Well, technically, there was a real anchor man named Ron Burgundy that Ron Burgundy was loosely based on, so theoretically, Kent might have been based on the real life Ron Burgundy.
I think my favorite Ken bit is when it smash cuts to him in front of the elementary school in Grade School Confidential and he says in his news voice “It turns out I’ve been had.” Like the delivery just makes me laugh every time.
"Let's grab someone more down to earth this time" Bumblebee Man. OK, that's a joke, how about Lenny and Karl? We got Richard and Lewis, and seeing how many characters tied to Homer we got (Mr. Burns' past, Barney, Smithers, even Maude in a perspective), it's only fair to give the spotlight to his two best friends... Besides Moe...
I'd argue Lenny could be the topic of his own video, since he's not always defined by his relationship with Carl. Same with Carl, but to a much lesser extent.
The run down of topics for Eye on Springfield almost killed me. I have a cold atm, and the laugh/cough fit as they were reeled off nearly finished me. What a way to go though.
Once again, I'm going to say Lenny and Carl. I know there's a lot of interesting stuff to work with there, a very interesting dynamic, a lot of development there with their relationship over time... I just really want Lenny and Carl to finally get an episode.
My second favorite Kent Brockman bit, behind "Hail Ants" of course, is the Smartline episode when the cat burglar calls in and Kurt mentions it is not a call in show. With that question answered, professor, would you now say it is time to crack each other's heads open and feast on the goo inside? Yes, I would, Kent.
Something not brought up in this video (unless I missed it): Kent might not have started at Channel 6 early on. In "Krusty Gets Busted," Scott Christian (filling in for Kent on Springfield Action News), says that Krusty was on a rival station opposite the station's very own Hobo Hank.
I for one welcome our new Simpsons Histories overlord. Gonna again voice my support for Eddie and Lou for the next Histories video. since I'd love to see an in depth look at how the roles of these two have changed over the years. they always just seemed like "those 2 named cops" who appear together in the early seasons. but in any modern episode I've seen either of them in, it seems that Eddie has practically faded into the background while Lou now more often gets paired up with Chief Wiggum, to act as his comedic foil, always taking the chief down a peg with remarks about his incompetence or weight. And I'm just wondering when that change in the character dynamic started to happen and if there's any actual substance or development to Eddie's character and how the show uses him compared to Lou. And then also if Lou has any depth to his character outside of just snarking at his boss.
Wiggum: Lou, you're promoted to chief of police. Lou: Sweet. Wiggum: And Eddie, you're promoted to Lou. Eddie: Nice. And, uh, who's gonna be Eddie? Wiggum: We don't need an Eddie.
Like Dr. Hibbert, Kent is both a pivotal and background character. Like, you can forget about him if you don't see him, but he's got so much involvement with plot and with The Simpsons you can't imagine the show without him. For sure could see an episode on the Sea Captain or Comic book Guy.
That podcast ep absolutely blew me away when Disney Plus finally got round to adding s32. It's just so dang good. Possibly even top ten Simpsons post the golden years up there with stuff like the Book Job good.
A special episode about the evolution of the neighbors of the Simpsons could be fascinating ! We know about Ruth and George Bush, but what about the others and how it evolve over time ? That would be fascinating !!
I love Kent’s news exposition in Treehouse of Horror IX “... and the fluffy kitten played with that ball of string all through the night. On a lighter note, a Kwik-E-Mart clerk was brutally murdered last night.” 😂 makes me laugh every time
Another great Simpsons Histories. I've been hoping for Kent Brockman for a while, and it's cool to realize how many highlights he has. As always, I will submit my usual picks which are Duffman, Agnus Skinner, and Lindsay Naegle, but after what you said about entertainment industry centered characters, hold off on her if you wish. Great job as always, and Happy Anniversary Jim. I still can't believe it's already been a decade since you started your Simpsons content.
I think it's about time you make way for Willie! He has some of the best lines in the whole show! But this did make me realise how funny Kent Brockman is
That clip of the goat is probably my favorite joke involving Kent. I love how he storms out, legit sounds like his voice actor has had enough as well, it’s great.
"Eye on Springfield" was a great segment. Kick ass opening tune, wonderfully arranged scenes used for said opening and lots of nice girls :3 INFOTAINMENT!!!!
Everytime i watch one of your videos i realize there are 2/3 of this show's episodes I've never seen and i really appreciate your dedication in researching the whole show and not just the golden years that we all know and love. Watching up until the current season so we don't have to is pure dedication.
