Hi Joe, during the current situation (COVID-19 lockdown) I decided to buy a keyboard a week ago as I’ve always wanted to learn the piano, but could never find the time. A week later and with the help of TH-cam tutorials (especially yours) I’m playing some of my favourite songs! Thank you so much. Your tutorials are the best on TH-cam. Softly spoken with no unnecessary jargon. Precise and relevant information expressed in a friendly and informal way, which makes you confident that you’ll eventually learn the songs. Thanks again. 🎹😊
Can you make an other song of The Smiths I love them 😍 (Like there is a light, charming man, girlfriend in a coma...) And also a very beautiful song from stranger things : « The first I love you »
I got my keyboard few days ago. First song I decided to learn is Lose Yourself. But then I remembered Asleep and watching this, trying as hard as I can. I'm like wth is that one two three, you pushing more than 3 keys. As absurd as it looks I'm learning anyway. I feel like you broke it into parts and it easier to see and remember which keys I should press. But also I feel the rhythm. Love this song and thank you for teaching it. I'll comment below updates. Hope to learn it. Doesn't matter how much time it'll pass, I want to perfect it :))) as a full beginner without any knowledge, hope to get results at least in a month. :)
This is amazing. Would you ever create a teaching video like this with the keys described by notes? My sad knowledge asks that I key by basic note knowledge instead of visual understanding of where your fingers are moving.
Thank you for your video always loved this song, I am a guitarist & singer in a band and produce lots of music with half decent keyboard/piano skills but primarily I’ve always been a guitarist, but after stumbling upon your tutorial on Friday I’ve been practicing it a fair bit, it’s now Saturday evening the day after and I now know all the sections and I am playing them reasonably well, they are now in my head so with a bit more practice I’m sure I’ll tighten it all up and will be playing it fluently very soon! So many thanks, it’s not as difficult as I thought once you get the timing and syncopation correct, it definitely helps being in Am/C. Thanks again Stephen.
@@HDpiano hey george, for hdp videos I use the maverick native instruments sample library with kontakt. I've got a chain of plugins such as bass enhancer, eq, limiter and compressor on the channel strip. I'd reccomend NI's other sample library The Giant too. Amazing sound
I can play quite a bit of songs on piano and guitar. But man.. I just can NOT get the timing on this. I do not understand odd time signatures and counting them out like I just don’t get it. Wish you could go more in depth on it, kinda rushed it but oh well. One day I’ll get it. Tool uses a lot of odd time signatures so if I can learn their shit I’m sure one day I’ll get this.
Yeah, this one is tricky - 3/4, swung eighth notes, syncopation, lots of times with eighth notes anticipating the start of the next measure. As always, we recommend slowing it wayyy down at first. Be patient; it will come!
Our mission is to teach people their favorite songs _without_ written notation. However, making sheet music as a part of our internal workflow, so *we sell them on Musicnotes to those interested.* You'll find corresponding sheets for most of our tutorials by searching the song name and "HDpiano" in their catalog. Hope this helps!
Great tutorial but I really wish you'd stop rushing through each part so quick! I have to pause and rewind every half second just to get the timing of each peice and sometimes the mistakes still show up on the keyboard so it's hard to tell what's part of the song and not :/

This song is absolutely incredible.
How did Johnny Marr write all this stuff so young. I never new how he learned piano on top of the guitar. Blows my mind always.

PS I used to play in a band. Drums/lead vocals which was heavily piano based. You may enjoy it! Search Thirty Three Connection on TH-cam. 👍

wait not to be rude but this doesn’t sound anything like the song??? idk maybe i’m wrong but it don’t sound the same to me
This is a note for note transcription of the piano part! Of course, adding the sung melody helps a lot in bringing it all together.
