"Decent" was probably my best description of this. Lots of promise, but a number of issues that felt like they just ran out of gas in the last few months. Like a 6.5/10... worth getting on significant sale, but I'm not buying thing for $60 at this point.
This game is example of having the means but not the ideas. This game is a mixnmatch of mechanics with no storyline to follow. Great games thrill you with both. Returnal seems to be just as shit storywise.

I really like the game but sometimes when I want to play it with a buddy we literally just cannot play because the connection is so terrible. We both have good internet and never lag playing any other games.

Glad I waited for the late review embargo to be lifted. One note about coop: normal games just increase health pools with additional players but this game drastically increases the amount of enemies onscreen as well. That's a really nice change

It is oddly addicting. These type of games are plentiful and usually I can't play them without friends. This is different, I enjoyed my solo play throughout the time I was in there.

Anthems art style is better, flying was great only progression and loot was bad. Sad that they haven't continued working on Anthem 2.0. But Outriders looks very promising, even if I would've preferred Anthem 2.0

Yeah, It already had a lot of the systems in place all they had to do was freaking expand upon what was literally there, and we could've had a game about as good as warframe. Part of me is hoping for a sequel just to see they potential it could've had, but they should've delivered the first time around.

Which are two games I've played religiously throughout the years. Diablo 1 was my second 3rd PC game back in the day, after Warcraft 1 and 2. The gears franchise I've played since Day 1 2006, and still play Gears 5 Horde to this day. This game so far for me has been great. Just got to the part where you can start playing in co op mode.

I'm not sure if there's been any improvements since the demo, but there were a few issues with graphics that REALLY irked me, like characters in conversations just snapping back into place after that convo option was finished (see the first convo with Shira in the opening or talking to Eva after you get her back to town), and parts of enemies clipping through walls that they were taking cover behind. This game felt like there was a lot of good possibility, but a lot of stuff that needed to be fixed. And my friends all said about every problem "Well, it's a beta." My response was "IT'S LESS THAN A MONTH FROM RELEASE. THEY'VE BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR OVER FIVE YEARS."

once initial problems were ironed out, this has become one of the top addicting game experiences ever. More people should notice this and its upcoming dlc
If we look at the other games this year, that game might be the most fun of them and that game earned my attention actually and happy to see a game like this because like I said there's not too many problems so that's enough for me

This game might be super unique, but what a blast it can be. The gameplay is addictive, fast, aggressive. The setting is pretty cool and the monster models are terrifying! Loving the arcade feel it has to it - finally a new good looter shooter that scratches the itch.
i was thinking this hardcore, with the whole 3rd person over the shooter style and how similar the mobs look. The big 3 legged guy at 3:50 gave me crazy lost planet vibes, i swear theres a mob just like it.
@@tacti-cool4022 - I haven't played a demo (yet) so the impression was from the footage and what was said, it could be completely different to that when playing the game... I just got a flashback of Lost Planet when there was the trigger of the swarms of enemies.
The weird 2 sec cutscenes with doors and stuff like that is the way the game syncs up the coop ...in other words the party gets the same cutscene in order to be synced up in the story/area
That's not what it is. It does the same exact thing in solo, not just co-op. It's the way the game is presently built. It'll get fixed though, Ghost of Tsushima had a similar issue where the loading screens took forever until they fixed it.

Yup, one of the Devs chimed into a comment chain somewhere and talked about it. When the transitions were a quick fade in/out they had issues with players initiating travel and the rest of the party not knowing where they were going. This when their admittedly clumsy plan to inform the players of where they were going and sync them. It is annoying in single player for sure, but given that the game is an "always online, drop in and out multiplayer" game I think it makes sense they don't have it operating separately for solo play.
Why not buy it if you enjoy it? Further rewarding the devs for giving you an enjoyable game? I always end up buying the games if I enjoy them through gamepass that way the devs get a praise from me
I’m enjoying the game so far. I’m getting some frame stuttering from time to time, but nothing game breaking. The story is pretty interesting, and the gameplay feels like a more actiony gears. The only downside I have so far is that most of the enemies just bum rush you. It’s not a problem when it’s enemies that make sense to bum rush you like melee enemies or shotgun enemies, but when the captain+melee+shotgun+heavy enemies all bum rush you at once and you have to nowhere to go it can get pretty frustrating.
A lot of my friends are stuck on Warzone and refuse to leave it then complain non stop about how much they hate it and want a new game. Then one comes out. "Nah I'm just gonna play warzone today"
50 Hrs in currently, I am loving it. Even after finishing all the story quest, Everything is just getting more fun now. You have so much stuff to do even after the story and it gets more fun and crazier later on.

