At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

If we think it well, only her one wish made come true! Suleyman fell in with her so madly, he saw her everywhere he looked!
The way Hürrem treated Gulnihal is just so disgusting honestly. Hürrem doesn't apologize for what she did to her in this scene, instead she looks away and has Gulnihal cover her face then basically quietly tells her to go back to work as if nothing happened.
Plus, trusting Gulnihal again as a servant would have been foolish. What do you think would have happened had Gulnihal been a lot more vengeful and cunning?
Except after this she does apologise
It's because she realized that Maria wasn't that kind of person she still loved her very much but who would be upset if the friend slept with the husband so why she apologise no one apologised to her.....Maria was cunning as she didn't tell hurrem......HURREM ISN'T THE PROTAGONIST she was doing what she thought was right how come Mahi got away with poisoning Ottoman dynasty but hurrem got her son taken a wlaway for ruin the face of a concubine
But I liked that they punished her it made her realized that they were prejudice and she needed to be careful in order to get rid of them all
@@terrisarhoden5249 Suleiman wasn't Hürrem's husband at this time and Maria/Gulnihal could not disobey when summoned by the Sultan. Did Hürrem forget she's in a harem and not a monogamous relationship?
Mahidevran not being punished is 1000% on Suleiman, not the Valide, if Suleiman had punished her it was pretty clear the Valide would not defend her considering she had almost poisoned Suleiman too. Since Suleiman refused to punish the Mahidevran, she can't openly override his decision on the matter.
@@asurmenhandofasuryan4610 hurrem was from a Christian family so ofcourse she got possessive....any concubine would...I said husband because he was the only man who she slept with and Maria would have prolly done the same for the sultan's favor at the end it they were just victims of the time
I wonder what would have happened to Gulnihal if she had refused to go to Suleyman chamber…oh wait, she couldn’t refuse. She’s a slave. Hurrem should have a least realized her friend had little say in the matter.
She's a selfish deeply traumatised teenager. Of course she doesn't get that. Not that it makes what she did OK but I'm sick of people making the same surface level take on this without any real depth or insight.
Very true but we need to also look at the context. She was a teenager and misogyny was rampant at the time. It was easier for Hürrem to take her frustrations out on her friend who was a slave just like her rather than Suleiman who was literally the most powerful man in the world at the time.
Sultan got mad at Mahidevran when she had beaten Hurrem but Hurrem got away so easily what she did to that concubine.
😂😂😂😂Hürrem ❤❤❤
Gulnihal needed prayer most.
didn’t you all find it disgusting when ibrahim was moving closer to hurrem?
No. He was doing duty. Calm down., Karen.
Especially because you know he was so desperate to hit her to establish his "Authority" and demands, just like he attacked Nigar and threatened Hatice.
Makes me so mad..
No, coz I hate her. Didn’t you see what she did to her friend?
@@alj3449 Yeah, that was terrible and Hurrem should've been punished. However Mahidevran got away with that kind of behaviour though, multiple times in fact. How is that fair? Love how casual you are about the awful subject matter just because you don't like the character... 🥴
Y'all demonize Hurrem without taking into consideration the dirtbags who did it first and nearly always worse. But God forbid she gets even a little bit of Karma.... 🤣
@@ashscheesecakes2064i hate mahidevran, a frustrated beach
That purple!! 💜
I wonder if Hurrem was suffering from post partum syndrome. Ever since she had the baby she became insufferrable, it ofcourse does not excuse her behaviour towards Gulnihal, but the change is very noticeable watching it for the second time now. Postpartum can really mess a woman up, even give suicidal thoughts. Or she just turned a corner towards evil. Good things she got sent off towards the old palace, yes on false acusations but it made her think and gave the others some temporariely peace, it was needed. For a little while she was sort of nicer when she came back.
Hurrem is evil for that.
The dream with her mother shows that she was conflicted. There was a battle of evil and good in her.
Betraying friend was good?
Her friend slept with the sultan and never said anything she had to do what any sensibly concubine would do and take her down granted she was sloppy about it
@@Juliamarcinkowska-rk9zw and the weren't exactly friends....allies maybe but in the harem u can't have friends only allies Maria will be find hurrem did her a favor the sultan favor would've ruin her more just like it did with firuze and princess Isabella....Maria was being used by Ibrahim Mahi and valide to take down hurrem what was she supposed to do
@@terrisarhoden5249they were friends.
What I heard from her fans she never wanted to be Valide Sultan?😂
She was always after the throne. The only difference between her and Mahidevran was her obsession over the Sultán,who existed till she was an old, bitter, barren woman, who spent her life killing, torturing and disfiguring Young, innocent girls.
@@amandaferreira7587 Exactly
Ibrahim only worked for Ibrahim himself pfffftttt
