@@avianroyalty1158 In case of Claudia, I suspect she has this universes' version of Aspergers. Two common symptoms are difficulty to communicate your thoughts and problems predicting how your actions might look to others. Like, the tapping her nose thing, when Viren had to remind her that he cannot read her mind, or her tendency to say disturbing things without noticing that others would find them strange.
The creators basically confirmed that they share a two brain cells

I really love Soren & Claudia"s interactions with one another. They act like goobers to eachother to lighten the tension, and are more serious when they need to be. Like a real brother/sister connection.

I can’t remember the last time I watched a show where a dark magic user and her sword master brother, who are supposed to present a serious obstacle to the heroes, were portrayed as goofballs as opposed to murderous psychopaths. I mean, outside the 1980s that is.

Honestly, I think that the characters really come into their own in season 2. It's always nice to see another video from you guys! Keep up the good work!
Yeah, the characters are kinda badly portrayed in season 2, especially the 'villain family.' It really feels like they didn't come out with their best in the first season.
Not that I'm complaining, I love watching a show get better with each season.

Viren is obsessed with the idea of being Katolis's servent, just like Harrow said. Every action he takes is for what he feels to be "the greater good," poorly defined as that may be. He is the epitome of the one who would pull the lever in the trolley problem.
He's not crazy, just delusional, obsessive, and extremely ruthless.

I don't really think Claudia is evil, she's just been taught some questionable right and wrong, she means well. As for intelligence, yeah, she's a bit weird and scatterbrained. I can't read Soren though, it feels like the creators aren't sure what they want to do with him. that subtle chocolate advertising though.

Okay I hope that you're not just skipping the end credits because its honestly some of the best parts of the show. With just a few pictures they do a lot to expand on the character's backstories.

@@mithrandirsilvertongue1406 I suppose it's technically not the most important stuff, but each credit sequence is basically a slideshow of sketches. Most of the stuff you see is pretty basic, like items that were relevant to the episode, but in every episode at least one of the images shows more interesting stuff like Viren bonding with his children when they were younger (Showing that he at least was a caring father, if he still isn't now, at least deep down) and Avaros's hand in the mirror in season one (Naturally foreshadowing his introduction in season two). One of the more discussed things from the credits are two images that seem to imply that Runaan has a boyfriend back home.

One thing that bothers me about this show is that they are trying to have a nuanced 'villain' character who isn't just evil and wants power for evil's sake, but all the characters look at him with a, 'You a bad man!' kind of face despite the fact he was the King's most trusted friend/adviser/court mage.
I honestly wish he were like 30% less overtly evil (Until the later episodes) and people were 50% less suspicious of him. The series really suffers because of this in the first season. And while season 2 is a bit better with him, they still have this issue.
Loving the series, the Dragon Prince as well as the sibling sass, both have been an absolute blast.
I know, right? Like, he is set up to be complex and conflicted and suddenly he's one step away from "The same thing as always, Soren, trying to take over the world!"
well, I feel its mostly because of the shear lack of time we spend on lord virgin- ahem, lord viren himself. Its pretty much a necessity for him to look evil in these first few seasons because we spend very little time in the capitol to properly explore his many, many, MANY secrets; in addition, the murder of the king and suspected kidnapping of his children has sent Katolis to fucking anarchy- express shipping, making him have to take quick and drastic measures to seize what power he can.
The idea of the council not trusting him isn't that surprising to me, I mean the (assumed) religious leader of Katolis distrusts him because he made a blatant power grab for the throne by speeding up the coronation process to moc 10 and General Amaya doesn't trust him because- well, she knows he is filled to the brim with shit and has been a key player in every tragedy that lead up to the, "death" of King Harrow.
@Athkore, I don't agree that Viren is a stereotypical bad guy who wants power He wants power, but he wants to better the kingdom with it. And he has a good reason to want to overthrow Harrow. In season 2, we even get a better look at how Harrow made some poor decisions as king (such as letting some of his own people die for the sake of letting another kingdom that was running out of food live). It's stuff like that this makes Viren's questioning of Harrow not black and white, and his reasoning for wanting to take his place more fleshed out.

My point was that Viren isn't just a villain, he has nuance, but the series fails to show that in season 1, they show enough to see he isn't just a villain, but the characters treat him as though he were the worst person in the world, despite the fact he has been the king's right hand man for who knows how many years (And has even saved thousands of lives in his kingdom after the king put them all in danger) In fact, after all the good he has done, people should should love him.
My point is, he is supposed to be a very deep character, but when everyone in the series hates or fears him, he just comes across as a bad guy for evil sake and not a man trying to do the right thing in the wrong way.
@@Athkore I feel like season 1 does a good job of showing a balance between people that honor and respect Viren, and those that suspect he's up to no good. For example; you have the people at the coronation who trust and respect Viren. Then you have Sauren and Claudia who respect Viren but see that something about his motives aren't right. And then have you have the deaf girl and her cohorts, who find it odd that the king just vanished and suspect that Viren may be behind it, even warning others that Viren shouldn't be trusted.
If Soren is Scorpia, would that mean Claudia is Entrapta?
Expect they are actually entertaining and Claudie does not try to destroy the world

I love this show but yeah, these characters picked the absolute dumbest way to deal with thin ice. This is the type of stuff even young children are supposed to know. Especially since the show established that the Princes have had winter holidays with snow and everything.
One of my favorite things about this show is how they have an awesome character who has a disability! And yes, that IS real ASL that Amaya is using. I'm non-verbal and use some sign language, so it's fun knowing what she's signing when nobody else does. Lol