Level 5 already and just bought on the 1st at midnight. I had to wait for my card to be used they don't let you use them on pre-orders. I'm loving it and playing solo probably takes longer than playing co-op but as trickster is awesome. I'm able to check more out.
I won't be buying immediately but I'm actually quite interested in watching a revisited before you buy of this game in a couple months maybe... to see how it progressed.
Binge played all day, had a great time, the story is fun, and I like the cynical/sarcastic tones while still being serious which most games dont seem to hit. Kind of makes me think, hey, mass effect andromeda could have been good if it was this with aliens. Playing on xbox one it does crash a lot, but so do most games on game pass it seems. I also die too often from fumbling the cover seen and evidently jumping into enemy fire and getting cornered because I cant vault backwards. Oh one last thing. The side quests actually have enjoyable relevant story instead of being "hey go collect me 20 macguffins because reasons" sure, it's all shoot this and that, but that's the game I want to play, not farm space weed 3000.
biggest pet peeve in a game. that and seeing your weapon or sword just float on your back or just disappear entirely. like how much more effort does it possibly take to render a simple sheath animation lmao
Most games use dynamic cloth for cloaks etc. Its VERY hard to not get clipping. Thats why most games dont do Ponchos. Theres a Reason why Destiny hunters only has cloaks on the back etc. Its just a tech issue that you have to live with for now, every game has it, they just dont do ponchos or clothing that shows easily in cutscenes.
Best “looter shooter” atm imo. Really well thought out. It combined the best elements of most of them which is ofcourse not very original but really clever.
My only "major gripe" is that its online only so if you have sketchy network, be prepared to disconnect from servers mid-game. Other than that, havent played too much to give it a full rundown. But I watched a lot of gameplay vids (like this^) to already know what i was getting into to decide whether i wanted to give it a try. Game Pass win for sure.
Overall a good game and the cut scenes are really good. When I was playing, there were times where I had to do something and I was in a long cut scene where I couldn't pause and I would be there waiting but other than that I highly rate it!?

I'm a Stadia gamer who plays in short 1-2 hour stints at most, enjoys a dark sci-fi setting, hasn't had a huge experience with similar games, and has been looking for some more multiplayer opportunities. This game hits every note perfectly for me specifically, especially as Stadia doesn't seem to be hit by the outages and issues quite so badly, or maybe it's the times I'm playing? I've joined in with other Stadia players, got my Devastator to World Tier 6 and thoroughly enjoying what the game offers. I'm hoping to continue playing a couple of times a week for the next couple of years. This one gives me good feels. Definitely going to hit this as a live stream soon.
Servers are a bit messy at launch but hoenstly iv been enjoying it and i did just last year give up playing destiny so its nice that this is a game that i can see myself playing for a good amount of time that wont charge me 50 quid a year for bare bones copy paste content
Through the main story, you can feel the character getting fed up of all the mortal bullshit, I roll with the female, and all the sass and attitude just keeps ramping up. I find it really believable and it makes sense. She’s going back and fourth over petty human squabbles poking her nose in shit she just doesn’t feel like she needs to care about. I really love this game
The game's writing is nothing stellar but it's solid. If the characters weren't of the "seen in any other sci-fi RPG" sort, it'd come out ten times better. The lore is in fact quite engaging and I find many of the jounral entries to be surprisingly intricate and actually even somewhat plausible.
I’m having fun. I like the main character snarkiness compared to your usual silent hero(destiny). Definitely play with friends and do the side quests! You get crazy loot
I'm definitely liking this game. The loot is really rewarding and each improvement really makes you feel stronger. The story so far is also good. I recommend it.
2024-06 the mechanics are fun and its worth the money if u liked games like elder ring and u generally like shooter games like borderlands 1 or remnant 2 its fun to play with friends

The best part of the game, the mods on the loot don't just change percentage increases, it changes your play style so you can tweak it.
My biggest complaint is the mobility. It feels really clunky and it doesn’t help that you’re getting shot from 10000000000 different angles

I'm not sure if there's been any improvements since the demo, but there were a few issues with graphics that REALLY irked me, like characters in conversations just snapping back into place after that convo option was finished (see the first convo with Shira in the opening or talking to Eva after you get her back to town), and parts of enemies clipping through walls that they were taking cover behind.
This game felt like there was a lot of good possibility, but a lot of stuff that needed to be fixed. And my friends all said about every problem "Well, it's a beta." My response was "IT'S LESS THAN A MONTH FROM RELEASE. THEY'VE BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR OVER FIVE YEARS."

once initial problems were ironed out, this has become one of the top addicting game experiences ever. More people should notice this and its upcoming dlc
just a shame the DLC is way over priced. I managed to get it for about 20$ its definetly not worth 40 though..

This game might be super unique, but what a blast it can be. The gameplay is addictive, fast, aggressive. The setting is pretty cool and the monster models are terrifying! Loving the arcade feel it has to it - finally a new good looter shooter that scratches the itch.
I got some Lost Planet vibes from seeing the gameplay there.
i was thinking this hardcore, with the whole 3rd person over the shooter style and how similar the mobs look. The big 3 legged guy at 3:50 gave me crazy lost planet vibes, i swear theres a mob just like it.

@@tacti-cool4022 - I haven't played a demo (yet) so the impression was from the footage and what was said, it could be completely different to that when playing the game... I just got a flashback of Lost Planet when there was the trigger of the swarms of enemies.

