I tried my hand at craps a few years ago. I never truly understood the game, read a lot of books. Then I got familiar with TH-cam (duh) and found your channel. I have learned so much and can play with confidence, not that I will necessarily win, but that I won't look stupid at the table. Thanks...
Best channel for craps out there. I’ve watched plenty and your approach has them all beat. Graphics and explanations are far superior and also a much more reality based idea on craps play. Most of us don’t play for the long term. While there are better bets to “lower the house edge”, there’s also the idea of taking a little risk and having fun, enjoying the action of the game. Do you really want to bet your whole bankroll on one pass line bet with 100X odds? Of course, not. Thanks for setting up the different betting strategies in your videos. I think money management is really more important than a “one size fits all” betting strategy.
Hulen Bryant appreciate you watching and the kind words, I think you state it perfectly by saying there is not a “one size fits all” strategy. I may have to use that term :)
I went to a casino recently to try out the craps table. After watching your video just now, I fully regret not seeing it before hand. At least I'm much more prepared for next time. Your presentation is very easy to understand. Thank you, sir.
How does the dealer make room for more place bets once that tiny little rectangle is filled up, since there's only room for about three stacks of chips?
ive only played a hand full of times and have had decent luck. thanks for the videos have learned so much. I didn't realize I could turn my place bets off. ive always just had them take down. cant way to turn them off on my bad feelings. thanks for the video.
Sometimes I'll place the 6 & the 8, and the 5 as well. It's fun to make the bets, even funner when you win. Though there is a "cross" involved with the Field when we get to it. :)
Next two videos will be simple 6/8 strategies for beginners. I like the iron cross as well, I think its fun to play but I'll usually only play the field though when the 12 pays triple.
I don’t believe anywhere in usa offers place bets to lose, here we do lay bets. I know they are offered in Australia and have seen them in European online casinos
Once again, great great great. My husband gets so mad because I can't figure my odds bets on the place numbers. But I'm getting it...def not a math mind.
If you keep your place bets working on a new come out roll. Do they lose on 7 or on 2,3,12? And if so, can’t you just also bet the pass line and the field to be safe ?
Place bets working on the come out roll would lose to the 7, but not the craps numbers 2,3,12. Yes the Pass line bet could offset the place bets for that one roll.
What is the difference between a “Place Bet” and a “Come Bet”? Are there different allowed odds? And do you have to wait for a point to be established before making a “Don’t Come Bet”?
You do have to have a point established before making a don't come bet. If you have already watched my beginner video on come bets than this video might help explain difference between place and come bets but its more of an advanced video th-cam.com/video/qhY_hOFYijM/w-d-xo.html
Nope :( the minimum would be $25 on each of the numbers, and for 6 and 8, to get paid properly you would have to bet $30! Theses new higher limit pandemic tables suck...
So if the shooter makes his or her point, your place bets are "on" at the come out roll and the shooter throws a 7, i take it ALL of your place bets lose and are cleared from the table, yes? thanks.
That is correct, but by default your place bets are off for the new come out roll. You have to ask the dealer to override the default and ask that your bets be “on” or “working”
Say I I have place bets on the inside numbers (5-9) and it’s the come out roll next. I know they’re off but what if the point is one of those inside numbers? Should I take down my place bet on the point number? Or let both play out
Let's say I have a pass line bet and a place bet on 6. The point has already been set on 6 and the dice roll another 6. Is that basically a double win? I notice a lot of people dont make place bets on the point and just wondering why
It would be a double win. Most people do not place bet the same as there pass line bet because if you use that money for an odds bet behind the pass line you will get paid better. The only reason to place bet the same as your pass line, is if you have maxed out the odds allowed behind the pass line.
Well a lot of players play the pass line, so they are hoping for a 7 on come out which would cause them to lose place bets and win pass line. So they don’t bet against themselves. Players that play strictly place bets...it’s more habit/traditional than anything else because of first reason I mentioned.
My local casino has 3-4-5x odds on the pass line. It's my understanding that place bets pay more money than pass line with odds if your odds are less than 5x (total wager payout of place bet vs pass with odds). So if I can't place more than 5x odds, doesn't that mean place bets are a better bang for my buck in the short term?
Really enjoy learning how to play on your channel! A few questions: Can you make place bets before the comeout? Also, say you are betting the inside numbers (5,6,8,9) and lets say the point made is 5. What do you recommended to do with the bet that you would have had the 5 if you are not playing the pass line? Does it make sense to leave it up on the point? I also enjoy when you use 10 markers as your base bet as it is more practical and gives a good sense of money management. 5 tables are non existant where i am in the northeast.
46Chromeboy yes you can make place bets before the come out roll, but you need to tell the dealers to “turn them on” or “have them working” for the come out roll Probably no sense in covering the number twice, so I would move it to the 4 or 10, use as odds on the 5, add $1 and increase the 6/8, or just have it returned to you. Yeah, I get the $10 thing, and should do more, but I play $5 tables 95% of the time, as I am never in the northeast,
It is always better to buy the 4 and 10, but because of that, most casinos will set a higher minimum bet to buy the 4/10 such as $20-25 even on a $5 - 10 table.
I was at the casino last weekend playing at the crap table. the point was five and I place my odd 21 dollars but the dealer asked me to remove the dollar from my odd beat. every video say 5 and 9 place a dollar for true odd. if that is so, why did the dealer ask me to remove the dollar from my odds?
