In her prime, Judit was a perennial Top 10-20 (in the world) Super GM, with a vicious, tactical attacking style. I fully expect her to win lots of blitz games against any competitor, no matter how rusty she may be. She is light years beyond being just a "strong GM" and should be feared. No other woman in chess history has come close to what she accomplished.
Hey guys! This was just a quick clip from today's livestream, I was in the retiro park and filmed this. Hope you enjoy it even though I know it's a little hard to follow the moves. Have a great day :)
In Rapport vs Nepo about 7 moves before she was like "but bishop sacrifice on h3 and it's a forced draw"... She litterally found it "over the board" 7 moves in advance while commentating with no engine. It took her like 5 seconds... In that moment I understood She is still super GM strength. Love her!
This is actually why I love Judit as a commentator. For sure she has the engine lines available but a lot of the time she's clearly not using them when she gives an initial opinion/assessment of a position. I've seen many instances of other GM commentators suggesting moves and she immediately points out the lines/outcomes of those. Also because her first analysis of a position is without the engine, she often gives a very good explanation of which moves certain players might find and which one they might not, which is always really interesting.
Judit is currently a professional chess teacher and commentator. She was No 1 female in the world (which takes almost supernatural ability to do so) and her record against male world champions is actually, I think, better than everyone else , male or female, ever. She was and is arguably the strongest player ever not to be world champion male or female. She has a plus score against all world champions she has played against. This included Kasparov. On that basis she is the worlds best chess player. She is still stronger than super GM strength. She is was and still is at "Legend" level able to defeat current world champs (Carlsen). Kasparov is playing bullet chess still and his rating is around 2700 despite his advanced years. He ahs only lost around 100 points from his time as world champ. The same for Judit. Her rating is probably 2750. Legends do not operate like normal human beings.
Judit is one of my favourite chess lecturers. If you’ve ever seen any of her instructional videos, they’re quite insightful and easy to follow for club players.

You can tell Magnus just loves playing chess. The respect he has for former players is so obvious in situations like this. While he is stronger than those who came before him, he seems to get nostalgic playing old fashioned opening lines he watched growing up.
She may be "retired" but she is in no way rusty, the lines and moves she proposes in her commentaries (no engine help) are top notch and she could still light it up in blitz and rapid
I like the idea that the ‘real games’ go down in the park outside where the candidates officially play. Kind of like the green room in ‘The Color of Money.’

I think we cannot speculate like "if Fischer had today's AI". We are talking about the fact of being the best player in the world. The player's potential is something compeletely different. Maybe Bobby was the most talented player, but prime Magnus will beat him in prime for sure, so Magnus is better. On the other hand, I'm sure that today there are a lot of more gifted/intelligent/creative players than Magnus, but e.g. Carlsen is better in hard-working. It's statistically inevitable.
@@derekkinney2277 Bobby Ficher started to hate chess because of the computer lines and memorization. Here is the proof in this interview through Hikaru's channel: th-cam.com/video/y5my99K-eSI/w-d-xo.html
This is ridiculous. Magnus in his prime would have absolutely stomped the lights out of Polgar in seconds with no mercy. She would, in fact, literally disintegrate across the table had Magnus used 1% more of his determination. Her legacy would have been wiped from existence, never to be recollected by another soul in this corporeal dimension.
I love that they're being buds having fun! So - for some, it is probably worth knowing (part of the story) that this mate is well known, at least by people who play Taimanov in a dedicated way. Magnus was just drifting and having fun with his brain turned off - and that is entertainment value in its own right - but who better than Judit to yank his chain??
I first saw Judit playing chess in a tournament in Brussels when she was only six years old. She played a friend of mine who couldn’t quite believe how good she already was!! I should just add that at that tournament her eldest sister crushed me:))
One of the great blessings of this era is Grand Master Chess being encouraged among the masses because of Internet and laughter and friendship. This kind of play rarely if ever took place in the 20th century among all the chess masters.
Hungarian Judit Polgar, the strongest female chess player of all time, was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 3, 2022
It's incredible how Stockfish just calmly plays 15…Bc6 and gives it +0.43, defending the d7 mating square, instead of Carlsen's Rc8. Actually you can play pretty much ANY move that doesn't trap your queen (doesn't block the c8 square).
Is Judit the GOAT? Well, here she is, playing a WINNING game of chess against the highest rated player in history AND holding a conversation with the audience at the same time! She's got my vote.
Magnus is arguably the GOAT. Judit is the one making a big feat by defeating him. Among women though Judit is definitely goat and that's not really arguable lol
Everyone in the park are just chilling, and having some fun. It's nice that Magnus is playing against such strong players as the legendary Judit Polgar while waiting for the NATO conference.

