If you are new, play next to the dealer on base and tell them so. Most dealers are more than happy to teach you the game and the different ways to play. With the “order of operations” they follow, you are either first or last getting paid/bets placed. I have seen a lot of dealers take the time and explain how everything works but it makes it so much easier being right next to the person on base. I very much appreciate a “full service” dealer.
@@ColorUp I really liked one guy at the silver legacy in Reno several years back when I started playing. I did exactly this and with every payout and bet placed by others he explained how it paid, why it paid, why they were pressing or betting like they were.
@Andy I agree with your comment. In my opinion, a dealer would rather teach someone the basics instead of having to fix repetitive mistakes. Also tipping the dealers occasionally is a good way to get them to help.
crap dealers are def friendlier because craps is the only game where the players aren't playing against them. Its all 100% on the shooter and the betting. All they do is payout and scoop up the dice. Thats it. I've seen countless craps dealers cheer and hoot and holler with everyone else at the table. NEVER have seen that at other games when you are playing against them.
I remember one of my first times in Vegas I was with a friend and neither of us were experienced craps players by any means. We knew the rules vaguely, but took the time to also learn the etiquette. We got a space at a $5 table and had cash. I reminded my friend, "Hey, want until the puck is off to buy in". The player to our right heard this and gave us a nod of respect. It ended up being quite a long roll in which the player to our right did very well. The 7 eventually came (as it always must), we bought in, and the player to our right placed horn bets for both of us as a gesture of kind will. And wouldn't you know it, it hit! I'll never forget that.
When I began playing craps, the FIRST thing I did before ever playing was to familiarize myself with table etiquette. I wish more players would do that! Another great video, Jeremy!
An unspoiled, number storming, consecutive Pass Hand is such a fleeting, fragile thing. You would think that all Right way bettors, at least, would be at pains, observing every nuance and taking every precaution to protect The Vibe, keep the good times rolling, and ensure the chain of passes and repeaters remain un-jinxed and unbroken.
It took me a several times of observing the table, observing the bets before I ever made a bet. Then, I started slow with just some pass line and odds. Now, I'm comfortable at the table, and I love it when it's a social game!
For sure, it ain't like BJ. Craps dealers move like ninjas with calculators along with ppls hands moving all over the place. First time seeing one last week and was like dam, I need to step back.
Great video. As someone who has worked in the casino industry for 30+ years, from dice dealer all the way up to Pitboss, this information is quite useful for the beginner player. As a current Craps supervisor, you have no idea how many times a night I have to explain all of these topics you explained in your video. Thank you for this Public Service Announcement!
Do you have any suggestions for Card Counters who play 21 and who vary their bets according to the card count so they can continue to play with varied bets? I don't gamble and I watch Blackjack Apprenticeship youtube channel.
Maybe ask the casinos to install a video monitor with this video on it for those beginners (like me) and you the dealer etc could just tell them to watch the video and then return for betting. It would work in the interest of the casino, dealers, players and the new players.
Great video! Two other things I stand by is 1) Don't talk to or interrupt the shooter. So if your buddy/husband/wife etc is shooting at a table don't walk up behind him if your not playing and start trying to talk to them. 2) If your hot and a die goes off the table always ask for same dice.
If you tip the dealers they'll also help you make correct bets. On SEVERAL occasions, I've had bets "accidentally" over paid by a red or two. Ironically, this always seems to happen when I've had side bets for the dealers, had them up with me when I'm stupid enough to play the hard ways or after I've tipped them following a big win. They really appreciate the tips and will be more than willing to help you out any way they can.
I thought that I was the only person who felt the $25 craps tables were the worst idea ever. The high rollers have $50 & $100 minimum tables. Craps tables for low rollers should be $10 at most. There are still plenty of bets on the table in which the casino can make major bucks off the players. Once in a blue I find a $5 craps table & I’m in heaven lol
@@andy6302 That's where bubble craps comes in (and not that lonely version where you have your own game). But yeah, $15 is fine for BJ, but ya wanna make multiple bets on a craps table so it just gets too spencey.
Agreed with the $25 tables gotta go. The bankroll needed for those tables just isnt sustainable for your average player. Luckily I found a $5 min at PH in vegas. It was the virtual table set up which I saw in almost every casino in vegas. Higher end places having $10 mins which is feasible
I have been playing craps for years now and what you said about the 25 dollar tables is true. I used to pretty much never see them unless it was a weekend or I was in Atlantic City. My Dad and I were in a place on a Tuesday night and they upped it to 25 the other week. It's madness
Must be an East coast thing. Here in Cleveland, we have 25 tables when there's a sporting event like the Browns or Cavs are doing a home game. It sucks bad but on some days I make a huge amount on those tables when the 15 dollar ones are awful. It's more 60/40 for me.
Former dice dealer. A few tips to go along here: Don’t place your money within the place bet numbers themselves. As mentioned, place in the come and state what bet you’d like. Inside the place bet numbers is a dealers work area. It’s also where losing money goes after a 7 out. It’s also where dealer tip money can go. Had a table one night where I had to keep telling players don’t throw money in the numbers. After awhile, a 7 out came. All the losing money was brought to this area. People wanted to color out and placed a stack of green ($25 chips). It eventually got put away with the rest of the chips. After several minutes they asked where their money was. I asked what money(?). It was a whole fiasco. Took them close to 45mins as surveillance had to verify when, how much etc.
