    Kirk knows a lot of scales - he took lessons from Joe Satriani as a teenager.

    • @Daniel-sx6vc
      @Daniel-sx6vc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Close but he wasn’t a teenager when he took those lessons, early twenties I don’t remember if it was between lightning and puppets or puppets and Justice but I believe it was the latter and why his solos were absolutely insane on AJFA

      Not true. He took lessons from Satch either when he was in Exodus or even before that - I've read dozens of interviews with Kirk because he was my favorite player when I was learning guitar as a teenager, so I know this for a fact. But perhaps he took more lessons from Joe at a later time as well.

    thanks, my 12 year old daughter is learning music theory atm. She only knows Metallica from hearing so much from me playing it (my 10 yr old son loves ride and master, yay), I was talking about scales and this popped up. I LOL'ed with the e minor pentatonic scale "every Metallica song", I get it heh heh, good stuff, thanks for the laughs

      @valleyforgeaudio8618 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, he used to write good solos. Lately, not so much. He can't improvise well and has an absolutely irritating vibrato to my ears, but he sure had some memorable lines on albums from 91 back.

      @@valleyforgeaudio8618 I liked his work on Load and ReLoad. His fills on those albums are grossly overlooked. He has some killer solos on Death Magnetic and Hardwired. I obviously like him more than you and that's fine. We all have options and preferences.

      Not necessarily - Electric Funeral is a killer riff, and it's played in single notes. And there are many other Sabbath and Metallica riffs that use single notes mixed with chords.

    constructive: You're in between cartoonish edits and laughing distract quite a bit from the video. In some parts of feels more like babysitting than learning. The use of live feed videos also doesn't help because the clearest example would obviously be the album version. What I was hoping for was clean and concise examples. if you were to actually play along with the song with the notes on the screen while you were playing that would make the association with the scale a lot better than just playing it. Overall good video.. You're just working too hard. We already like you brother.