I'd be really interested in an episode about Dolph. Despite appearing in hundreds of episodes he's definitely the least defined out of the school bullies, I'm pretty sure his name has only said in the show several times.
Great video, I never could really tell how seriously he actually took his job and his 'passion' for news. Also I'm always going to suggest Dolph, Jimbo and Kearney!
"Would you say it's time for people to crack open each other's skulls and feast on the goo inside?" "Yes Kent, I would." One of the best moments in the show's history.
10 years of sporadic Realjims Simpsons videos, how time flies. Keep on keeping on. I'd put a Simpsons quote here, but you've heard them all before. Wiggum gets my vote, not for next Simpsons Histories, but the next next next one. That's three away!
My favorite Kent Brockman bit is when we come in at the end of a news story: "Authorities say the phony Pope can be recognized by his high-top sneakers, and incredibly foul mouth." "Authorities believe the wave of towel-snappings will get worse before it gets better." As for a future episode, I err, vote Quimby.
Those are the best, especially the dark ones. "...which, if true, means death for us all." "...and the elephant that couldn't stop laughing was put to death." There's also one where he gets cut off at the beginning of a news story: "Paris is no more. The legendary City of Lights has been extinguished forever as a massive..." (Marge changes the channel)
Another great video, dude! I'm 33 and I fell off after episode 300 so getting the post-golden-age info is really cool. And Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk is underrated.
These breakdowns are crazy. I thought I new a lot about the Simpsons. I think I would do pretty good at trivia for the first 12 seasons or so maybe up n until John Goodman kidnapped marge with his biker gang , but all I can say is wow these are on another level….. Props…… proprrrr!
(IV) Duffman or Disco Stu next pleeaaase!! They're my absolute favourites, the writting of their one liners is absolutely genius and for me, they both have the ability to be the highlight of an episode with mere seconds of screen time, which is no mean feat! Oooh yeah!

@@matti.8465 we did find out that Carl is from Iceland
The run down of topics for Eye on Springfield almost killed me. I have a cold atm, and the laugh/cough fit as they were reeled off nearly finished me. What a way to go though.
Can we talk about how awesome the ocarina of time village music is so peaceful!
Once again I am astounded at the level of work you put into this series.
Another triumph!
My dad's favorite line from one of the earlier seasons: "A popular soda brand has been poisoned! We'll tell you which one -- after this break!"
"I'm going in. I'm tired of reporting the news, I want to be part of it!"
"This is not the time-"
"YOU'RE NOT THE TIME, KENT! YOU'RE NOT THE TIME!"
Once again, I'm going to say Lenny and Carl. I know there's a lot of interesting stuff to work with there, a very interesting dynamic, a lot of development there with their relationship over time... I just really want Lenny and Carl to finally get an episode.
Maybe just Lenny or Carl and see how much he can parse out in terms of them as individual characters independent of each other.
I really wish we got more of Arny pie he seems like one of the most versatile and annoyingly hilarious characters that hasn't been played out
Something not brought up in this video (unless I missed it): Kent might not have started at Channel 6 early on. In "Krusty Gets Busted," Scott Christian (filling in for Kent on Springfield Action News), says that Krusty was on a rival station opposite the station's very own Hobo Hank.
I'd been asking for this for like 2-3 years! FINALLY! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
"There's one thing he can't buy, a dinosaur" is my favorite moment of/with Kent Brockman.
I for one welcome our new Simpsons Histories overlord.
Gonna again voice my support for Eddie and Lou for the next Histories video. since I'd love to see an in depth look at how the roles of these two have changed over the years. they always just
seemed like "those 2 named cops" who appear together in the early seasons. but in any modern episode I've seen either of them in, it seems that Eddie has practically faded into the background
while Lou now more often gets paired up with Chief Wiggum, to act as his comedic foil, always taking the chief down a peg with remarks about his incompetence or weight. And I'm just
wondering when that change in the character dynamic started to happen and if there's any actual substance or development to Eddie's character and how the show uses him compared
to Lou. And then also if Lou has any depth to his character outside of just snarking at his boss.
I agree, I am also very interested in these characters, they are my favorite characters!
What about Disco Stu?
What about Disco Stu?
@@srstriker6420 I've never suggested Disco Stu before.
@@AnimatedChris1987 well do you even wonder who or where he came from?
7:26 season 6 didn't reach dizzying heights? i guess it was all about those creamy middles
I think it's about time you make way for Willie! He has some of the best lines in the whole show!
But this did make me realise how funny Kent Brockman is
I want to see a history of diamond joe and milhouse someday. I love this channel!