I’ve been following all these rules. I would like to add some dealer etiquette I would like to see. Players, if your dealer is being lazy, move to another table. If your dealer is being rude, move to another table. If your dealer looks bored, move to another table. dealer vibe is also very important when you’re trying to catch a hot roll. I tip well all the time and expect the dealers to be courteous.
Nice vid, I played for the first time this weekend in Vegas (using your videos to learn beforehand) and when I saw the title of this video I thought “this would have been nice to know before!” But decency and common sense plus what you’ve said in your other videos covers it. As for the 25 dollar tables, I’m on board! My first round was on a 15 table and I had a pretty sweet roll, I think we all won good money, I doubled my bank roll. Later I could only find 25 tables, against my better judgement I played and lost all my winnings, thankfully it was just my winnings and I came home with what I brought. Great content, you explain things in a way I can hear it.
Agree w the 25$ table. I'm in Massachusetts and I found a $15 table yesterday and had so much fun being able to play a little bit more loose than I could if I tried the $25 table. Hit a few hard ways that I normally wouldn't bet on, and had a really good time. Otherwise all I've seen are $25 tables and they get expensive fast
was this at Encore or MGM Springfield? I haven't been to Springfield yet, but I usually go to Encore once a month and never seen a $15 craps or roulette table always $25 even at noon on a weekday
I have been everything from a dealer to casino manager. 42 years and still at it. I agree with the table minimum topic. I come in at 3am, there will be 2 or 3 people on the dice game and frequently, they have it have it $25. First thing I do every single morning when I walk into the pit is to tell them DROP IT DOWN !! Or if people are winning and there is a crowd, the box asks me for the $25 signs. NO ! Soon as you raise it, everyone colors up and you get a dead game. So annoying becawse these kids today are insulted to deal on a $10 game, and dont understand you will make more money in VOLUME of players. Thank you.
I remember one time when I was new I got to the table mid-roll and the point was six. I reached to put my money on the table as the dice were coming out and the dice hit my hand. The table gasped, and one guy was about to yell at me but the dice landed as a hard 6, then everyone cheered. One of the guys looked at me and said that never happens. Since I've been playing I can confirm I don't think I've ever seen it happen like that.
I used to play years ago at the El Cortez when the tables were 25 cents. Haven't played much since except on a cruise. Instead of tipping if I was winning I would make a "two way bet" usually on a hard way combo. This makes two people concentrate on the bet for better luck.
I'm glad you mentioned the table limits. Used to find many $10 tables just a year or two ago. Now most on the strip are $15 with $25 min very prevalent even on weekdays! They do this to make it expensive to bet odds (no house advantage) as the base bet is set too high in the beginning. E.g. 6 or 8 with $15 base is $75 odds which is crazy to start a session. On hot rolls it doesn't matter, but hot ones come once in a blue moon... Just sayin'
Lastnight was fun! First I handed wife the dice and they were like nope can't do that haha. First roll she throws them off the table. Then she heats up and we turned 60 in to 700. She gave up the dice an hour later. Best birthday ever 😅😁💯
As of two weeks ago the Atlantis casino in Reno had a five dollar table, well one end of the table was five dollars and the other end was ten dollars. Not crowded when I was there in late afternoon.
As a craps dealer, I knew exactly what these would be. Could’ve told you everyone you listed, before the video started lol. Great video as always my friend 😊
Now it clicks.. played at JACKS in Cleveland over the weekend .. was at a 15 dollar table.. everyone was having a blast ( we had to have tipped the dealers at least $1,000 over the 3 hours ) the floor manager was watching.. I tossed a 7 on 15 rolls of the dice.. he promptly switched it to $25.. everyone expect me thru a fit .. the manager said dont like leave it's the weekend.. we all colored up and vacated the casino.. I dont like the dollar amount to bet thats what stops me from going higher .. but now with your explanation of the pay out odds .. it makes sense.. 25 dollars tables feed the house not the player.
Awesome video. One tip I would add is don't be shy asking the stick person to speak up calling the numbers if you cannot hear what's been rolled. Too many here in St. Louis mumble the number, and unless you are right next to them, you don't know what's rolled.
This is one of my biggest pet peeves. The local place put partitions between rail spots, couldn't here a thing. Had to constantly keep asking what the throw was. 'Course, a bit hard of hearing anyways, and that crap certainly didn't help. The noisier the table, the better the action. Hate the mumble-tables.
I worked as a Dealer at the Golden Gate Las Vegas and when I was on stick the people that played with dice before they threw them bugged the heck out of me. I loved to say “Out Seven” on them.
