That's really cool Jake. Thank you to the anonymous subscriber that donated the money. It's a dream come true, and we'll deserved. You been thought a lot lately and it's good to see good things happening to good people. This channel is really underrated.
I know how much those things cost because I have looked up similar packs before so holy crap that was a generous donator! Whoever you are if you're watching this video thank you for giving him that money because this install is going to be highly educational and really fun to watch. Jake I really like the music that you chose for the two montages that you have in this short video. The first one reminds me of the video game galaga X and the second one reminds me of a not so well known video game now from way back by the name of test drive six. Keep up the good work! I am very excited for some in site content.
I used to play Test Drive 5 on my PS1 as a kid! I don't think I've ever heard anyone else mention the franchise before. That industrial rock/techno soundtrack will forever be ingrained in my brain though.
Nice setup. I'm not sure how much I am privileged to say, but I was the Quality Engineer over our IPU production line. Those assemblies were pretty straight forward. The CRV hybrid, not nearly as simple from an assembly standpoint.
Oh YES! More Insight content, with Lithium!!! I have a 2004 Insight red MT with air conditioning. The high voltage battery is bypassed and the car is slow but I still get over 50 mpg which is just perfect for work commuting. I will watch all these Insight episodes. Yay! 😄 Also, Mudder is a saint and genius for his work!
That is always fun to watch, and even more fun to do. That has been a continuous project over the last 32 years and nearly 400,000 miles in my 1990 Volvo.
HUGE thank you to the anonymous subscriber! Seeing Jake this excited must a reward by itself. I am incredibly grateful to get to see it as well. I couldn't wait to see someone do this mod, so again, thank you.
Dude, Long time Viewer, first-time commenter, great Project, and It makes me so happy your subs support you so much to make this possible for you! Cheers Dude!
Charging profile seems as though it would be quite different between NiMH & Li(whatever variant). what to do about proper challenging and Cell Management?
Good times man, looking forward to the rest of the project. I did have a thought for that extra 12s pack, maybe do a separate project and build and electric bike or electrify an old go cart.
Wow, really cool that somebody pitched in for these. We will all enjoy the proceeds, and couldn't have happened to a nicer TH-camr. Also I'm pretty sure Hitachi hasn't made those particular massagers in years... All just clones now.
This is an interesting project, Jake. Twice now you have said it doesn't make financial sense to spend so much on a car that old. My daily driver is a 1990 Volvo 240DL wagon with just about 400,000 miles on it. $2,400 to make an upgrade like this is easily justified on two fronts. First, if you were buying a new car, the taxes and fees, from which you, the buyer, derives no benefit, would be more money. The second way of looking at it is that it is way less money that a year's worth of car payments, so again, money ahead. The third way, and second front, is the environmental benefits of keeping an old car on the road. You would need to drive that car 80 years or more, at 12,000 miles per year, before what comes out of the tail pipe equals the amount of pollution produced during the building of the car. On top of that, you are postponing indefinitely the pollution produced and energy consumed in dismantling and recycling the car at the end of its service life. Drive on!
The amount of money you will save on gas, absolutely makes the money you put into it, worth it. Enthusiasts will value the upgrade, when you eventually sell the car
some quick factoids about the danger of dc current. yes, dc current causes muscles to contract so if you grab a hot lead... ouch. i live in nyc. the subway is 600 volts dc. so beware the third rail. they put lumber above the third rail to protect people working on the tracks in case they fall on it. they all wear seriously insulated boots. there is a cool scene in 1974 movie, "the taking of pelham 1,2,3 " where robert shaw of "jaws" fame touches his cane to the third rail to commit suicide. the weird thing is that i see rats down on the tracks all the time and they never get zapped.
Would like to know about the car that your friend has for sale. In two or three weeks I would be able to drive up there and get the car and come back home. I have to work but I can get some time off
If we want to make electric cars work…we need to have one battery that fits ALL cars so it can be swapped out! This is the only way that it can work at this point and time!
I would really like to buy a car with the lithium battery pack already installed I am not a nerd but I wish I was. And I have a car 2000 Honda insight just don’t know nothing about electronics
The fact that a sub sent you the funds for this project is “Shocking” ! Good on him or her .

I can feel Jake vibrating with excitement through the TV screen. Please, Jake, don't break my TV, but also good luck!
Yes THANK YOU to the anonymous viewer! Your contributing to Jake on all of our behalves!
Wow, you deserve this gift, you’ve earned it!
Great to see someone actually dig deep for this generous gesture, deep respect for real!
Whomever that viewer is... they are an absolute legend. What an amazing act of generosity!
Can't wait to see the outcome. This is the future of hybrid/electric car modding

I don't know about you but high voltage electricity give me ball-shriveling uneasiness. Exciting content, Jake. Really going to enjoy this series.

Wow! Three videos this week. So glad. I like your content no matter the subject matter.
Mudder had been a rockstar for years in the Insight community.
I was not familiar until his LiBCM thread which I’ve been following since the beginning. I was insanely stoked when it went to open beta
Been waiting for this. Let me know when you're ready to do my Insights.
Wow. Not surprised, you're one of my favorite "small" TH-camrs, glad others feel the same way.
Definitely update the channel for the future revision of the 4th pack.
I enjoy this type of content. Taking something old and making it better with newer tech.