That clip of the goat is probably my favorite joke involving Kent. I love how he storms out, legit sounds like his voice actor has had enough as well, it’s great.
This video made my day! I love your channel
Great video Jim
Congrats on the 10 years. Amazing content all around :)
"Would you say its time to start cracking each other's skulls open and... feasting on the goo inside?"
"Yes I would, Kent."
"Eye on Springfield" was a great segment. Kick ass opening tune, wonderfully arranged scenes used for said opening and lots of nice girls :3 INFOTAINMENT!!!!
According to the comics Shelbyville has a program called “Eye on Eye on Springfield” hosted by Brent Stockman.
My personal favorite Brockman moment:
"....which if true, means death for us all!"
Personally, I'm fond of the "Shotgun full of snow" bit.
Everytime i watch one of your videos i realize there are 2/3 of this show's episodes I've never seen and i really appreciate your dedication in researching the whole show and not just the golden years that we all know and love. Watching up until the current season so we don't have to is pure dedication.
What you mean 'so we don't have to', there are good things in all seasons, I'm happy to have seen them all
I'd be really interested in an episode about Dolph. Despite appearing in hundreds of episodes he's definitely the least defined out of the school bullies, I'm pretty sure his name has only said in the show several times.
You go through a lot of work for these videos you really deserve more subscribers
Jim, long time watcher, just wanted to say, love your videos! It's so nice hearing some quality simpsons discussion!
Great video, I never could really tell how seriously he actually took his job and his 'passion' for news.
Also I'm always going to suggest Dolph, Jimbo and Kearney!
For down-to-earth characters, I'd say Lenny or Ms. Hoover would make great subjects.
"Would you say it's time for people to crack open each other's skulls and feast on the goo inside?"
"Yes Kent, I would."
One of the best moments in the show's history.
The hostage in the "HO HO HOSTAGE" image at 5:27 looks an awful lot like Elfo...
Congrats on 10 years of Simpsons videos!
10 years of sporadic Realjims Simpsons videos, how time flies. Keep on keeping on. I'd put a Simpsons quote here, but you've heard them all before. Wiggum gets my vote, not for next Simpsons Histories, but the next next next one. That's three away!
Very nicely done as always Jims
I have been waiting for this one for a whole now! Finally got it!
"Kent, I never said my men aren't committing crimes..."
"..."
"Well, fair enough."
Why was there a giant, full body, fully 3D Kent Brockman built into a billboard for Treehouse of Horror??
My favorite Kent Brockman bit is when we come in at the end of a news story:
"Authorities say the phony Pope can be recognized by his high-top sneakers, and incredibly foul mouth."
"Authorities believe the wave of towel-snappings will get worse before it gets better."
As for a future episode, I err, vote Quimby.
Those are the best, especially the dark ones.
"...which, if true, means death for us all."
"...and the elephant that couldn't stop laughing was put to death."
There's also one where he gets cut off at the beginning of a news story:
"Paris is no more. The legendary City of Lights has been extinguished forever as a massive..." (Marge changes the channel)
Another great video, dude! I'm 33 and I fell off after episode 300 so getting the post-golden-age info is really cool. And Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk is underrated.
insane to me how jim threw out the knowledge of his ten year anniversary as a background gag. here’s to all the great content!
I’d like to see more obscure characters like Principal Dondelinger, Scott Christian, Birch Barlow or even Dr. Marvin Monroe.
Grats on ten years man. Here's hoping you still love what you do.
Cool to see you do a video on Kent Brockman. Keep up the great work!
Kent Brockman is Awesome! thanks for covering him.
Where's Super Nintendo Chalmers?
I'd love for you to look into Miss Hoover as an unusual Lisa orientated figure at Springfield Elementary and a random secondary character in crowds.
You are too humble Jims, your content is always great
Him jumping into frame for ACTION NEWS! is my absolute favourite Kent Brockman moment.
oh *PLEASE* do Sherri & Terri. I have no idea what their deal is.
Also, thank you for doing Kent Brockman.
(IV) Duffman or Disco Stu next pleeaaase!! They're my absolute favourites, the writting of their one liners is absolutely genius and for me, they both have the ability to be the highlight of an episode with mere seconds of screen time, which is no mean feat! Oooh yeah!
I nominate Professor Frink. He'll make you laugh and make you think. He likes to run and then the thing with the... Person.
congrats on 10 years
0:40 You know this means you’re gonna have to do a Bumblebee-Man Histories/Timeline next now, right?