Superb content , thanks Jeremy and good review for intermediate players also. off path a little ... if your the shooter and you want to set a hard ways set, as the dice are being pushed to you look for where the six and one are coming at you. set the one on the outside of one dice and six on the outside of other then roll one die (I like the one on right) to match the same number as the other. now both dice are hard ways set (hard four, hard six hard eight hard ten on axis. With practice at home once dice in hand it can be done ez in 5 seconds. also tipping dealers with two way bets or inside numbers for the dealers , pass line for the crew etc when your winning I sure have noticed they keep an eye on your play and help if you missed something. I had a 25 dollar horn high aces at the Peppermill that hit and the proper payout is 285 and still up to win. I had a field bet and was looking at payout as many others were on the field too. The stick man paid me wrong underpaid on the horn high bet but since I had been tipping here and there the boxman on the next roll called it and told the stick man he needs 285 total. in summary tip dealers and light or no alch along with knowing exactly what to expect to be paid immediately when your bets hit.
As a dice dealer ; if you just put the players across on a few numbers and let us press the bets it can go a long way especially with a good roll , we don’t expect crazy tips a few dollars can go a long way. We gotta eat too!
He is talking about tipping your dealer. Dealers don't expect players to go crazy tipping, especially if you yourself are not winning very much. But if you have a good roll, or a nice hit on a hardway or something, just toss a few white or a red chip to the dealer to put on a few numbers or on the hardways for the dealers. Dealer bets don't have to be table minimum. Most players will have the dealers bet on the things they are betting on as well, so that everyone wins at the same time, and the dealers are rooting for the same things you are. When the dealers are making money too, they will help you more, by giving you strategy advice, and making sure you don't forget to bet things. I remember a few months ago, on a local craps table here, they had a long roll going, and the dealers chose not to rotate, even tho one was due for a break when the next dealer came off break because they were making money too, and didn't want to mess up the roll.@@zackd2852
Today I put a $5 bet on the 4,5,9 & 10. $6 on the 6 & 8. It was a long roll. They made a lot of money. They pressed it at times. But they changed dealers, as they do, and the new guy took down the bet and the win when a 6 hit. I said, “are you taking the bet down”? He put the bet back.
Pretty good salient points.I wish to add these observations from being a player who loves the game.Never as the shooter hit any chips. If you encounter a cold shooter don't place any bets or bet the dark side. When you are on a good roll keep pressing.Avoid coloring up your chips as it both slows down the game and takes away your momentum. Good video and sadly for me I have not gotten to chuck the dice for a long time.
Great video Jeremy, thanks! Another interesting one is a hot shooter passing the dice. I have seen this multiple times and have had hot shooters pass to me on 3 occasions. I've had dp and 4/10 lay players verbally call for me to roll a 7 which one time put me on a 50 minute roll so no I am not superstitious on that. Problem with inadvertant hands sometimes is that the stick has no voice and does not properly announce that the dice are out.
Funny story on passing the dice. Where I'm at they have a firebet. Essentially you try and light and point each place number before a 7 out. 4-10 . I had roll for a good 20 minutes and had already hit 3 out of the 6. Well a guy at the other end of the table kept yelling at the way I was rolling the dice. So I passed the dice. The gentlemen next to me rolled for another 30 minutes or so and hit the 5 point fire for 250 to 1 payout. Of which I had $5 on. So it turned out well. The guy yelling did not have a fire bet. Think he wasn't so happy. Lol
Tipping the dealers might get you some better strategy tips for betting as well. Dealers want to help you win, so you tip better. Start off on the right foot, and the dealers watch out for you! Look for $5 tables too. If you want to learn for low-end betting and have a few drinks! When I was learning, I stood right next to the dealer on base, and just made $5 bets, had a few drinks, then started up on $10's. Dealer taught me about Odds betting, come bets, and playing 2 point Molly method.
Usually, very early morning on weekdays one will find the lowest table limits a casino offers. So grab your coffee and see if a casino offers a $5-$15 table vs the weekend when you may only find $25 or higher.
I watched this video a while ago to learn about craps thankfully! I was playing today at a $15 table at encore in Boston when a guy bought in when the puck was on and when the 7 came on the next roll, people actually started yelling at him!
Great advice about the 25 dollar crap tables. Also going back to the ATM when you have lost all your money is definitely a bad idea. The house always win. Your gambling for the fun of playing the game. Take out what your willing to lose and that's it. I've had great nights on the table and other times I've loss and went to the ATM for more money. Of course, I continued to lose. I learned many years ago to take out one amount. When that amount is gone your done gambling. As for tipping. I always tip the table. It's good Karma if you win or lose. Great advice. Thanks.
The trick to successful gambling is to set the amount you want to lose before you start; then use that amount try and get to the point where you're playing only with "house money" (i.e. your winnings ;with your original stake being put back in your pocket!) Then gambling can be the fun it is intended to be!
Good point is if it’s a busy table….just sit back and be patient and get a good feel with the etiquette and how your dealer interacts and communicates. Mainly learn from others if they upset the dealer or others around him. What did that guy do that made everyone mad or upset the dealer? Asking always helps.
Love the new felt! 🙂 I like the "x to 1" instead of the "x for 1." (Maybe that's something only a craps dealer would notice? LOL) We still haven't re-opened craps at the Billiard Club yet, but hopefully soon. COVID cases are on the rise in NH, so it might be a little bit longer.
With the amount of virtual table games popping up, I think 25 tables (or 15 on weeknights etc) are here to stay. I can see them pushing the more novice players (like myself) off the physical tables to virtual. They can still rake in the money and the newbies get some of the thrill of table games.
