    Since pre-orders just re-opened for our NEW Drumeo P4 Practice Pad, we thought this would be a great time to dive into some pad exercise to get those single strokes silky smooth. Pat Petrillo, the designer of the P4 Practice Pad, is here today to show you a great way to break down your single stokes into different groupings. This will help your coordination, getting your weak hand up to speed, and help you apply singles around the drum set more fluidly.
    Remember to take this slow, stay relaxed, and keep your strokes even! And for more information on our Drumeo P4 Practice Pad, click here!

    Any beginners here? How long did it take you to even get the pattern right at sloooooow bpms?? I'm struggling so hard... any tips besides the obvious of practice? I'm counting in my mind as I come to the silent "e"s and "a"s I keep hitting the pad without pausing in between. Is in only practice?

  • @ambroulard
    @ambroulard 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here on utube type in Emanuelle Caplette snare solo to see the most amazingly fast and clean single strokes I’ve ever seen, and using the German grip-- this is unusual in that her speed at this is usually only approached using the French grip. ( Timpani).

  • @kamb26
    @kamb26 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome exercise. But if you are trying to build your non dominant hand wouldn't you start the exercise with the left hand? Or vise versa if your dominant hand is the left hand?

    Also a quick question about the P4. Is the floor Tom pad space comparable to the ProLogix Blue Lightening surface? I'd rather get this than the Blue Lightening but I was just curious.

    • @ayoungethan

      It is soft, high resistance and very quiet. Not sure how it compares, but I use it late at night when I don't want to wake or disturb someone, or when I really want to work on fine muscle control.

    Hi Drumeo, what do you recommend as a good pair of sticks for a beginner drummer, type and size? Thanks in advance

    • @DrumeoOfficial
      @DrumeoOfficial  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +nadeem said - A great first pair to purchase is the 5A size from Vic Firth! It's their most popular drum stick. Once you play for a little bit and get to test out different models, you'll find yourself gravitating towards certain sizes. It's a process! Also be sure to check out our Drumeo custom model: www.Drumeo.com/signature-drumsticks/

      Tension is the opposite of motion.

    • @ayoungethan
      @ayoungethan ปีที่แล้ว

      you need to stay slow and work just at the threshold of your ability to play smoothly while relaxed. speed comes with time. I've gotten there with other instruments but not there yet with the drums...relaxed means slooooow. Also check out Kenny Werner's Effortless Mastery, he covers a lot of the psychology of it.
