  • @blahplayhard4092
    @blahplayhard4092 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1811

    He's 325 pounds and sprinting that fast which is already YT-worthy in and of itself but perhaps the most impressive thing is the textbook tackle he makes. That's not an easy tackle to make. He timed his leap perfectly and wrapped up his legs while diving at an angle and brought him down textbook. Seriously, look at that tackle. That's what really elevates this to one of the best plays I've ever seen.

    • @jeffw1267
      @jeffw1267 7 ปีที่แล้ว +144

      Yes, considering Allen's upper body strength, no player would have a chance to break that tackle. I'm also impressed by the fact that Allen knew he could make that tackle: he was giving maximum effort from a standing start. You could see a couple of other Dallas players who had given up immediately and they were halfheartedly chasing along just so they wouldn't look bad. But Allen was thinking "I got this" from the get-go.

    I played with Larry at Sonoma, went against him everyday in practice! Most of our battles ended in fights and trying to rip each other's face mask off. I look back at our playing days together and I knew at the time he was a good player, didn't imagine he'd be one of the best to ever play on the offensive line! Mad props to Larry! He wouldn't have been drafted as high as he was if not for Freddie Bradley and all the NFL scouts looking for Bradley and finding Allen as well.

      I played against you guys in 1993… I was at Cal St. Northridge. But by the late 80's, the game had blown right past him and the cowboys kept losing and losing.
      And hiring Jimmy Johnson was the best choice ever made by Jerry Jones because Jimmy is the one who was behind the Herchel Walker trade giving the Cowboys all of the draft picks that would allow them to build a championship team that if he had been able to stay as coach could have won possibly 4 or 5 superbowls in the 90's instead of winning only 2 and the third win was Jimmy Johnson's veteran team being coached by somebody who didn't belong in the NFL and should have stayed in college.
      And as you could see, they absolutely collapsed the season afterwards and they have never even come close to smelling the Lombardi trophy since then.

    A lot of people forget how important that play was, because Dallas' defense, I think, held the Saints to a field goal.

      Yes they did. And a good lesson for youngsters to learn, that winners never quit. Because you never know what your effort can do to help your team.

    Something that adds to the greatness of this play is that he used to move his arm up and down and make a train whistle when dallas would go for a run play. Even towards the end of his career he was still tossing strong d lineman around. There is a video with Justin Tuck that confirms all of this and it is hilarious. I can just imagine him saying choo choo!! And being thrown back 10 yards.
