In a situation where the evil inclination is extremely powerful, sometimes the Torah itself makes SOME allowance for slaking it. We don’t make such concessions on our own, but the Torah can permit certain things to avoid something worse. For example, the Sages say that we are forbidden (on pain of death) from committing adultery, but the Torah allows us to marry a divorcée.
The 5 MINUTE interruption of your sleep to learn Torah, sounds like you need maybe a half hour or more getting dressed, going to the Yeshiva, starting, returning, getting back undressed and going to bed. By the time that's over, you will have lost a significant amount of sleep - which you need!
In the case of the Ben Sora Amora, and the Gemorrah commentator who said he was a witness - don't you need two or more to mortally convict - the parents not counting as valid witnesses?
This was one of the Sages was a witness not to convict, but he reported AFTER THE FACT in the Gemara that there had actually been a Ben Sorer uMoreh who had been executed, and he had seen his grave. We have single opinions of Sages ALL THE TIME in the Gemara. The Talmud is made up of different opinions. The problem here, as Rav Breitowitz points out, is that this was not a case of two opinions on halakhah, which happens all the time, but two opinions on the historical fact of whether there had ever been a Ben Sorer uMoreh or not.
How about THIS for an unusual insight into how to learn more Torah for your children: give them an appropriate REST or DISTRACTION from their already long day at school? That's what the SECULAR EVIDENCE shows.
Thank you!
Amazing
Toda raba! May Hashem continue to grant all His servants their portion in his kodesh Torah.
This is brilliant!
the reason for any divine intervention is that TRUE CHANGING COURSE can save A SINKING SHIP!
With proper repentance
edit - not in the Christian sense

They obviously had books of Torah at home. Then it’s just a matter of getting up, washing the hands, learning for 5 minutes, and going to sleep.

Close relatives are not halachic witnesses.
@@mweinstein1542 His SINGULAR testimony therefore, would NOT count.
So what's the discussion regarding the SUPPOSED REALITY of the Ben Sora Amora?
