Love lake Jocassee. My pops was one of the surveyors who laid out the boundaries for the lake 60 years ago. It use to be a small town. There are still house and old buildings under there.
Lol...All the four wheel drives! We did that road in about 1969 in the family car. (1968 Pontiac Tempest) Before it was a wildlife preserve and TVA hadn't flooded the valley yet. Pre-"Deliverance" era! My parents are from Pickens County....
@@EverymanOverland It wasn't what I would describe as a well maintained road back in the 60's and 70's...Without Jocassee lake, no one but very local residents used those roads around there. The locals didn't travel much either...it was a different time.

@user-kz4lp3jg5v it's as safe as any other time. Due to hunting season there are roads up there that are open seasonally, and they should all be open right now. So just pay attention that your on the right path so you don't get lost, but it's pretty easy to get in and out. So long as you're aware and paying attention, you should be fine.

Ya, I have heard there are still buildings down there. Does anyone dive there? I imagine the water wouldn't be clear enough...

Ya you can still do the road in a reasonable 2wd car if you pay attention. 4wd not required for sure...
