Both the Redmi Note 5 Pro as well as the Redmi Mi A1 sport Full HD displays although the Redmi Note 6 Pro has a bigger 5.99 inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 636 chip inside while the Mi A1 has a Snapdragon 625 chip underneath.
The Mi A1 has a 12+12 MP dual rear camera while the Redmi Note 5 pro has a 12+5 MP combo. The front camera on the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a whopping 20 MP.

Mi A1 user here and totally happy with it as I have the selfie potrait with GC Mod and I don't care too much about 18:9 display and the battery life on Mi A1 gets me through a day easily and design wise I prefer mi A1 up of redmi note 5 pro.
Khalid Yaseen yeah for me too.. Charge quickly & have usb 3.0 too.. 1 drawback of note 5 pro is i doesn't have USB 3.0..charge point.. And with earphones like senheiser cx street 180..You will definitely love the audio quality... Which lacks by the note 5 pro..

Snapdragon 625 or 636 or even battery doesnt make difference to me as i always have charger nearby and i dont play games at all..
But music is my priority so again mi a1 wins..
Harsh Prajapati I own MiA1. I was just concerned as "others" were claiming complete win of rn5 pro in every department. Glad to see that's not the case.
Arpit Kabra same.. i also own mi a1.. and people have exaggerated oreo update thing for mi a1.. only problem with me was sometimes they dont show me miss call notification but thats software problem in their phone app.. restore it back to factory app and it works fine.. no problem with oreo at all..
Plus I am always concerned with Xiaomi giving updates.. especially after rn4 issues in past few months.. phone just got worse.. after only 1 year with os update.. hence Xiaomi's hardware and google's software is best possible combination for me..

Obviously phones coming aftet few months are definitely gonna be better.. but thats also gonna happen to rn5pro when moto g6 will come

Aditya Sinha I prefer simple, just like Android makers, Google, made it to be. And I prefer getting Android P in few months compared to getting almost 2 YEAR OLD ANDROID 7 on brand new phone.
Aditya Sinha I absolutely agree. I am just having huge dilemma. I want stock android because I don't particularly like MIUI although it has some nice features. But SD636 is more powerful and battery is larger on Note.

Hey Man... Just wanted to leave a quick UX comment about this video... The phones you are comparing are very similar in looks and it was hard to keep following commentary about specific phones when both phones were shown on screen. Sometimes you show the MiA1 on left with the RN5P on right while other times vice versa. Consistency of this orientation would have helped.

Those two phones aren't much different from each other, so getting either of the two would be a good deal in my opinion. They are mid-range phones. Having said that, you would prefer one over the other depending on your daily use and your life style.
1) I for example am a gamer at heart and consume more media than I create. So I would go for the Mi A1, because the operating system is more stable (I expect less or no crashes when I play a graphic intense mobile game for several hours), much better maintained OS with regular updates, and Oreo features. Stock Android makes the Mi A1 a very stable and snappy device for consumption. Also, you won't encounter any software restrictions on Stock Android, whereas some apps or services may not support MIUI. That's a trivial point, because such services and apps are very few, but nevertheless.
2) On the other hand, I am recently interested in creating more content rather than consuming. Taking and posting photos several times a day on Instagram (being a foodie, pics of good food and nice places), using Facebook and Twitter more often and share pics and videos there; Then the 20MP front facing camera with a flash on the Note5Pro is an attractive selling point for me. To be honest, the front facing camera is the ONLY thing that makes me consider the Note5Pro, nothing else. Not the slightly faster processor, not the slightly bigger screen, or RAM, or Battery. The difference is not that big. As I said earlier, both phones are in the same category. You might just get a slight edge in specific areas, be it creation or consumption.
Both phones DON'T have fast charging no matter what the spec sheet says, and both phones can't compete with flagship devices that are hundreds of dollars more expensive and more optimized hardware. Look at the Google Pixel2/Pixel2XL for example. MUCH better camera (also has a wide angle lens rather than those useless zoom lenses on mid-range devices), MUCH better build quality, MUCH better performance, and charges from 0% to 100% in like 1h or something crazy like that - 30% in 15min. Now that's fast charging.
With the MiA1 and Note5Pro we're just splitting hairs in the mid-range spectrum. It doesn't matter too much. If you ask me, the stock android phone is the better purchase, but if you want to focus on one specific feature that you'll use every day - like the 20MP FFC for selfies - it might sway you in that direction, and it would make sense to go for that unit. It's really up to you. And just on the side, the Note5Pro isn't available in Europe and the US, so if you want it, you'll have to import it.
Ash please compare it with Honor 7X or even 9 Lite !! I know 5 Pro wins but I wanna see by how much margin.

*#Ash* wanted to know that is the samples of your camera comparison are real (unedited)because other Tech youtubers have shown redmi note 5 Pro is much better camera compared to MI A1 in terms of camera dynamic range portrait mode exposure and I think the MI A1 in rear facing camera is much superior than the redmi note 5 Pro as other youtubers have been Biased towards their review (product) and it's good to know that you seems to show what actual to your viewers and subscribers. 👏👏

Mi A1 is a beast in itself..the snapdragon 625 is a bit old but still capable of handling almost everything heavy, the back cameras are excellent too nd 16:9 panel doesn't bother me too much so mi a1 is the pick for me
