this video is on the simpler side since Im not the very best at composition myself
but I had a lot of help from some friends who knew the topic better than me so thank you so much to both of you!

I interpret the golden ratio as being less about that curve you showed and more about the ratio -- that is the series of numbers and their relation towards each other. The Fibonacci sequence 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc is related to the golden ratio in that the farther along in the sequence you go, the closer n/n-1 gets to the golden ratio (1.618...). When the golden ratio is used in art, I don't think people generally derive much from the golden spiral -- to me it seems like the spiral can basically fit anything if you try hard enough -- but from a ratio, a literal number. What I mean is that people look at something like the Fibonacci sequence and use it for the purpose of constructing hierarchy in their art. Someone might have a small box with a width of 1 foot, another with a width of 2, then 3, 5, etc. This could draw the eye not based on some invisible curve, but based on actual proportion. It creates emphasis in a basic way. You could also use other sequences to do this. For example n^2: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, etc.
