- Very basic tutorial on how to add audio to vrchat that is controlled by gesture override / this can also be used for weapons or other objects along with particle systems too.

to those who are having trouble, if the thing under build and publish says something about an ONSPaudiosource component, you need to delete the ONSP component itself on the audio source.

SO, for some reason the audio plays in unity when playing it. But it doesnt work in VRChat. I am confused

Yeah I'm having problems with this...I follow the tutorial *exactly* how you do it, and when I try to trigger it in-game, it doesn't work.

and if i wan't to put music to a model so i plays all the time (like this one russian tank) i just put in the audio and upload the model right?

i did everything as you did in the video, but when i go in vrchat and do the animation the audio doesnt play at all, im confused, ive tried redoing it twice already as well

One thing I learned that was giving me trouble is its not a good idea to map over ride animations to the fist emote. I noticed that when ever I switched to the avatar I just added the audio to, that the audio would play for a second before stopping without me actually making the fist. At first I thought I did the steps incorrectly but then I noticed that EVERY avatar starts with a closed fist.
just wanna share, if anyone reads. it is halloween 2019 and i wanted a halloween avatar for tonight, so i cut off michael de santas head and put it on mrs incredibles body. i needed to learn this auidio clip thing today so tonight when people see me and comment on my avatar, i will point at them and the audio will say " you forget a thousand things everyday, make sure this is one of em." HAHA i cant wait!

How do you make delayed objects show up, for example after 3 seconds something will appear

How would I go about adding a song over top of an existing emote? For instance, I have some emotes that I've gotten off of VRC Mods, although they have no audio. From my understanding, using your method, you would have to create your own emotes? I'm very new to this so any news is helpful :)
That's what I'm gonna try and do next , i got the orange justice emote so going to try add yung bratz to that , ill let you know when I've managed it

It would be nice to add on what it looks like in VRchat rather than ending the video after you're done with the steps. You gotta show that it works. However, it's still a good tutorial.

Great video, question though: How would I go about adding two or three songs? I tried adding multiple songs to different parts of the body, however the animation tab only creates a single animation so I imagine all 3 songs would just play at once when activated. I then assume you need to create multiple animations but I cant seem to figure that out.
Caleb Innes what i did for multiple songs on 1 avatar is each song is on a different avatar so you have 1 avatar with all 3 songs that are hidden / deactivated you would duplicate it and make 1 song active and animated it to a gesture then go back and duplicate the original amd follow the process but changing the song you want active and a different gesture so basically for 3 songs you would need 4 avatars
ya, I actually just decided to try that exact thing out earlier and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the reply though!
I upload my avatar. I clicked manage and it was there and it worked, But I can't find my avatar in game
I also tried to reupload and I loged out and signed in with VRchat

On the right hand side on the inspector panel there should be a checked box, untick it to then hide the model , let me know if it works or you need anything else :)
Does the audio source NEED to be on the hand? That's my only question, its a little loopy for me when I play my music through the gesture as when I move the hand moves and takes the audio source further or closer, making the audio all loopy in my ear, I just want the audio in a set spot, like the chest, would that still work?
When I tried publishing it, a warning tells me to delete AudioSource. If I delete it how would I be able to hear the song/sound when that's the music file?
How do I put it on loop, also is there a way to center it? Also how do can I make it louder??

Won't work no matter what I do. I've tried every solution in the comments. Nothing works. Audio file plays fine in unity but that's it. I followed step by step. I've tried removing the one audio source component. Very annoyed now (at myself not you) as I was so excited to make this work and failed.

It's in the windows tab up top, once you click on it, drag and drop it next to the other tabs near the bottom.
I already did this for one of my avatars and it worked but i'm trying to do it on another avatar but when i get to animation tab part i can't add property or remove one

Hmm if is not letting you drag and drop try right clicking on the project tab and then click import media and select it from there , if this doesn't work let me know.
mp3 files work too. Drag and drop into the assets folder.
How does the sound with which key is triggered?
Okay so big problem, when i try to add the property of it to the animation, its not working, i cant set it as active, dont know why, so i need to know if i need to add every single property or is it the file itself?

want to make my model holding a guitar while the song plays. I know how to attach it to the bone, but not sure how to put it at a specific gesture or what to add in the animator tab for the fingers and stuff.

Actually now I'm randomly having trouble. It won't let me move the animation into the override sometimes. It worked the first time, but not in my second project.

AmericanGuy InJapan for different sound effects or songs on command the only way is to repeat the process but have each song on a different gesture.
@@Charles27 Hello, the audio only works on the duplicated avatar, but on my original nothing plays, how do you fix that?
@@Punished-Ken umm I'm not sure 100% the reason I use the music on the duplicate one is so I can time when I want to play the sound , maybe of you want music on the original you can just add a normal audio source on it and make sure it's looped , if this doesn't work I'm not to sure it's been a while since I've done anything for vrchat

@Ty Herren '24 yeah pal 1 for each audio source but on the original add them all but keep them all hidden , I find that if they are in the same location they might not work so have maybe each audio source on separate fingers , hope this helps I haven't been on vrchat in a long time
the audio source does not necessarily have to be attached to the hand, as long as it's attached to the body then you're gucci

When I upload my avatar it says it wants to lower the volume so I let it then when it is uploading the app quits with out any message to tell me it’s done please help

If you're talking about multiple songs playing at once, just enable the other audio source for the animation, and if you're talking about different songs at different times, just redo the process on another animation slot so you have multiple audio animations.

Initially made this for a guy I met on vrchat , worked for him so that's why I made it public , didn't really thing anyone else would watch it
When i try to drag a premade animation into the dummy (when you add the audio to the animation), the animation doesnt show up in the animation window and it wont let me add components (the song) either. am i missing a step here?
When you mean pre made animation is this one you have created previously or imported
Nvm I fixed it. I didnt convert the animation so that the model can use it. It would just go into the ground when I played it lol

no, they arent allowed to have gestures or anything which is basically the keybind for it. experience from making HL2 Strider

Copy Right when you added the second song did you add an additional audio source to the exsisting avatars or did you create another duplicate so you have 1 dummy with both songs hidden and then 2 hidden ones that are animations ?
When I went into animator there's already a heap of animations what do I do
Enderman 8787 top left of animations tab should have a selector for what animation you want select it then just go to armature find your audio source and make sure it’s active to that animation

Followed the tutorial step by step about 5 times and still doesn't work you either need to take this tutorial down or update it.
Do you get any errors messages or does the audio just not play in game ?
um it does play in game but it doesn't stop playing like after I do the gesture it won't stop playing and also for some reason the hand gestures are all the same like the rocknroll gesture looks like the victory hand so i cant point or anything so like im making some progress but its just those 2 things (won't stop playing after activated and hand gestures are messed up
im also using unity ver 2017.4.15f1
So it does work it just doesn't stop playing ? Can you send me a screenshot on discord or somthing of your unity and when I get a chance I can have a look and see if theres something extra or missing ?
edit okkkay for some reason its fixed it but do you know how to play constant audio all around and not have it playing louder in certain areas like its sounds louder near my chest area but quiet near feet and head area that would be much help

As far as im aware it would be 1 song per animation , im not to clued up in unity but when i was creating a world i know there is a playlist option . No idea of you can put that on an avatar

I want to thank you for taking the time to make this, an I was wondering if there was a way to use this same process, but to play a youtube url, instead of a song file, I think it would lower the upload time of the avi an reduce the load in time for us to show up rendered to others, plus I don't feel like converting audio lol, thanks again.