Yesss, hybrid upgrades 🤘🏽 all hail da nerds 🤘🏽🔥 I like the Honda insight!
I just saw your comment on Tavarish's youtube! I totally love this idea and cant wait to see more stuff!!!!
Oh man I've wanted SOMEONE to do this video. I've wanted to do this to my GS450h that has a troubled hybrid battery. Appreciate this vid!
look at Jake posting a bunch of new videos.... love them and your humor
This is awesome Jake, congrats. Looking forward to the outcome.
Missed opportunity for Wylie Coyote being shocked in the video. GL with the project and TY to the donor of the pack. Very generous.
Dude, Long time Viewer, first-time commenter, great Project, and It makes me so happy your subs support you so much to make this possible for you! Cheers Dude!
Bless that Person who sent you funds for this , now you can even attempt chip tuning the car with the new and improved battery
Big time respect for the donor!!
Very cool. Excited to see the project!
Thanks to the person that made this happen. The insight videos may not be as popular but they are my favorite
This is going to be an awesome upgrade to your Insight, looking forward to more videos, 👍 keep them coming.
You should do his first and then have more of the practice out of the way to get yours done. Looking forward to watching this upgrade.
Seriously impressive project Jake
Wow Nice upgrade
Charging profile seems as though it would be quite different between NiMH & Li(whatever variant). what to do about proper challenging and Cell Management?
The LiBCM kit is a battery management board that handles all of that
This is the most exciting project I've seen on your channel yet....well the offroad Fiesta was pretty cool too.
Cool project and awesome viewer!
That's the happiest I've seen you in a vid in a long time. Get your nerd on freaky bro!
Hell of a secret admirer there haha.

That's My Bet haha
Hope you will enjoy it when completed
I sure hope you get more viewers…so you can keep doing this….I love your channel! Thank you to the viewer who sent you money!
Very excited for this. I hope it ups your subs too. It should! 😊👍👍
Really great video man. Very interesting
Excellent Video!!
That is crazy. Crazy good.
Good times man, looking forward to the rest of the project. I did have a thought for that extra 12s pack, maybe do a separate project and build and electric bike or electrify an old go cart.
I bought 4 18 cell packs to make an audio battery and it works very well lol
On time notice from screw tube.
music attribution for the timelapse would be nice
hope the range is better as well
cool! that voltage hack works much better with lithium.. "everything is better with lithium"
That’s interesting! I’m doing a custom build lifepo4 swap into my 2012 Camry hybrid
Wow, really cool that somebody pitched in for these. We will all enjoy the proceeds, and couldn't have happened to a nicer TH-camr.

This is going to be a cool series.
I like the EDM you used during the tear down, what is it and where can I get it?
Instrumental version of Where Do You Hide by NIGHTCAP.

This Is Awesome
Is there much weight difference between the Nicads and the lithium packs ?
I'd have to look up the exact numbers but I think the completed lithium pack is 12lbs lighter.
@@100PercentJake so about 4kg I thought it would have been more ok thanks great video by the way and more vids on your Ute pleaser
The amount of money you will save on gas, absolutely makes the money you put into it, worth it. Enthusiasts will value the upgrade, when you eventually sell the car
Argh, been catching up on Insight video and saw your latest video before the Linsight ones. I hope you find a new car soon.
Frustratingly they never sold the Gen3 Insight over here so finding donor packs is hard but I'll get there.
It's fair to say you and others like you are at the genesis of hybrid and electric car modding at this point!
I'm just a consumer. The credit goes to the people developing the products I'm featuring!
@@100PercentJake yeah that's true of course but fair play for doing the project, it's as daunting as fitting efi back in the 50s at home I guess!
I have been looking for a first gen Honda insight that is a manual
Excellent vid
why is it not a bolt on replacement. why you have to tear it apart.?
hoping this video helps me out with ours so it can be 3 here XD
I love you Jake!!

Ohh I want to do this to my GS 450h
Maybe I missed it but what was the new pack out of ??
2020 Honda Insight
Have you heard of that wonderful invention called a table
I'm 100% a fan
wooow! Nice job, anon! This will be fun to watch. please don't shock yourself... too many times. At least get it on camera if you do.
someone needs to do this with a gen 2
I would like information about Jay’s car.
Would like to know about the car that your friend has for sale. In two or three weeks I would be able to drive up there and get the car and come back home. I have to work but I can get some time off
This will be interesting to follow along with. Tip of the 🧢 to the anonymous donor.
HyDRIDE
Fleet update soon?
Made by Hitachi..they make good massagers one would say there magic.... 🤭 Absolute gold 👌👌
Glad I’m not the only one that picked up on that. 😂
What’s the name of Jays dealership thank you
Came from John Ross
Could the anonymous viewer be Hoovie or Tavarish?
A funny one would be if it's Ed from vinwicky but Tyler is more likely.