Virtual tables are a rip off. I played and lost. Low and behold, I go and play at a 25 dollar table and won like 2 grand in two days. The dealer there walked me through the game. Glad I spent 200 dollars there and made my money back.
Agree on the 25 tables. On East Coast and Pit Boss said no more 5 or 10 or 15 live tables only the digital ones were available at those amounts. Just maybe if we all bod together on this and boycott them they will eventually drop the limit??? Great video!
The only time I saw 15 was at Del Lago in NY on a Tuesday. Weekends everywhere us 25. They definitely are pushing the smaller bets to virtual tables. For the people that are more nervous about live table gambling, they are an entry point. I don't hate them, but I wish I could grab a 5 dollar table for the sheer thrill of it. Just wasn't the same.
Make more money? That’s interesting comment. If you just happily keep paying more, they will happily keep raising to 50, 100, whatever. you will never make enough.
As a dice dealer, late bets (especially late Field bets) piss me off the most. Usually, I can write off a late place/lay bet (even a late Field bet) as a player either being distracted, thus forgetting to make the bet before the dice are sent or having a last second hunch, but there’s a special place in Hell for consistent late Field bettors. No matter how light or heavy the action at a dice table, there’s no excuse for waiting to the last second to make a self-service bet. It’s like you’re a pedestrian waiting at a crosswalk at a red light, then, when the light turns green, decide to cross the street into on-coming traffic and act surprised when you get hit.
when dice are passed to me, I grab all five of them, and quickly toss them, while yelling "YAHTZEE!". I actually got tossed out of a small Vegas casino for this once (and yes, I was very drunk, and in my 20s).
Where I play, and this is during weekday afternoons, usually the table is a $10 one. If the table gets crowded, often it's raised to $15. That's fine, it doesn't affect the way I bet - generally I will have about $100 total in action once a point is established. Then a week ago on a Thursday afternoon the table went from $10 to $15 with 10-12 people playing, then an hour later, still with a full table it was made a $25 table - something I have NEVER seen them do on weekday afternoons. So I colored up 😉and went to get something to eat. I come back 45 minutes later and there are 3 people playing, none of whom were playing when they made it a $25 table. So out the door I went. Raising the minimum to $25 certainly didn't benefit the players OR the casino, hopefully management is smart enough to realize that.
Let’s hope so, here in Reno, they don’t seem to care, weekdays at the downtown casinos the three dealers will just stand there with no players at $25 tables …I’ve asked to lower to play, they just say nope
If you're a free odds player, you want a low minimum table, even if you're still planning to bet a lot. That way, your flat bets are lower and you can put more on free odds
@@tzadiko exactly! Very good point. Where I play the odds are 3-4-5x (used to be 10x), and I always take full odds on a $10 table, Not when it's $25 though.
My pet peeve is shooters who splash the table. There are all styles of tossing the dice, and some shooters like to throw them as high speed line drives, knocking chips all over and leaving a trail of destruction for the dealers to clean up and recreate.
Been following Color Up for a few years now. First time I am leaving a comment. Wish I knew some of this stuff when I first learned the game. However, most of it you must pick up on as you move along. Most of the casinos I loved to play in are closed or changed owners.
I suggest you always buy in during a roll. Always say seven and wear a jersey with the number 7 on it. Always set the dice showing a seven so the rest of the table can see that you just don’t give a fuck about their feelings.
Sure, you are welcome to do whatever you want. Most people prefer to have fun with others playing a game, and not purposely try and create extra drama. Gamble to have fun or make people mad in your case I guess.
@@ColorUp in my opinion getting mad at someone for daring to utter the number 7 or blaming someone for the outcome of a roll because they had the audacity to purchase chips and try to join the game is creating unnecessary drama and spoiling someone else’s fun.
@@Tltnsbwuwowsb Thanks, I agree with you that people should not get mad about "7" or other superstitions that do not effect game. It is silly of them. But on other hand I believe its silly to provoke them as well.
One tip for late bets. If the dice have gone out and you forgot a bet, pick up the money and just tell your dealer what you want. 99% of the time, they’ll book it and you’re fine. Unfortunately in the Chicago market, $25 tables have become very common.
Never yell "all bets off" while the dice are in the air. Never kiss the dealer for good luck. Never bring your own lucky dice from home. Never accuse a stranger of being a casino "cooler". Never eat chili fries at the craps table. Never rob a casinos cashiers cage with a gun made out of soap when it's raining. And finally...Never take my advice.
