Fun fact: Cheydinhal is supposed to be a mercantile city built on a navigable river tributary to the Niben. However, in Oblivion, the river does not connect to Cheydinhal, so the city is basically just built on a big pond. Imagine the mosquitoes.
Cheydinhal is modelled after the Tudor style of architecture. I grew up in Plymouth and there are a handful of surviving buildings like this. Notably, Tanner's Restaurant.
Anvil is personally my favorite with the beautiful architecture and port town vibe, also the player home there is the best, even has its own quest. Also Bravil deserves more respect, the shantytown buildings are really fun to jump around and explore with high acrobatics and the high crime rate gives the city a nice charm
I agree with anvil being so beautiful and cozy. And yeah the player home there is the best. I even decided to make my last save there as a sort of final resting place for my first character Nah Bravil deserves all the hate it gets. The town is so boring I keep forgetting its name
I really like Bruma. The city layout just feels so wonky with the giant chapel & castle, & all the houses either positioned around the chapel or in elevated rows, but I'm partial to the wooden indoors & snow on the ground outdoors. It's a comfy combination.
In defense of the Knights of the Thorn! Canonically, we save his chapter and he tells us that the experience of going to Oblivion, the experience of loss, real combat and risk of death changed him, as well as the example of the heroism of the Champion of Cyrodiil. In the book Infernal City we learn that when Umbriel ravaged Chedinhol, the evacuation of the townspeople and the general assistance to them was organized by the then respected Knights of the Thorn. The boys have changed, starting from a low starting point.
Cheydinhal is very good, but Skingrad has gotta be #1. Best architecture, neat layout, good wine, cool inns, an awesome vampire count, that loveable crazy dude Glarthir. In the rain, it is the most cozy and feels like you're in a cool fantasy-noir city. Having Bruma that high is nuts though, Bruma is basically just Bravil but cold. They're both slums, but the layour of Bruma is worse.
I'm a Bravilcel personally. People talk shit about it because of all the skooma and woodrot but if you're the kind of guy that likes having any fun whatsoever it's really the place to be
Agreed on all points, plus something personal. I grew up in a little town called Evening Shade (Burt Reynolds made a show about the place.) I call it Evening Cheydinhal a lot. Sorta makes me feel closer to my childhood and stuff.
I always felt like Chorrol was the Whiterun of Cyrodiil, with the first quest in the main storyline taking you there, the tree in the center, and that homey feel to it (which, I suppose is subjective and could be said of any of the cities, but disregarding that, my point stands)
YESS cheydinhal is so good... those lil bridges omg! also uim pretty sure theres a loading screen that outright says that cheydinhal's architecture is a resul;t of dunmer migrating to cyrodiil. also i love borba, she's so cool. me and my brother used to spam-talk to the guy who calls u a fly... BUZZbuzz-BUZZ-BUUZ-BUUZZZbuzzz-- i feel like there's so many quests missing to cheydinhal, the whole red queen and orum gang and rivewrview... it meant that i spent so much time in this city as a kid trying to uncover its secrets, and failing... it (accidentally) made this world seem much deeper than it really was. like, there are people living their lives outside of me, the pc? i'm not the Only Important Thing? that's crazy!!! um but granted i dont think i could rank the cities of cyrodiil... i really love them all for different reasons... i love all the silly npcs.... i love oblivion.,...........
I only wish the cities were larger, to actually qualify as cities. That would require having something alike Starfield cities though, where you can see the city but only wander a specific area.
My fav city gotta be Skingrad, because of the narrow, windy streets and the buildings made of stone. Also, if you are lucky you might get kissed in the neck at night by a handsome stranger. I really liked the narration in the video and the funny jokes, you got yourself a sub!
I used to think Chedynhal or anvil would be the nicest place to settle down, like it's pretty but chedynhal having the cliff racers flyy guy and the dark brotherhood, the glarthir quest too, it felt beautiful and serene but with all these quirky people you'd get to know if you settled down there
I liked Cheydinhal, but the fairy tale element of the place was a bit too much for me with the pointy houses. If someone asked me about my favorite town I would say Skingrad! Thanks for this fun video and your perspective on Cheydinhal. EDIT: to be fair...Cheydinhal had the more memorable quests
rip arenas in the rest of the cities :( Cheydinhal is also my favorite city due to both aesthetics as well as the characters and quests you can find there. My other 3 faves, in no particular order, are Leyawiin (Mazoga + Knights of the White Stallion + Whom Gods Annoy), Skingrad (Paranoia + Whodunnit), Anvil (the haunted mansion, A Rat Problem, and the whole illegal sheep thing).
Just wait for Skyblivion to be finished. Next year they'll have the entire base game (quests & all) finished and released. It's also completely free. I *really* trust in their work. What they've shown, the size of their teams, and the attention to detail has been wild. Everyone involved is excited to completely recreate the game of Oblivion inside Skyrim's engine. It's such a crazy undertaking.
Cheydinhal's house is my favorite player house. Has the second coolest guild questline in the game as well. It's the big tiddy goth girlfriend of Oblivion's cities.
As a Morrowboomer I always thought that it was weird how the NPCs tell you that Cheydinhal is inspired by Dunmer architecture/ culture. The mongrel dogs of the Empire must have REALLY culturally colonized them.
I like all of oblivions towns compared to skyrim. They just have more unique characters and quests. Bruma is probably the most boring. It's also the most infuriating as Sean Bean has died there more times than I have every game combined.
Sorry but Leyawiin is the best and you’re just wrong and I will not elaborate or respond to any different opinions bad video the end! (I did leave a like this is actually a good video)
top 10 smoke spots in Cheydinhal
Us cyrodillians are begging pls
who up drinking they milk

I concur, lady just likes her Tudor houses.

