    Hello. The cartridge is a Rega Exact. I have one on a P3 and love the yellow although not everyone does! I had a 2M Bronze previously but the sound was too clinical and lean for me and I much prefer the slightly less detailed but warmer sounding Exact.

    Ortofon makes 2MR Red, Blue, Bronze and Black cartridges just for Rega (R) in 2MR and they are shorter in height.

    I just finished recapping an AKAI AM-11U integrated and serviced an AKAI AP-100C turntable, sat down to chill, flipped on youtube and here you are again with another cool video. I'd be interested to see the W&F / speed before and after service. Im not a fan of the table, but that tone arm looks dope. Isn't that amazon scale awesome? Best money I ever spent.

    Wow. I am shocked at how good that record sounded even through compression of your camera mic and youtube.

      TH-cam doesn't do it justice at all. Even a lowly Rega P1 with a low end cartridge sounds FAR better than You Tube audio.

    I clicked in to see how closely the shape of the 2M cartridge resembled the shape of the Rega arm casting where the cartridge mounts, since I noticed the similarities as soon as the cartridges were announced .
    I didn't really get the exact shot I needed, but it might be that Ortofon looked at the market and saw a clear way to imply a match to a very popular arm that their target market might own, or it could be that rega took that head shell shape for the same reason ortofon stated with their cartridge body, that the shape best controlled reflected audio energy . Which doesn't really explain all the other cartridges they sell with parallel sides. I guess when another new product line comes out, and if it uses a similar body, we will know.

    Hi, Good video. I downloaded the Rega/Stevenson protractor, however my problem is the 140 mm and 200 mm parameters. I have been unable to print the measurements exactly. Is there setting/adjustment in the software to do this?

    fun stuff. I'm 73 , have zero chance of changing a cartridge on that...hard enough I barely got it done on a Thorens. is the completely removable plug in headshell an SME design, that's the way to go. and are there any hi fi shops within 75 mile of here , nope. even the malls are disappearing to online shopping.

      if you have a big screen TV, it is sometimes possible to to hook up a usb microscope to a video input, giving a very easy to see magnification, much like using an optical comparator.

    An RP8 should have twin belts. Speed switching is done by the PSU not the pulley. Pulley grooves are the same size on this model.

      I did eventually realize that. The customer delivered two brand new belts the next day.

    350 CAD is a nice deal, and it shares the body with a 2m black if the owner wants to upgrade later without doing a new alignment.
    My only point of disagreement might be the decision to align to Stevenson. I have a Rega RB2000 on an Avid Volvere w/a Cadenza Bronze. It sounds better to my ear with Baerwald/Lofgren A. However, not knowing what the owner’s record collection is makes my argument debatable.

    • @richardelliott8352
      @richardelliott8352 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was just hearing the Rega founder speak, during a TH-cam discussion, to the selected alignment that Rega uses. His position was the differences between the three major alignment system's errors were so insignificant as to be trivial . When one gets down to selecting alignment strategies according to the age of one's records, that's putting too fine of a point on things for me, but then that's probably why the guy prefers a certain alignment method.
      For me, a slightly greater error across the face of the record is paid back with slightly less error in the section of the record known to be more easily distorted. But my calibration tool doesn't do that alignment , so I don't run it, and the difference is insignificant to my purposes.anyway.

    Came with glass platter.

  • @len9518
    @len9518 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Manual says the platter is glass. Interesting that there are no specs in the manual for speed accuacy, speed drift, wow & flutter, or rumble. You would think for $3,500, this info would be available. What are they hiding? Too much spondle oil. These are ultraclose tolerances, and don't need a ton of oil. 2 drops on spindle was all you needed.

      Extra spindle oil seeps out at top and then absorbed with a paper towel. You cannot over fill it. And, I'd rather be sure than not have enough.

    A downgrade for sure. The Rega Exact is a better overall cartridge than the Bronze. The Rega Exact is a direct rival for the 2M Black. Surprised that someone would run a MM cartridge on an expensive turntable.

    Oh dear, why must Americans fiddle with things. The Rega main bearing comes with lifetime lubrication and needs no service. Fitting a new drive belt should last your deck many years. If you don't fiddle around with this deck, it will last you a lifetime without all this faffing around.

      @@tonysvinyl2214 without knowing the construction of the bearing , you might be incorrect. Some turntable main bearings have a zero tolerance construction, where there is no room for an oil film, and oil could conceivably damage the non metal surfaces. These things are running at 33 1/3 rpm , it's a very slow machine and things wear differently without a lot of heat.
