If you are happy with the dentist you are working with, we recommend discussing this option with them. If they need assistance connecting with a digital lab who can produce these, you are welcome to send an email to whipmix@whipmix.com and we can work to connect you.

    Is there a reason you did not initially choose the post palatal seal when selecting the borders for the maxillary?

    • @brycehiller
      @brycehiller 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes! Many of our customer find that a a post-palatal seal is not necessary due to how true-to-fit a DLP manufactured denture is. I excluded the post-palatal seal because many patients have such so much suction with digital dentures that a postdam makes it too difficult to remove the prosthesis.

      Unfortunately, we do not have videos on this. Though repairs and fixing digital dentures is as easy as reprinting the denture and or changing the design with the design software. The same is for realigns. With 3 shape there is a copy denture feature, where you scan in the denture and make changes and re print. I hope this answers your questions. If you only put a few drops of glue instead of gluing the whole area of the bottom of the teeth would't that leave space between the teeth and the plate causing space for food/debris to collect? I would prefer that the teeth and plate be a solidly glued together without any space.

    • @brycehiller
      @brycehiller 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Daniel,
      To answer your question: Yes and No. Allow me to elaborate.
      When I refer to a "few drops" of resin, what I'm doing is spreading out those few drops of resin and making sure that there is a small amount of resin in each tooth pocket. It's ok if you get too much. The resin will ooze out of the pockets once you insert the teeth and you can then use a cloth/paper towel to clean off the excess resin. If you were to not spread out those few drops of resin, then yes, you would have areas with voids. The key is to spread out the resin amongst all tooth pockets for the strongest chemical bond. I hope this helps!

    I differentiate between " intrinsic undercuts" and "insertion direction undercuts". An Intrinsic undercut is an undercut where a part nearer to the point where the insertion starts is wider than a part further away from the insertion. Intrinsic undercuts exist both in (partial) dentures and crown and bridge work. On the other hand: "Insertion direction undercuts" are rare: They only exist where an insertion direction is FORCED. In full dentures this is NEVER the case, except when making an over denture on parallel posts. Hence I am surprised to see the technician create an "insertion direction undercut" by tilting the model. compare 5:16 to 5:25 ! For the patient it won't make any difference to how he / she inserts the denture. The patient is free to try from any direction bot will find the mos't convenient way. But by creating an insertion direction undercut in the software and subsequently blocking it out the fit of the denture is dramatically and totally unnecessarily compromised!!

    • @ronrosenthal3421
      @ronrosenthal3421 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Jan-maarten, this video is not designed to teach or instruct on how to identify the path of insertion or blocking out of undercuts. The purpose of this video was to demonstrate the capabilities of 3Shape Denture Design Software, and to highlight the available tooling and functionalities within the design suite. Insertion Direction of a Denture and Denture Undercuts being properly identified and understood within the software and laboratory construct, is another subject and training in itself. Thank you for pointing this out and note that our intentions were not to instruct in a way that would compromise any Dentures functionality, fit or form, within the oral cavity.