Anvil gang
I forgot to mention the tile roofing of anvil also really stands out and helps the "Gold coast" earn its name
I really like Bruma. The city layout just feels so wonky with the giant chapel & castle, & all the houses either positioned around the chapel or in elevated rows, but I'm partial to the wooden indoors & snow on the ground outdoors. It's a comfy combination.
Anvil and Bravil always been my favorite cities 💜

Cheydinhal is supreme. The Orum gang really cuts the mustard with their new batch of Skoo-SHOES!! Their new batch of shoes!!!
There are only two things I can't stand in this world: People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dunmner 😠😠

A Micky D tweet?! You’ve earned my trust
One of my favorite small youtube channels.
I'm new and may not return, but it does seem like a gem. She doesn't try too hard, which imo is key for any truly decent channel.
Also Cheydinhal really is pretty, after thinking about where to buy a house and stumbling across the place, I knew I wanted to live there.
YES! The Whiterun of Cyrodil
I always felt like Chorrol was the Whiterun of Cyrodiil, with the first quest in the main storyline taking you there, the tree in the center, and that homey feel to it (which, I suppose is subjective and could be said of any of the cities, but disregarding that, my point stands)

i’ve BEEN saying this. cheydinhal is BEAUTIFUL
Haven't watched the video yet, but finally, someone else with the right opinion.
I love the dark brotherhood quest line in this game. My favorite quest of all time. Daddy Lucien Lachance deserved better!
New youtuber to binge unlocked
Don't forget the Orc Mafia! (They were largely cut but buzz buzz lil fly)
I only wish the cities were larger, to actually qualify as cities. That would require having something alike Starfield cities though, where you can see the city but only wander a specific area.
the "ma-gee-ka" jumpscare got me good 😱😱😱
I flipping love milk!! Strawberry ftw!!
How is Skingrad not number 1, outrageous 😤
Real
Skingrad is really cool! One of the more unique ones for sure, and has some of the best NPCs
wow, very glad I found this channel
My fav city gotta be Skingrad, because of the narrow, windy streets and the buildings made of stone. Also, if you are lucky you might get kissed in the neck at night by a handsome stranger. I really liked the narration in the video and the funny jokes, you got yourself a sub!
All my homies want to chill wit MilkDrinker28
Cheydinhal is best city. Best mage guild quest imo, Dark Brotherhood base. Dunmer and Orc town. Love it.
It has the best architecture and coziest feeling.
I used to think Chedynhal or anvil would be the nicest place to settle down, like it's pretty but chedynhal having the cliff racers flyy guy and the dark brotherhood, the glarthir quest too, it felt beautiful and serene but with all these quirky people you'd get to know if you settled down there

My favorite is Chorral because the house there is my favorite and the people are nice :)
It pleases me to see Bruma ranked so high
very Elizabethan style - half timbered housing, very pleasant town
Ah yes, a oblivion video, you summoned me
What about awesome channel i just discovered

OH FUCK, correct opinion detected - Intellectual Anvil Appreciators stay fucking winning, lets go.
Queen uploaded a new video!
A new MilkDrinker28 video is the modern day equivalent of Jesus of Nazareth delivering a new gospel
All hail the Halo Rat!
Bro come to Bravil its a beautiful city, really the BEST come and visit Bravil !
Blessed YT recommendation
I need to finally play Oblivion
Just wait for Skyblivion to be finished. Next year they'll have the entire base game (quests & all) finished and released. It's also completely free.

Cheydinhal's house is my favorite player house. Has the second coolest guild questline in the game as well. It's the big tiddy goth girlfriend of Oblivion's cities.
The houses are clearly inspired by German traditional architecture 😊 fav city in cyrodil
mageeka jumpscare
justice for bravil
yayyy, another MilkDrinker28 viddd C:
What's a Milk drinker like you doing walking around these parts?
As a Morrowboomer I always thought that it was weird how the NPCs tell you that Cheydinhal is inspired by Dunmer architecture/ culture. The mongrel dogs of the Empire must have REALLY culturally colonized them.
ive never been to cheydinhal
Young thug city gets me every time
micky d tweet is insane😭😭

im just a leyawiin freak
Anvil gang
Cheydinhal WOULD be #1... if it weren't for Skingrad.
Great video, would recommend less “meme” inserts and silly sfx. It loses all impact when it’s too much. Also, Skingrad is the best
Sorry but Leyawiin is the best and you’re just wrong and I will not elaborate or respond to any different opinions bad video the end! (I did leave a like this is actually a good video)
Bravil is the best city, clearly.
Anvil slander will not be tolerated
lol
Nah It's Skingrad.
Generic comment for the algorithm.
Love your video but aesthetically Cheydinhal is the worst to me. Not even that great of quests.
The fucking sigma character creator got me. Like n subscribe. More oblivion pls
