The duel throttle bodies on the Roush is so cool. I’d go with that if I had this year Mustang.
That's a good observation. I like the red lid and the dual throttle bodies as well....plus the whine
Damn that Roush sounds so good!
@@xxdee1nonlyxx no denying that.... definitely sounds menacing!
Was not expecting the start of that video....holy crap! That thing sounds WICKED!
Roush looks so much cooler
@NickVazquez_5.2 i agree on that and sounds cooler too
That Whipple car sounds like it’s got headers. Definitely helps its case a tad.
@@NickVazquez_5.2 it does😆...... with cats though they said
most headers have “highflow” cats, definitely more free flowing and with boost it makes a big difference
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible day.
@@timwindsor03 thanks tim! You tooo!
Good video dude! Both cars / kits are impressive in my opinion 🤘🏼
@Wimya thank you sir! Agreed..... let's go roast some EVs
I’ll be in the area next month, let’s do it! 😈
Keep me posted!
I agree on your stage 1/2 take and the the Roush "Phase 2" is a better comparison to a stage 1 whipple, especially since they both have to play in the CARB restrictions and both having RPMs limited for warranty reasons.
@@Lundbasefiletooner great points in deed! Thank you for paying attention!
at the end of the day they both make around the same power with the same mods applied I just personally like the roush blower because it keeps the dual inlets which makes the s650 unique.
100% agree. Can't argue with that at all. At the end of the day, real world experience and track times matter. They will both run a similar number with similar mods....only difference is the noise the Roush makes is incredible!
another quality vid! can't wait to see an update with no carbon filters and exhaust on the roush
@MrJgrub002 we will see what the future owner of the Roush wants to do. Last night further sold him on the car! So any future mods will be up to him
@@THEDriverMod_ oh snap! Making room for the GTD huh? 😏 He's gonna be very happy with the car
@@MrJgrub002 yessir. Doing everything I can possible to make it happen!
Alright, let's hit the road course and see how fast you can go with the same tires and mods. Cool video!
Let's do it! ......1 lap in.....awwww man, I'm in limp mode because of my oil temp! Dang it...
I dont think it was nearly as much apples to apples as Justin thinks. Fuel, yeah. But one with paper filters/carbron traps and stock exhaust.... versus better filters, less restrictive flaps and headers. I think the Roush would be within 20hp. Considering the size difference, just shows how well the 2650 still performs.
100% agree. That's why I'm glad i set it up in the beginning like I did. I left yesterday's experience liking the Roush just that much more! Thanks for the feedback and paying attention to the details!
@@THEDriverMod_ I enjoy the content! And we all know, GT350 is still king daddy.
@@scalla1384 facts..... there's a reason it's 8.5 years old and still remains NA ....just a raw, real satisfying experience!
Great Video bro. Let’s try to make the stage 1 vs Roush happen!
@PopsGT5.0 you're on brother! Bring it!
Remove the longtube and stop the rpm at 7300 to make it fair, like the Roush supercharger is tune at from Roush. Nice hp&tq. So it is a much cooler at night for the vmp car making some extra hp.😊
The Roush and the Whipple pulls were both done with in the same hour of each other, roughly 7-8pm....I would say the difference in the temp may have been a degree 2. The whipple did get to sit longer while the Roush went on the dyno first. Neither of which would make up 60 hp. But all the little things add up
@@THEDriverMod_ Let installed the longtube on the Roush with x-pipe and cat- back, just like the VMP has I garanty you you be close to 700hp. Then let bring both car for a 1/4 milles pass with drag tire for bragging rights.😎👍💪😊
Stage2 is a much bigger throttle body bigger injectors , stronger fuel pump, more times in the tune etc! There is a definite difference.
Comparison seems null when the Whipple car has headers & performance exhaust while the Roush has stock exhaust and stock manifolds. Definitely not apples to apples comparison!
Was the tune on the Whipple car custom tune OR the base Whipple (warranty) tune?
The Roush seemed to be the base conservative Roush (warranty) tune..
What size pulley did each car have?
While this wasn't the best apples to apples comparison that there possibly could be....this has been the closest one out there due to soo many other variables being taken out of the equation....same fuel, same dyno, same heat and humidity
The shop neighbors musta loved you guys last night lol I can't get over the Roush whine. All things considered, the fact the roush had the most restrictive intake and exhaust, is a smaller displacement, at the same boost level and was ONLY 60hp down.... I can't say I'm disappointed with the Roush at all. Put some high flow filters, ditch the carbon traps, active mufflers and some long tubes, re run it with all things the same again and see where things end up.
@@Lundbasefiletooner I'm sure they are used to it by now.....
That roush car is bad ass
@mikes1292 I'm partial, but I agree, the Red lid, those Forge GTD style wheels....Carbon wing.... looks great, sounds great.... some improvements and quality issues to correct but it'll get there
Wowwowowo that Roush is cherrry***
The Whipple car got a free flowing exhaust as well as an aftermarket cai, and your car is restricted in both ends. They played you to get a vid for their channel, sale tactics. I’m sorry though.