I always turn my bets off when: stick change, someone buys in mid point, cocktail waitress serving someone at the table, and someone is arguing a bet or payout. Those are dice killers for sure
Lots of good stuff. As a former dealer, here's my take. 1) Buy-Ins: the house would never want anyone to wait to lose their money. If you have an easy buy-in like the $300 shown, that takes 3 seconds to cut checks and send them out. I would not buy in in the middle of a heavy roll but if the action is light and you're not buying in with a wad of bills, buy in the middle of a roll and say "change only, no action". 2) 6 and 8, $6 increments, absolutely! I hated the guy who wanted a $100 6 and 8 and then ask to press them when they hit. 3) Don't criticize the players? I totally disagree. If you get a huge prop better who is holding up the game with crazy bets and not tipping the dealer, laugh away! And if players are not tipping the dealers, it's okay to mock them too!. Some other items: 4) Make your prop bets to the stick! don't whisper them to the base dealer and hope that they will relay that information to the stick, 5) Chip etiquette, you should always try and place your chips down, never throw them at your base dealer. If you are tossing your chips to a dealer, twirl them so they don't roll away, 6) Always "Color Up" if you have a lot of chips, it helps the box know how much you've won or lost and also gives you an easy opportunity to tip your dealer.
Of course casino has no issue with mid roll buy in…but respectful new players to game shouldn’t as they wouldn’t know circumstances that it could be done with minimal issue.
Ask the players there, if it's easy. It can go either way, as I have seen don't rollers get on long rolls, myself included. If you're winning that way, I'll switch. Craps is a game that will tell, if you are one that listens well.
I think most players don't like the Don't betters but in reality it makes no difference. IMO.... 99.99% of players are random shooters even though they (including myself) like to think they can slightly influence the dice. The longest known single turn was by a little old lady that was a total random shooter.
@@toddrunyon You can influence the dice, but i won't say it's easy. In fact, just because you learn how to influence the dice at home, with no money on the line, does not mean that you can do it in the casino for cash. The right team can make that easier too. Each & every time a human speaks, their thoughts are simultaneously broadcast in a much richer way than can be fit into words. No belief included, I simply remember before being taught verbal language.
I agree with everything you said with one exception. It takes 2 seconds for a dealer to change $100 (one stack of red). Most casinos don't even require the dealer to break down the stack if it is taken directly from the bank. And if it is broken down from the dealers stack a half-decent dealer can cut $100 in red checks in a snap. Basically it takes no longer than paying off a bet after the dice land to change bills.
It’s not a problem for dealers and casino don’t care, they want the money in game. The problem is the superstitious players that freak out when someone doesn’t buy in for $100, but $368 all in small bills…then the 7 rolls. The advice is to protect beginners, from jerks who will scream at player, not worried about dealer.
Sometimes, I will stand right next to the dealer and drop $1,000 cash on the table right next to the pyramid rubber and the dealer will slide two stacks of green to me. Doesn't interrupt the game at all.
Always a quiet lonely dark side player but often the shooter feels I’m against him not the house and talks shit to me, that’s when I’m all about yelling for the 7’s😂
Great video....on point with all you information there. I really hate when someone has their hands inside trying to place a bet and the dice hits them...almost always is a 7
Always play the cheapest table you can find. You can always play higher, like $25 on a $5 table, but lower limit tables give you more options to lower your bets or regress or whatever you want.
Bit of a noob on units here. At 6:12 you ask for 44 on the inside, but earlier you say to bet units of 6 for the 6-8. So shouldn't that be 42 on the inside? TIA
I play at Harrahs Cherokee NC. I've seen a substantial increase in the 25$ tables. I'll see three 25$ tables for every on 15$ table. The only 5$ table is the electric table that Harrahs experimented with before bringing it to Vagas.
@@ColorUp Agreed. The live tables require 4 dealers, where an E-table requires 1. However it does come with additional problems. Such as the dealer making a mistake when putting in the dice into the system. A mistake I've seen on more than one occasion. Problems with programming and power outage is also a problem. Problems you just don't see on a regular table.
Try going to the room in Cherokee behind the poker tables and sports book. There is a lone craps table back there that is $10 when it's open. It's a lucky table too.
so at what point of the roll can you leave a table or color up as it's called? i'm going to give craps my first shot on my cruise next month so just trying to learn good table etiquette
You can leave at anytime. If you have bets up, you can ask the dealer “take my bets down”. As far as coloring up…for that I would wait until after a shooter 7 outs.
I only play craps at Main Station Casino and only when the minimum bet is $5. It is usually when the dice table is not busy, so playing is in a relaxed atmosphere. Beginners are not too distractive. If you want excitement, play on a Saturday night, but you better know how to play so you don't hold up the game.
#12 for sure.... I would always go to Vegas with envelops for cash...one envelope for each day I was there that had the cash for that day, then I had one labeled HOME. If I got back to the hotel at the end of a day with cash it went in the HOME envelope and I'd start again the next day with that day's envelope. If that day's cash is gone, no more playing until the next day!
