There needs to be a Season 2. The first season was just too good to let it end here. Hal Wyler has to live---he is really important to making this show move smoothly. Madame Ambassador cannot carry the show all by herself.
Love Hal's character. He is funny, insightful and just what "Katherine" needs, even though she doesn't realize it. The dynamics of their marriage is so entertaining - I hope the writers keep it going.

My wife, friends and I just finished season 1 and I must say it was really good and brilliant, on top of it you get to learn more about the insane politics in foreign relations. The series was funny, dramatic and thrilling. Also, Rufus Sewell as Ambassador Hal Wyler is our favorite character, we love the chemistry between his character and Keri’s as the main role, it is bold and cute which is humorous and enjoyable to watch which I think makes the series even better. Rufus’ such a charismatic great actor and is perfect for the mysterious politician character of Hal. I hope he stays up until the coming season. Overall tho, we loved it 💯
I disagree about this ending. I think Kate has realised the Hal was right and not seeing the limelight. That’s the realisation post understanding Toubridge. Kate caused it by ringing the English political operative. Great show.
We need S2 to see Hal take some kind of responsibility for gaming Kate for his own profit. Love her character. Ronnie was standing right beside that guy and his car. Awful loss, if it plays that way. One could say Kate stopped Hal from being the one that close. So much could be developed from S1. I like Kate and Dennison. He's decent. There has to be a S2-S8, at least. Supporting the Writer's strike but hoping for an early resolution.

If Trowbridge is responsible for the attach I think its a BS twist. I preferred when this was sticking to more realistic story lines. Blaming the British for the death of 40 servicemen is ridiculous verging on Qnon conspiracy theory.
False flag attacks are fairly common to be honest. The USS Maine, Gulf of Tonkin, Iraq's WMDs, Operation Northwoods and so on are examples where if the US wanted to raise patriotism, they conduct a false flag operation and blame it on a foreign state. Trowbridge hiring a Russian Mercenary group to blow up a portion of an Aircraft Carrier group kinda seems feasible.
I loved the show, but hated that Kate is always so angry. Never, ever smiles. They always portray women in high positions this way, and I don’t think it’s necessary. Looks they are trying really hard to prove how tough they are.
But then….would you say the same if roles were reversed. Let’s say Hal was the ambassador and he was “never smiling”. Would you also be bothered about that or even notice? What I didn’t like about her character was the stupid fighting in the bush scene which made her look like a lunatic and kind of threw away her credibility. And also her indecisiveness towards Hall. Like she wanted him there, yet she didn’t. She wanted a divorce, then she didn’t and then she did. She wanted his advice but wanted him gone at the same time.

It's the worst show I have seen. Everyone appears to be busy all the time and acts like a Narcassist. They don't want attention of the public but the people around them. Then they try to sound smart by talking really fast and there is no proper introduction as to what is going on in the show unless you watch till Episode 2 .... Hal is decent but everyone else is unlikable.
In real life the carrier would have never been hit by anything short of a mass saturation attack from high tech missiles considering it’s always escorted
Hal’s character is a good example of a politician who will use anything and anybody to get what he wants even destroying his wife and his marriage. I rather see the ambassador with Foreign Secretary Dennison handsome, smart, companionate and good hearted towards Madame Ambassador. I would rather see that develop 😮❤

Yes nations have gone to war to unite/distract the populace but its just so unlikely. Now he is killing everyone to keep a lid on it? I didn't care for the last episode at all minus a few moments. I knew this show was to good to be true, i kept waiting for it to go stupid and it never did, up to the last episode I was thinking this is one of my favorite shows i have watched in years. Then...... they microwaved the end to have a cliff hanger. Lame.

I love these kind of videos and I loved The Diplomat. Just as a pointer, if the narration wasn't so fast-paced, it would be much easier to tollow.
