This underwater trout strike footage is incredible!
There's a big gap in our knowledge of catching fish...
We know where they strike and what they strike... but not HOW they strike.
And this gap is likely costing us fish because we could be missing something in the strike, right?
So I attached a camera to my line before my lure and hit some grass flats to see if I could get some footage of trout striking my lure.
I caught several trout over 20" and the footage was fascinating!

Fascinating video. Very cool to see how similar each of the strikes were. They were so consistent in flipping the tail of the lure up. I’m trying to visualize what the camera looks like that you can attach to a fishing line. Can you show it in the next video?

Another observation is that they really seem to like attacking from below. Perhaps that means it’s best to retrieve the lure well above the bottom (when targeting trout), not bouncing along the bottom. Cool video!

Love these photos....where I live and fish speckled trout always hit the head of the live shrimp or minnow I typically use (fished under an old fashioned 8”-10” cork with a 1-1/4” bullet sinker, mono leader) it’s why I always hook shrimp under his horn or a mud minnow through the lips. Fish around Savannah where the tides change 7 or 8 ft on avg. redfish will hit the bait more from behind it seems to me.

That’s crazy! I’ve never seen that before, they almost act like flounder except they turn left instead of just swimming with the drift in a straight line. Lovin my new slam shadys!

I also think the trout sometimes stun the bait then come back and eat it. I don't know if it's a school mentality though, where if one stuns or misses it the other will grab it. Great video

Great video guys. Would like to see how other fish are hitting the bait. So by hitting the tail up, the bait gets eaten head first. All makes sense now. 👍🏻

Hello SS , one thing to consider on soft plastic lures is : there r many soft plastics that r ‘glued ‘ from main body to a seperate , differently molded tail that r Not Strong Enough to withstand multiple strikes even from pinfish ,,,, It’s a disservice to the consumer ( our angling citizens ) ,,, we all expect a decent , moderately durable soft plastic for our coin ,,, of course ‘ Da Slam Shady is Tuff , Resilient & Jammed w Juice & that’s Awesome For Sure ! ‘ But if y’all decide to go two tone Please make sure the lure tail won’t Popp Off ,,, Thnx Guys GB ✨

IF in this video: YOU USED 'fluro" leader---definitely down plays its selling "aspect" as being 100% invisible underwater!!!

Seems Speckled trout are not at all line shy, going by this video.✔
This was actually high-end line (Seaguar Premier 100% Fluoro)... surprising how easy it is to see it.
That makes this video a double whammy !! What a surprise, I thought Luke only used mono as he said fluorocarbon does not seem to help. That shed of grass is award winning !🥇

There didn’t seem to be any short strikes, so a stinger hook wouldn’t help at all.
Correct. Stinger hooks are not needed for seatrout.
Makes sense if you think about it. Fish eat their prey head first in order to be able to swallow it.