Usually the crap table raises the table from 10 dollars to 25 dollars at around a certain time I’ve noticed like between the time of 6:30 at the casino I go to then at around 1am they close a table and lower the table to about 5 bucks, I never go to 25 dollar tables never
from my limited experience playing craps I've found that the dealers don't mind helping you at all, almost seem excited to be doing something. But when I do play it's often at a dead table or completely dead table, because I know I don't understand the game and don't want to bother people when like 20 people are standing at the game. Every time I play I just buy-in for $100 and ask the dealer what he likes and often times we go on mini runs and I'm tipping him out and placing bets for the dealers if they like, I don't think I've really ever lost or won a lot at craps lol. But when I do play it's definitely for fun, probably the most fun gambling I have because I completely don't understand whats going on lol
Mahalo Jeremy, I'll let my wife watch this n read the comments since she threw the dice for the first time earlier this month. Now she wants to learn how to bet so I don't have to help her n hold up the game. I was getting ready for my fourth roll n set the dice to toss them n a red chip came flying over my hand n stopped by the C&E, I was at stick right one. I threw the dice straight up in the air, the stick called "no roll" n the dice came out 4 n 3. I gave the idiot a real stink eye but I did not yell at him. I took about four to five minutes to reset myself n calm down. No one told me to hurry up n throw the dice. Everyone on the table was staring at him. He wasn't on the table when I began my roll so he may have bought in during my first three tosses. That dude needs to watch this vid. RogerT
Bring back 100X odds bets! I remember in vegas, I think at the Horseshoe, they had a $0.25 min bet table with 100X odds. You could bet a quarter dollar on the pass line and back it up with $25. House edge was almost nothing!
GREAT ADVICE. GOOD JOB. BUT....AS FOR DONT BETS, IT IS MUCH EASIER TO TELL THE CROUPIER, "Down on my (whatever your dont come bet is)" and they will place a chip on that bet to stop the action on that bet until you say, "Work my (whatever your dont come bet is)". they will then remove that indicator chip and the bet is now working. IF YOU HEDGE YOUR DONT BETS WITH PLACE BETS SOME TABLES WILL EITHER NOT ALLOW IT OR STOP BEING YOUR FRIEND. ALSO THERE IS A MUCH GREATER CHANCE FOR THE CROUPIER TO SCREW UP YOU PAYOUT. Just say, "Down on my (whatever your dont come bet is)".
Dealers don’t mark don’t bets off, if you want a don’t bet off, it is returned to player. I think what you are referring to is advice to never remove a don’t bet. This is because it is disadvantage for player, so next best option is to make an equal place bet. But I would recommend first, never remove a don’t bet.
Havent been to vegas in a couple years but on my phone when playing craps i buy the 6 and 8 at $6 each, bet $5 in the field and Lay $30 on the 5. When the 5 comes up im screwed but with only 2 ways to do that i tend to do pretty well
@@ColorUp oh damn youre right i was just thinking 1-4 and 2-3 i forgot to take into account the inverses... Well still the odds of rolling a 5 with 2, 6-sided dice is only, what, 4/36 or 1/9 or 11.111% so not AS good as i thought but still pretty good lol
Jeremy, great review for me and i learned something new about put your bet on the line between come and field bets.but I have three prop bet stratagies that when i hit near the end of my bet progression tlshe dealers have a hard time figuring out the payment and it stops the game to a big haut and if the table is pretty full I get a lot of looks of displeasure.as the game is stopped to pay me.is there some suggestion you have to prevent this?
On the $25 table, In Lake Charles, Louisiana the L'Auberge casino ( there are only two casinos there) almost always only has a $25 minimum. Occasionally you might see it $15 but not very often. The other casino, the Golden Nugget usually has a $15 table but good luck on getting on it, Since there are almost no other choices to look at, it is always crowded and you have to wait until someone backs out to play.
@@ColorUp The old Isle of Capri was bought by Ceasar's (I think that I am correct) and they are building a brand new casino in Lake Charles. We will see how this effects the other two that are there now.
long as i bet but dont shoot i tend to hit HUGE, and as long as im up so are the dealers. anyone mirroring my bets tends to really like me as well. the last two weeks went super hot
Great Video - All of your video's great Nice new intro ;) Well Said - Say No to the $25 mins. High rollers need to go to the $50 plus And Most players need to demand $10 (or maybe $5) … I tell the floor that I will play with $1000 in the rail if they will have $10 min(s) - strait up. If Not; I Walk. Smaller Casinos do listen. Moreover; We show it is a good game with a lower limit, because it is more fun for/with everyone.
I hate the $25 minimum in MD! My friends and I are definitely NOT high rollers, so it is tough for us to play much craps. I would love to see a $5 or $10 table in MD!
Not likely to happen. This recession might bring some $15 tables for weekday mornings, but MD, I believe the most expensive in country. Might be all that politician money being thrown around 😉
Awesome channel, just subscribed. Although video poker will always be my #1, craps is a close second. Like you mentioned though, the $10 non electronic tables are getting harder and harder to find outside of maybe downtown Vegas. There is something about the feel of a full table, with lots of action. It's like Wall St. If you haven't already, you should consider doing a little tips and tricks video. Things that almost no one will mention, until you are actually at a live table. For example, when I place the 6 and 8 for $12 and hit, I throw a $1 chip to the dealer so he/she just gives me back a cleaner $15. :)
I live in the Chicago-area and lately our local casinos and the casinos in Indiana have implemented $25 minimum bet craps tables, I was wondering if you had any strategies to help make $100 or $200 last a long time at a $25 table for those of us that like to play the pass line with place bets or come bets. I really dislike playing at $25 tables but it's all we really have available, the comments seen at these tables are point 7 out.