Thank you for uploading this awesome clip! Judith Polgar the strongest female player ever, peak in 2005 at 2735 rating number 8 in the world. She is awesome!!!
Part of what Magnus so great, is that he doesn’t take anything too seriously. He doesn’t play for blood, he just plays, and says whatever. He is a champion that is not afraid to try different openings too, and take chances.

@@derekkinney2277 Bobby Ficher started to hate chess because of the computer lines and memorization. Here is the proof in this interview through Hikaru's channel: th-cam.com/video/y5my99K-eSI/w-d-xo.html
Wow! The greatest man and woman chess players of all time playing blitz with each other!!!
Judit still has it, and Magnus is a true gentlemen, having fun in the park. Great match!
He's taking a page out of Naka playbook

I have an indirect link with you Julian. I have beaten a player Steve Chivers . Who beat you long long ago when you were around 2200
This will become one of the most viewed chess games in TH-cam . 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Judit is great!! She's the type of person who I would really look forward to seeing at a holiday party or family gathering.
She speaks how she plays. Mind you ;)
A memorable day for chess enthusiasts to see this live.
Judith, with 12 women's world champ. a true phenomenon.
winning the women's world championship means nothing. They are all terrible. Her being the first woman to reach the top 10 is far more impressive

One of the great blessings of this era is Grand Master Chess being encouraged among the masses because of Internet and laughter and friendship. This kind of play rarely if ever took place in the 20th century among all the chess masters.
the queen against the king
nice
Man, she was always so impressive player! Nice educational attacking games! I respect her so much!
¡Que grande Judit!! Me alegro mucho de haberla conocido en persona
Hungarian Judit Polgar, the strongest female chess player of all time, was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 3, 2022
Polgar had a rating in the 2700s and was #8 at one point. She’s literally a former Super GM.
Met Judith long time ago in Jakarta in an tournament when she was so young
It's incredible how Stockfish just calmly plays 15…Bc6 and gives it +0.43, defending the d7 mating square, instead of Carlsen's Rc8. Actually you can play pretty much ANY move that doesn't trap your queen (doesn't block the c8 square).
80% in chess is psychology.. Judit knows that.
I love the little jolt on her face at 1:52 when she sees that he blundered. It took her not even 2 seconds to see it.
Judit Polgár is still one of the best chess players in the world.
1:57 i like how in this moment in time, only Anish in the crowd knew how screwed Magnus was
What an honor that must have been for Magnus.
This
When he started to make his next move she should have pulled a Mr Shaibel "child...when you lose your queen like that you resign"
El otro que dice: Oh My God!! es Anish Giri, que lindo ver a estos tres monstruos del ajedrez en un clima relajado divirtiéndose como niños!!!
That reaction from both of them is priceless
Magnus the absolute gentleman will never be forgotten
Muchas gracias Anna por traer esta partida. ❤
Quelle joie de vous voir jouer pour le plaisir en plein air tout en décontraction une très belle partie d'échec !♥️♥️♥️
Magnus seems to be such a nice guy! And Polgar so humble. What a truly magnificent combination!
1:55 is the best part!
Magnus' immediate reaction is priceless!
Happy to look 2 legends playing informally.
Lucha de titanes en el ajedrez . Aunque sea un aficionado valoro este encuentro Rey y Reina 🌹❤️👏👏👏👍♟️la sonrisa lo dice todo una gran amistad entre campeones .
What would have been really cool would have been walking into a park and seeing Judit Polar and Magnus Carlsen playing a piano duet together.
They played some more good matches against each other on youtube going 10 years back.... I learned that she became the youngest ever GM and beat 11 respected world champions during her career.
"lack of experience" was a great jibe from the peanut gallery! hahaha such good fun
Confirmed by Magnus 'lack of experience in the Scillian' terrific fun game.
That was Anish Giri in case you haven't realized :)
goat vs goat
Distraction is a big part of any game and to have it work is a blessing, Sometimes you really need to slow down and take a closer look. awesome match!
Thank you for uploading this awesome clip! Judith Polgar the strongest female player ever, peak in 2005 at 2735 rating number 8 in the world. She is awesome!!!
Judit and Magnus. Two of the best chess players ever having a great time playing a fun game. Judit Polgar FTW!
Legends. Love this so much!
Ohhhhhh ❤️
Yea no shit Beth
Her way of playing is hypnotical
Part of what Magnus so great, is that he doesn’t take anything too seriously. He doesn’t play for blood, he just plays, and says whatever. He is a champion that is not afraid to try different openings too, and take chances.
Cool video. Nice to see these two legends enjoy a friendly game.