@Subarashii-naniii i was the one that asked them if we could do this, I laid it all out at the beginning of the video. It went exactly as I expected. If they want to put there own "spin" on it, they definitely are free to do so.... no one got "played" though.
The Roush would have closed that power Gap if the Roush tune let it rev.
I think so too
“Stages” are for non car people. Anyone who uses stages to describe their build, obviously doesn’t know jack shiz about their car.
Agreed, people just want accurate info
LOL at which point was the video in anyway comparable. News flash modded whipple car makes more power...shock horror.
The Roush kit is equivalent to the stage 1 whipple. And both can have a warranty. This is a Whipple stage 2 kit...with headers, x pipe and intake.
This is not a valid test. You are not comparing apples to apples based on mods to the vehicles. Justin pushes the VMP/Whipples brand (we all get why) but the black car has headers which he refuses to point out on his own until someone brings it up. It's comical.
Hence why I'm not at all disappointed with this result. Since potential fueling difference was removed from the equation, factor in the bigger blower running the same boost, with headers, active exhaust (which is good for 4-5 on the NA stock cars) hence why the active exhaust cars are rated at 486hp vs non active rated at 480hp and the high flow filters with out carbon traps on the whipple side, 60hp can quickly be widdled down if you do the same mods to the Roush
@@THEDriverMod_ I really think once forced induction is brought into the equation the horsepower differences are far greater with a free-flowing exhaust as opposed to an N/A setup. Boost numbers are also obscured on this test since we all know a free-flowing exhaust will probably drop boost numbers because it has a far less restriction. Remember boost is a measure of restriction.
On top of that, VMP needs to sell the VMP/Whipple blowers. Who is to say they were not able to manipulate the results as well. They are automatically biased on this test.
A far better test would be one vehicle with the two different blower setups. Not done by VMP and is performed by a neutral shop that has no skin in the game.
@rayiniguez7341 i understand your concern, I was right there with them as we went over the data logs. I'll be doing an outside test as well to verify the results though it will be with a different car, different dyno as i know that's the best way to remove them as a variable. Yes they made 13 psi with a less restrictive exhaust, while I made 13 psi with the most restrictive exhaust there is. It's not purely apples to apples but at least it's not bread vs candy.
Roush Phase 2 is completely marketing tactics. There is no phase 1 and puts down less than whipples stage 1 kit. I just got my Dark Horse last night. I can get a deal on a warrantied whipple vs Roush. Roush is not a warranty its a service contract for additional money thats through the installer. I would be concerned if on the Roush the motor fails and they wont cover it.
@Topofthelinetommy if your worried about who's responsibility it is if something breaks, you bought to much car. Warranty shouldn't be your first reaction to go through.... pay to fix your stuff yourself
You can buy a 2024 supercharged Mustang from Lebanon Ford with 810 HP with a 3 yr., 36,0000mile warantee for $49,995.00!!! AND more HP is available WITHOUT a warrantee!
That Roush sounds soooo good but that VMP is 💪🏼 strong. I wish you both would have had the same mods equally to fairly compare. Even so, if you can go back in time, would you still choose the Roush over VMP? Did you get the Roush because the warranty option?
@ceeztronomis i wouldn't change my mind. I'll just say I'm excited for what happens in the future! The stage 1 whipple has a warranty too. But if you're worried about warranty, it wouldnt be modifying cars period.....and that's no fun😂
@ceeztronomis like for like mods would be fun and interesting
AMRY here. Yall STILL can’t do an apples for apples comparison can ya?
I mean I guess the only thing I would change to make it "apples to apples" is the mods
@@THEDriverMod_ duh. No shit Sherlock.
@CoyoteCrimeLord definitely looking forward to Alex's view on this. as 'inaccurate" as a test this was as far as the kits themselves go, it does kinda pull the pants down on the whole "whipple stage 2" making 800 wheel on 93 without octane booster.....chickens came home to roost on that one for sure!
Just to add to the apples to apples convo.
Testing the whipple car after dark it’s safe to say it’s ten degrees cooler.
@treehound the Roush pulled were done between 715 and 740 and the Whipple car was done between 740 and 8. Sooo maybe a degree or 2 difference at best
Do you think running some drag radials like the nitto nt555r2 on stock PP 9.5 wheels (275/40/19) will handle this kind of power? Im most likely going to go with the roush supercharger but i really like my stock PP bronze wheels that came with the car. Thanks in advance your content is awesome!
@@xxdee1nonlyxx i unfortunately don't know the answer to your question. It could work just fine on one surface and not on another. Hard to say
@xxdee1nonlyxx thanks for the feedback though, I appreciate it.

Roush for the win 🏆
@@sea.porsche W for 🇺🇲
My argument is and will remain to be, why pay for a less efficient system. On the s550 platform, we got like for like cars, with the whipple system providing more power on the same boost, and a system that doesn't heat soak as quick as any other. We've yet to see this with s650, and thats what we really need to see.
@pheonixfps9248 we just demonstrated the Roush heat soak issues are solved with this generation, Justin even said it in the video himself. 2nd pull actually put down more power than the first, unlike the whipple. The Roush went straight on the dyno after driving back from the gas station to while the whipple was cooling off.
