@@nyccatholic2765exactly what I have been saying , everything ended on 911 like clockwork. Everyone was different and now always on guard for our lives. Nothing has been the same for 22 years including my Father who was killed by a maniac in a car on the opposite side from where the person lived , came all the way from India to Atlanta area ,drive his wife's brand new Honda CRV 90 miles an hour 1 hour from where they lived and hit my dad head on , my life has been Hell since 2001 , with minor enjoyment since, I had to care for an OCD , depressed and handicapped Mother who was diing just fine til 1st day of Spring 2002. I used to listen to this in my 1953 Ranch in my various turn tables and Hi fi , entire house decorated 1950 - 1973. Never there for over 10 years , I just go in and dust it , added a new vintage table to the Den. Nothing like cleaning my vintage things and listening to this music now on blue tooth sound bar now, Still love my record collection on the Motorola Hifi , it brings a sense of normalcy into the home or car.

Gosh, this is so good. It sounds just like the department store, hotel lounge, airport, and elevator music we heard everywhere as kids from 1968-1978 or so. It brings back fond, sunny memories of shopping with Mom, picking up our aunt from Hartsfield, meeting dad at work for lunch, or taking the elevator to wherever, right in Atlanta when it was safe and beautiful. Cheers!

I'm sure, that was popular music in West Germany during the 1960's and 70's. And I can remember that I could hear this kind of music in films from the 70's.

Why was Muzak always given such a derogatory reputation after the era in which it thrived? Insipid, bland, uncool; soft, smooth, painless; ersatz, unintrusive, uninvigorating, etc. And yet - and yet - in this new era of crypto and legalised drugs and social media and rampant consumerism - in fact, in this time of dreams and dreaming and longing and yearning and spending and getting - isn't Muzak the IDEAL ACCOMPANIMENT? It is unreal music for an unreal epoch. Musical therapy for a world that is fearful, faithless, and ambivalent.

I wonder how many of these guys faced the horrors of Stalingrad with the Fuhrer ordering them to “fight to the last man”, while freezing to death and eating frozen horse meat. Then became Russian POWs; a whole different hell.
Then they were in these bands playing this super happy, warm and rhythmic music. These folks had seen enough drama.
Thats why this music is a prescription for feeling better.

After German agression was silenced that nation had its own hell in the east when the Russians invaded Germany and was more brutal still. No wonder traumatised musicians wanted to produce musical balm.

This is what the American soldiers listened to in the guard box at Checkpoint Charlie, so that the guards on the East Berlin side could hear the sound of freedom. All they had was a few old 78s of Russian marching music.

Get your drift but in early '70s DDR bought some of the best West German recording kit so that their broadcast music sounded largely indistinguishable from the West German competition.

Gert Wilden wrote soundtracks for some interesting films. I got a 24 hour Facebook ban for sharing one cover in a film discussion. Someone shared the same cover in a serious obit and upset a few folk.
