referenced one and since it is a very important song for BTS and Army you would have had to listen/watch it either way haha.
I don't think anybody pointed that out in the comment (at least I didn't see it) but you noticed it yourself so I would like to give you further explanation on the ocean sound that we can hear at the beginning and end of the MV even though they are in a desert. This is a reference to their song 'Sea' (which I recommend you listen to). In this song they talk about two opposite notion the sea and the desert. The sea represent success and the desert which has no water in it represent the absence of success. One lyric in the song "Is this the sea or the desert ?" resonates a lot with this song in which they hear the sea in the middle of the desert. Which in my opinion could symbolize something like the fact that that they started in the desert and now after all these years (represented through the different references) they have finally reached success. Or maybe the fact that success and no success aren't that far apart, especially since their talking about the fact that they just want to do music whether they're successful with it or not.
I promise I'm almost done but I just wanted to give a few thoughts I have on the "we ain't about this part". I think it might be a subtle answer to people who have been criticising them lately about making songs in English and becoming a group that is just chasing trophies and more precisely a Grammy.
Finally I saw a lot of comments recommending that you listen to 'Run BTS' which is one of the two other new songs on their album and I agree with that I know you're gonna love it. But I didn't see anybody recommend the other song 'For Youth' which is also a song for Army and I think you would love it too so I'm putting this here.
Sorry for this comment which is way to long but in case you're reading I just wanted to end this by saying how much I appreciate and respect you for your both reations and your music.

Okay, sorry for the essay in advance, but I'll point out some things you might not have known from the video.
This song is an homage to their past and is like a goodbye to this chapter in their life/career as their next chapter will be a new start. Fear not, they have stated they will still be around and that this isn't a goodbye song. More like a "man our history was crazy, I can't wait to show ARMY our next chapter" type of song. Because this was released as part of their "Proof" album which is an anthology album of their previous work. CD 1 are their title tracks, CD 2 are tracks each member chose specifically, and CD 3 is a CD only exclusive of demos, alternate versions, and raw versions of certain songs when they wrote them.
But to address the things in the video, each member is associated with an item from their past MVs. Every prop you see in that desert is symbolic from a previous MV most notably from the eras in which they were heavy on the theme of youth ("The Most Beautiful Moment in Life" era and "You Never Walk Alone" era). Jin's truck is from "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life" era that spans many MVs from the BU. Or Jung Kook in front of the old carnival swing is an homage to the same one in Spring Day MV. For SUGA, he's on top of a piano because he has a solo track called "First Love" from that same era where he talks about music and the piano being his first love. RM in front of a shipping container pays homage to their "I NEED U" and "Run" MVs. The broken down train is also a reference to their "Spring Day" MV. The school bus is actually a reference to their early years at the start with their debut track "No More Dream". The giant statue is from their "Blood Sweat and Tears" MV, etc. All of these little things all pertain to past MVs but a lot of them are mostly from "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life" and "You Never Walk Alone" era in which they sing/rap mostly about their youth and what it means to be young, the struggles, the emotions, the experiences. So this track and this MV is like them growing up and reminiscing about their youth as they are starting to turn 30 and they wanted to reflect and say goodbye to their well-lived youth. I hope I made any sense. Again, sorry for the essay.

I hope you can do the whole of Proof Knox. BTS aired a FESTA dinner yesterday and have decided at the height of their popularity to scale back group music and do some things on their own, because they don't feel like they've matured and grown enough individually yet to carry on making sincere music. Seriously if anyone EVER doubted them as serious artists, then this says everything. They don't want to make music for the sake of it by sacrificing their artistry and they've had a tough few years. It seems they wanted to do this chapter before the p*ndemc, but held on to cheer us up (Dynamite, Butter and LGO mean so much more now). But watching Joon, who's always everyone's rock, cry because he's struggled with the world's expectations of them was heartbreaking😭
So they will each release an album instead of a mixtape, starting with J-Hope, continue with Run BTS (the show) and come back stronger as a team with new stories to tell after. I'm so excited for them!! Gives any newer army some time to catch up on 10 years of content and music too haha!

Honestly, this song makes me cry every time I hear it. It to me speaks that they will be coming back after their military duties and giving hope to the ARMYs that this is not the end of BTS.
When I saw this mv for the first time I sobbed. All the symbolisms in the video is in reference to their past music videos and this song is kinda the closing of the chapter 1 and the begining of their chapter 2.

This really has a different meaning now that BTS has dropped that they are taking a 1-2 year long break from group music projects to pursue solo careers. Feeling like they suddenly became the best and that all the new "names" became heavy. "Promise that we'll keep on coming back from more".

This whole video is full of symbolism, from the start to the end. It's sort of an homage to their old days, the chapter 1 that they're ending with this anthology album, 9 years of glory. A lot of props used here are a direct reference to their old MV's. There's soo much nostalgia spilled here that everyone was crying after watching this. These people are not here for fame and money, they're here for their music and their fans. God, BTS really is once in a lifetime thing, glad we are here to witness it and walk with them.

The album is an anthology album with 3 new songs. This new song and music video is so cool. The new song is looking back at everything they’ve done and looking forward to the future saying the best is yet to come. Song name is called “Yet to Come”
The video is shot in a desert, and every scene has either outfits, hand motions, or iconic set pieces referencing past music videos. It is literally the greatest thing ever.

Yay! As usual you were incredible!! I loved your insights, thanks Knox 💜 What a whirlwind yesterday was! I'm still processing and appreciating those amazing new songs and the nostalgia in the album (the third CD with the unreleased raw songs and demos is AMAZING). Great breakdown of the lyrics as usual. A lot of the imagery in the MV was mirroring their old MVs.
Like in this video where Jin puts his hands in front of V’s eyes then slowly removes them and V sees the bus from No More Dreams. In Blood Sweat & Tears V put his hands over Jin’s eye. As he slowly removes them Jin sees the status of the angel with the black wings and kisses it. That status Jin kissed is the same one out in the sand dunes (desert or beach) in this video.
Every image relates back in time.
As someone pointed out they never got back on the bus in No More Dreams MV. In this MV they get back on the bus and as you said to take it to their next chapter. The positions they are sitting in on the bus are the same positions they were sitting at on the train in an older MV the same train JHope was next to in this MV.

I love that they are surrounded by sand. Its like they are in their time (sand) capsule with the references/ props from their old videos (Spring Day, Blood, Sweat& Tears, No more dream etc) . The ending is actually meaningful because it referenced a shot in Spring Day. The bus their in was actually referencing the school bus they used on their first debut video music. Its like they started with that and now moving forward to see what is yet to come. This is definitely for ARMY to walk down the memory lane. So touching. I appreciate this so much. 💜💜🥹