The weird 2 sec cutscenes with doors and stuff like that is the way the game syncs up the coop ...in other words the party gets the same cutscene in order to be synced up in the story/area
That's not what it is. It does the same exact thing in solo, not just co-op. It's the way the game is presently built. It'll get fixed though, Ghost of Tsushima had a similar issue where the loading screens took forever until they fixed it.

Yup, one of the Devs chimed into a comment chain somewhere and talked about it. When the transitions were a quick fade in/out they had issues with players initiating travel and the rest of the party not knowing where they were going. This when their admittedly clumsy plan to inform the players of where they were going and sync them.
It is annoying in single player for sure, but given that the game is an "always online, drop in and out multiplayer" game I think it makes sense they don't have it operating separately for solo play.
Before you buy: If you have Game pass (Edit: on XBOX, NOT on PC) DON'T buy it. Because, it's on there.

I’m enjoying the game so far. I’m getting some frame stuttering from time to time, but nothing game breaking. The story is pretty interesting, and the gameplay feels like a more actiony gears. The only downside I have so far is that most of the enemies just bum rush you. It’s not a problem when it’s enemies that make sense to bum rush you like melee enemies or shotgun enemies, but when the captain+melee+shotgun+heavy enemies all bum rush you at once and you have to nowhere to go it can get pretty frustrating.

The micro stutters are really holding me back from sinking hours into this game. Its a ton of fun and I'm not one to play casual shooters.

I'm really enjoying this game. Played some co-op last night with two friends and it was adrenaline-fuelled, chaotic slaughter! Great fun.

Level 5 already and just bought on the 1st at midnight. I had to wait for my card to be used they don't let you use them on pre-orders. I'm loving it and playing solo probably takes longer than playing co-op but as trickster is awesome. I'm able to check more out.

Binge played all day, had a great time, the story is fun, and I like the cynical/sarcastic tones while still being serious which most games dont seem to hit. Kind of makes me think, hey, mass effect andromeda could have been good if it was this with aliens.
Playing on xbox one it does crash a lot, but so do most games on game pass it seems. I also die too often from fumbling the cover seen and evidently jumping into enemy fire and getting cornered because I cant vault backwards.
Oh one last thing. The side quests actually have enjoyable relevant story instead of being "hey go collect me 20 macguffins because reasons" sure, it's all shoot this and that, but that's the game I want to play, not farm space weed 3000.
If Destiny and Gears of war had a baby, this seems to be it.
I just wish it had 3 player local couch co-op, like Gears 5 did.

Most games use dynamic cloth for cloaks etc. Its VERY hard to not get clipping. Thats why most games dont do Ponchos. Theres a Reason why Destiny hunters only has cloaks on the back etc. Its just a tech issue that you have to live with for now, every game has it, they just dont do ponchos or clothing that shows easily in cutscenes.
This game has MASSIVE potential. I hope the developers build more with it.

My only "major gripe" is that its online only so if you have sketchy network, be prepared to disconnect from servers mid-game. Other than that, havent played too much to give it a full rundown. But I watched a lot of gameplay vids (like this^) to already know what i was getting into to decide whether i wanted to give it a try. Game Pass win for sure.
Overall a good game and the cut scenes are really good. When I was playing, there were times where I had to do something and I was in a long cut scene where I couldn't pause and I would be there waiting but other than that I highly rate it!?

I'm a Stadia gamer who plays in short 1-2 hour stints at most, enjoys a dark sci-fi setting, hasn't had a huge experience with similar games, and has been looking for some more multiplayer opportunities.
This game hits every note perfectly for me specifically, especially as Stadia doesn't seem to be hit by the outages and issues quite so badly, or maybe it's the times I'm playing?
I've joined in with other Stadia players, got my Devastator to World Tier 6 and thoroughly enjoying what the game offers. I'm hoping to continue playing a couple of times a week for the next couple of years. This one gives me good feels.
Definitely going to hit this as a live stream soon.

each class has its own style. The green one on the left is Sup and is a challenge mode.
Servers are a bit messy at launch but hoenstly iv been enjoying it and i did just last year give up playing destiny so its nice that this is a game that i can see myself playing for a good amount of time that wont charge me 50 quid a year for bare bones copy paste content

Through the main story, you can feel the character getting fed up of all the mortal bullshit, I roll with the female, and all the sass and attitude just keeps ramping up. I find it really believable and it makes sense. She’s going back and fourth over petty human squabbles poking her nose in shit she just doesn’t feel like she needs to care about. I really love this game
The game's writing is nothing stellar but it's solid. If the characters weren't of the "seen in any other sci-fi RPG" sort, it'd come out ten times better. The lore is in fact quite engaging and I find many of the jounral entries to be surprisingly intricate and actually even somewhat plausible.
I’m having fun. I like the main character snarkiness compared to your usual silent hero(destiny). Definitely play with friends and do the side quests! You get crazy loot

2024-06 the mechanics are fun and its worth the money if u liked games like elder ring and u generally like shooter games like borderlands 1 or remnant 2 its fun to play with friends