@THEDriverMod_ runs on a dyno are one thing, and it doesn't truly display heatsoak issues. What does is circuit work. I'm a mechanic myself, so i'm not ignoring how much better the systems are, but we still need to see the systems pushed to their limits of when the heatsoak/management is no longer manageable.
However, what does make me curious is why vmp dumped magnuson for the s650 and went whipple, or was it more of the fact a bigger name like rousch got involved with magnuson, and magnuson said bye to vmp....I would be very curious to see.
@@pheonixfps9248 we will probably never know the truth
@THEDriverMod_ True. I will admit I did become a major fan of the whipple and it's efficiency on the s550, but i'm loosing that with the amount of failures I'm starting to see. I would like to see the current rousch kit offered for the s550, over the VMP
@@THEDriverMod_ could you line up a comparison between the Rousch and the s650 ESS kit when it comes out? I'd love to see that.
Just watch brenspeed for legit data first couple minutes of this video are killing me just get to the point
Gotta put things into perspective and be informative. It's important because there are far less questions and excuses if you go about it like that.
they sprinkled in some octane booster!
I mean I was there the whole time, I didn't see anything like thata
Headers do not gain 10-15 hp 💀 I’d love to see it with headers.
@DavidHernandez-my9zw subject matter expert said they only gained 10-15. I'm not here to argue, that's yalls job. I appreciate you checking the video out and leaving some feedback!
@@THEDriverMod_I think I’ve seen you in the Alejandro Flores lives before. We both know what’s up haha. Can’t wait to see how far you take the roush. I’m sticking with my gen 2 6r80 car. 2.3 roush phase 2. Made 660 to the wheels on the same vmp dyno in July 99 degree weather. 10psi with headers intake and a throttle body. Safe to say you know who I’m tuned by 😮
@@DavidHernandez-my9zw all good man, I ment no disrespect. I'll definitely be doing some more testing before I sell the car in the spring. I hope tuning gets opened up before then and then the same people who tuned your car will be asked to tune mine🇺🇲
Yeah it’s actually worse, aftermarket headers with cats LOSE HP, probably 10-15. The OEM cats are that good !
😮
Did the results suprise you? How close do you think it would be if the mods were the same, they said it had "cats" but let's be real, I genuinely don't think it did. Put cats on it and it was probably making 14-15psi or so
What happened to your interior? Weight savings?
Sent off to make molds for carbon fiber versions to be made for the future for a brand i work along with for them to sell
It’s not a VMP it’s a Whipple. The Roush is an Odin. Same blower. You’re about to make me puke moving the camera around.
@freedom6919741 might as well say the Roush is a Magnuson, not an Odin if you are gonna play internet police....who cares. You knew which one was which ....riiiiiiight?
@@THEDriverMod_ it’s the same blower Roush, VMP, Magnuson.
So full exhaust and headers with 500 extra rpm and only 50 more whp.
@philipshaffer401 correct, and higher flow intake filters with no carbon traps. Not tooo bad of a difference now
@@THEDriverMod_ yea i just added more to my comment. Plus i don't put much credit behind vmp seems he just tries to up sell or cheerleads whatever brand he sells at the time .
@philipshaffer401 we will see what happens in the future. I've loved the "Odin" ever since I met JD at a cars and coffee with one and my friend put one on his GT350
@@THEDriverMod_ inthink the Odin was limited to around 1000whp with the smaller single inlet . That was most i seen it make anyways. The roush will be higher and closer to the vmp g3r which was the blower that has made 1100whp on multiple different mod motors and coyotes

Whipple hands down takes the crown for the S650 Mustang! I don’t get why anyone would settle for a Roush when you can unleash real power with a Whipple. With the insane top-end gains and unmatched tuning flexibility, Whipple is the only choice for anyone serious about pushing the limits. Sure, Roush is great for a 'safe' upgrade, but if you're just looking for a factory-friendly setup, why even bother supercharging? Whipple's twin-screw design and massive power potential blow Roush out of the water. Anyone still sticking with Roush might as well leave their Mustang stock. 💥🚗💨
@ToddMaxey anyone who leaves their mustang stock shoulda bought a Tesla😂
This guy sounds like a whipple/VMP rep LOL I mean who else would take the time to write all that out 😂
@@victorxavier9977 Nope, just someone with an S650 with a Stage 2 Whipple and knows what it's capable of. 🙂
Because you got a Whipple it must be best, just ask un-credible you painting the new updated unmatched Roush the same as previous system.. And not everyone wants to wick their car to the edge of catastrophe when engines & inconveniences cost as much as they do. One things for sure, there will ALWAYS be someone faster than you or me lol
@@rw17778 Fair point on not everyone wanting to push their car to the limit. But here’s the thing-Whipple’s proven performance isn’t just about taking your Mustang to the edge of catastrophe. It’s about offering more flexibility and better long-term potential. Sure, Roush is updated, but at the end of the day, it’s still designed with factory-level safety in mind, which means compromising on peak power. Whipple gives you that next-level performance while still being reliable when tuned correctly.
And about someone always being faster-that's exactly why Whipple owners prefer to be ahead of the pack in the first place! Why settle for less when you can dominate?