I wait until the point is thrown. Then bet the old reliable 6 and 8. If the point is 6 or 8 bet on whatever your lucky number is. I like the 5. Every now and then a hard way (6 or 8 when the point is 6 or 8) for the fun of it. All the other strategies (including the Come bets) are bullshit. Don't you think there's a reason that Come bet is so huge?? The 6-8 strategy has made me a LOT of money. And I do mean a lot.
I never played at a real craps table before but after watching your videos and Casino Quest videos, i feel like a pro. The only thing i don't really understand is the odds for the box numbers like 6to5 and 3to2 or whatever.
Amen
Color Up I hate rule breaking! But I’m glad you mentioned in the rules of the table.
Awesome 👏🏻
Horn bet is a bet on 2,3,11,12 all at once.

You Respect The Game!! The Game showed u Respect in Return!!!
When I began playing craps, the FIRST thing I did before ever playing was to familiarize myself with table etiquette. I wish more players would do that! Another great video, Jeremy!
Must be your personality, some people just don’t give a rip to learn etiquette or even how to play before blowing their money
@@ColorUp I just didn't want to look like an idiot lol.
Thank you for your service at the tables 🎲🎲
Ironically, this always seems to happen when I've had side bets for the dealers, had them up with me when I'm stupid enough to play the
hard ways or after I've tipped them following a big win. They really appreciate the tips and will be more than willing to help you out any way
they can.
Agreed. $15 tables straight tick me off. It goes outside my budget I'm willing to spend.
Here in reno years ago we had the western village minimum of a dollar on pass or field. It was amazing. Sad its gone now after covid

I agree with the 25-dollar tables! when I get lucky and find a 15 table, they raise it up to 25 when the table gets crowded. terrible...
great videos
When that happens I pick up my chips and leave.
where I am the $25 tables, change the prop bets to higher minimum bets. no more $5 whirl or $2 crap check, etc
Former dice dealer. A few tips to go along here:
Don’t place your money within the place bet numbers themselves.
Your thought..I always look for cold tables especially at night..love to bet don't..??
Not a bad idea. You can ask the dealers if the table has been cold. The later it gets tables die down as people start to leave.
Thanks for feedback, at $25 tables you win quicker, but also lose quicker!
Agree w the 25$ table. I'm in Massachusetts and I found a $15 table yesterday and had so much fun being able to play a little bit more loose than I could if I tried the $25 table. Hit a few hard ways that I normally wouldn't bet on, and had a really good time. Otherwise all I've seen are $25 tables and they get expensive fast
twin river 10 dollar tables all the time.

was this at Encore or MGM Springfield?
Dude that's not even a "don't know craps" thing, that's just a common sense thing! I bet you were like oh shit in the moment haha
I used to play years ago at the El Cortez when the tables were 25 cents. Haven't played much since except on a cruise.
Instead of tipping if I was winning I would make a "two way bet" usually on a hard way combo. This makes two people concentrate on the bet for better luck.
Concentrating on a bet brings better luck? That's a new one.
There is no such thing as luck when playing craps.... only statistics.
If I was on the crew, I would prefer a line bet rather than hard ways. Better odds of paying off.
Just sayin'
That's why i like the electronic crap tables. Most start with $5 min and it's so easy to place your bets without everyone knowing what you're doing.
Intermediate player here. I really can't stand when people drop money with the puck on. It's my most detested approach to player entry.
Same. U know they just know roulette.
I want to yell stop playing with yourself.
"I'm not superstitious, I'm just a little stitious".. I missed that when I saw this video over 18 months ago. I love it!! Lol!
I don't understand this comment? Could you explain it in new players wordings? Thanks
Need the players to win to make money. If we ain’t winning gonna be hard for you to win too
Pretty good salient points.I wish to add these observations from being a player who loves the game.Never as the shooter hit any chips.
Great info. When it comes to learning most things, knowing what not to do is just as important.
#1 Rule! Never Buy In The Middle Of A Round! Seen It so many times, and burns me up.
Good stuff Jeremy. Lots of great info in this short video. Great for the newbies to craps etiquette. Don’t bet the Big 6/8 if they are on the layout.
You got that right!
Yes, great advice. So many ppl do that bet and it makes me cringe. I always try to direct them to the place bet.
I bet it when dice are on my end of the table. I play til I'm pressed to 30 then place it
I absolutely love these etiquette videos. Thanks so much!
Usually, very early morning on weekdays one will find the lowest table limits a casino offers. So grab your coffee and see if a casino offers a $5-$15 table vs the weekend when you may only find $25 or higher.
good point
I like the "x to 1" instead of the "x for 1." (Maybe that's something only a craps dealer would notice? LOL)
We still haven't re-opened craps at the Billiard Club yet, but hopefully soon.

How are the table there? Bouncy or hard?
I broke rule number two yesterday and thats why I’m here haha. Great channel!
With the amount of virtual table games popping up, I think 25 tables (or 15 on weeknights etc) are here to stay. I can see them pushing the more novice players (like myself) off the physical tables to virtual. They can still rake in the money and the newbies get some of the thrill of table games.
Yeah, I think that’s the plan. It’s a bummer, it’s not the same thrill.