If you were at a $5 min table your odds could be the following: single odds= $6 : double odds=$10 : triple odds=$16 : quadruple odds = $20. You would add the dollar to the $5 odds and the $15 odds to make it an even amount. With the 5 and 9 you always want to have an even dollar amount for your odds. This is so the dealer can pay you back correctly. I like to remember it as "even odds on the odd numbers" with the only odd numbers being the 5 and 9. Check out this for more help. th-cam.com/video/oPj6Nk4qXjA/w-d-xo.html
Good Explanation! Question: Is it allowed to take back my Place Bet at any time? Example: The Point is Six and my Place Bet is on Six. The next Roll is a Six. I get paid for my Place Bet (and maybe for my the Pass Line Bet). All Place Bets are now "Off" until the next Point. But when the Place Bets are "Off", does it mean there are "inactive" and "untouchable" until there are "on" again, or can I ask the dealer to give me back my Place Bet before the new Come Out Roll?
When the puck is OFF, your place bets are not active. You are allowed to ask the dealer to return the bet to you at anytime, whether the puck is On or Off.
I'm so fricken confused. I watch one vid and the bet and payout is one way with no odds, but different with odds. i.e... 6 & 8 no odds we bet in increments of 6, but with odds the "flat" is table min (not in increments of 6) is paid 1:1 and the odds (still not increments of 6) is paid at 1.5 to one?? I'm too old to go back to math class.
I am confuse about taken odds. I was playing craps in Harrah casino and a player place 11 dollars odd (the point is 9) and I was following suite but the dealer say I don't need the extra dollar so my odd was 10 dollars . I don't understand why I wasn't allowed to place 11 dollars when another player could . Please explain . ...thanks
Not sure exactly but my guess is he was playing a "tip for the dealers" on top of his bet. As far as the odds, the point of 5 and 9 odds pays 3:2 so you always want to have an even dollar amount as your odds bet.
Thomas, I think Color Up, is correct. It sounds like the extra dollar was a bet “for the dealer”. The Odds bet isn’t a contract bet, so it can be put up or taken down at any time. Whatever the reason for that extra dollar the dealer was correct when he told you that you didn’t “need” the extra dollar. The dealers are usually really good about looking out for the players, especially if someone isn’t as familiar with the game as others. In your instance, you would get paid $15 for a $10 bet. ($3 for every $2), or $16 for an $11 bet. ($3 for every $2 on the first $10, BUT on your last $1 instead of getting $1.50 you only get a $1 because they only pay on whole dollar amounts).
Thomas Hardison on the 4/10 you really want to buy instead of place. The house edge is lower. Depends on the casino...typically it’s going to be $20 to buy the 4/10. When you buy instead of place you will get paid the true odds for winning of 2:1 instead of 9:5. There is a 5% commission to make the bet, sometimes collected when bet is made and sometimes only when you win. This varies from casino and is much better if commission is collected only if you win. The 5% will be $1 on a $20 bet. So depending on the casino (just ask) you will give $21 to make a buy bet and you will win $40 or give $20 and if you win they will pay you $40 and ask you for the $1. Sometimes you can bet as much as $39 and still only pay $1 commission, but once you get to $40 bet the 5% is going to be $2

Whats stops people from place betting on the come out roll by turning your place bets on? In essence you could just place bet and never lose.
You can and many players do turn their place bets on for the come out roll. But 7 rolls and they all lose, just the same as after come out roll
Do the lay bets pay based n the true odds scale? 0r the "place bet" scale?
Lay bets get paid the true odds, but require a 5% fee
Does the ‘field’ get paid on the come out roll ?
Yes, it’s a one roll bet and can be made at anytime.
Love your channel, do you have a video on buying the 4 & 10, no idea how that works
Does the marker have to be on in order to make a place bet?
No, but you would have to ask the dealers to override the marker by asking the dealer to have your place bets “ working”
@@ColorUp Ok that's good to know, i was worried I would have to recode a bunch of software.
I like going over the lingo you would use with the casino. Say, you want all the inside bets, what is the lingo? I like covering lingo
You tell the dealer how much money you want inside.
Can I still make a place bet if I don't have a bet on the pass or don't pass line?
Yes, line bet is only required to roll the dice. Otherwise just an optional bet.
what about the top thin slot? is it that same?
Above the box numbers is the dont or lay bet area. As far as the “thin slots” you won’t see those on most layouts.
Do buy bets keep playing if they hit like other bets and if they do, do you pay the vig every time?
If it pays it stays. A new vig would need to be payed, timing would depend if they collect vig upfront or on win only, and that varies by casino
What will yousay to the dealer if you want to bet all place numbers
Across.
Let's say I'm at a $25 minimum table. Can I still do a one unit a $6 place bet?
Nope :( the minimum would be $25 on each of the numbers, and for 6 and 8, to get paid properly you would have to bet $30! Theses new higher limit pandemic tables suck...

That is correct, but by default your place bets are off for the new come out roll. You have to ask the dealer to override the default and ask that your bets be “on” or “working”
Your Place bets are not On when the come out roll occurs unless you specifically tell the dealer to turn them on.
Question: If you ask to leave your place bets on during the come out roll will you lose on a 11 or just a 7?
You'll lose on 7