They would be forced to drop limit....or they would just remove the tables 😡
The only time I saw 15 was at Del Lago in NY on a Tuesday. Weekends everywhere us 25. They definitely are pushing the smaller bets to virtual tables. For the people that are more nervous about live table gambling, they are an entry point. I don't hate them, but I wish I could grab a 5 dollar table for the sheer thrill of it. Just wasn't the same.
"This is America, make more money"
Make more money? That’s interesting comment. If you just happily keep paying more, they will happily keep raising to 50, 100, whatever. you will never make enough.

Okay Karen
Ha, funny analogy. But you know they have to wait to see how the shooter grips and tosses before they make decision on that field bet haha 🤪
when dice are passed to me, I grab all five of them, and quickly toss them, while yelling "YAHTZEE!". I actually got tossed out of a small Vegas casino for this once (and yes, I was very drunk, and in my 20s).
ROFL - I have tears running down my face
🤣
@@ColorUp have you played the Dont's in Reno, where you get paid on come-out boxcars?
@@tzadiko exactly! Very good point. Where I play the odds are 3-4-5x (used to be 10x), and I always take full odds on a $10 table, Not when it's $25 though.
@tzadiko They just Bar the 2, so it's the same house edge.
Thanks for watching, comments always welcome
@@ColorUp but in all seriousness I wouldn’t do any of the things I mentioned. But I also don’t condone getting mad at people for doing those things.

What about when the dice goes off the table
They should do more $5 tables to get newer ppl into it. I typically stick to the $10 tables as long as they have them
agreed :)
My local spot has $5 tables and it's amazing
@@TheDreadedRaider ur lucky! Wish i lived near an actual casino. My nearest one is only electronic tables. No dealers or anyone
Nooo. I'm in the business and we dont want 5.00 games.. our 10.00 game is great.people at and are lesr king at 10
$5 tables aren't very profitable because the casino still has to pay at least three dealers.
Oh man do I agree with you on the $25 and $50 tables. That’s why Las Vegas is the best craps location in all the world.
Most players buy in the middle of roll and don't make a bet I hate that
I'm a fairly new cards dealer in a local casino in the east. I don't know the first thing about craps, but this actually taught me a little lol
Thanks for your service as a dealer 😊
I always pass the roll when I play the don’ts. How do people feel if someone is rolling but aren’t betting on themselves?
When I bet the Don't, I switch to the light side when it's my turn to roll
I play what's best for me. the odds don't change because I'm rolling. After all, we are competing with the house, not each other
Ask the players there, if it's easy.
@@ColorUp the worst is people who buy in for that 100 and dont actually bet it
Sometimes, I will stand right next to the dealer and drop $1,000 cash on the table right next to the pyramid rubber and the dealer will slide two stacks of green to me. Doesn't interrupt the game at all.
Dont forget, If you figure out the secret of the Dont Pass line and start making money, dont be happy when the shooter 7 outs.
And don’t yell “7!” So that you win on the Don’t Pass Line! Very poor etiquette.
Always a quiet lonely dark side player but often the shooter feels I’m against him not the house and talks shit to me, that’s when I’m all about yelling for the 7’s😂
Another great video Jeremy. being new to craps this will help a lot.
Thank you for telling the tourists not to buy in during a roll.
Great video....on point with all you information there. I really hate when someone has their hands inside trying to place a bet and the dice hits them...almost always is a 7

This was a fabulous watch. Thanks... Peace
do you have a recommendation regarding what kind of table to play at? (i.e. 5$ table, 10$, 15$, etc.)
Always play the cheapest table you can find. You can always play higher, like $25 on a $5 table, but lower limit tables give you more options to lower your bets or regress or whatever you want.
@@ColorUp thank you!
Btw, is there a certain dress code at casinos in Las Vegas? Do men need to wear a suit, etc.?
@@lightyagami6181 Wear shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops.
Bit of a noob on units here. At 6:12 you ask for 44 on the inside, but earlier you say to bet units of 6 for the 6-8. So shouldn't that be 42 on the inside? TIA
So 44 inside would be $12 each on 6/8 ($24) and $10 each on 5/9 ($20)
I play at Harrahs Cherokee NC. I've seen a substantial increase in the 25$ tables. I'll see three 25$ tables for every on 15$ table. The only 5$ table is the electric table that Harrahs experimented with before bringing it to Vagas.
I’m thinking that might be plan, push low rollers to E-tables with no cost of labor

You can leave at anytime. If you have bets up, you can ask the dealer “take my bets down”. As far as coloring up…for that I would wait until after a shooter 7 outs.
@@ColorUp Pass line bets are locked when the puck is on. You can't taken them down until the puck goes off.

Not that I know of, I haven't checked many out
from my limited experience playing craps I've found that the dealers don't mind helping you at all, almost seem excited to be doing something.
RogerT
One thing as a new player I have been hounded on is always using only one hand while touching the dice
Bring back 100X odds bets!
I remember in vegas, I think at the Horseshoe, they had a $0.25 min bet table with 100X odds. You could bet a quarter dollar on the pass line and back it up with $25. House edge was almost nothing!
"Seven, Line Away!" Music to my ears.
"The don't to pay!"
pay the don't! lol yahoo
Great video! Hopefully new players will watch this.

There is not much you can do about that if the dealers are not experienced with your type of action.
