2:37 Hey Dave, took your courses and watched your videos and landed a bartender job three summers ago with no experience behind the bar. All your advice, tips and teaching helped me to pick up quickly and I just love it. Plan to do it eve more after I retire in a few years from my full time job. Thanks again for everything! Just one more thing to mention: I was 57 years old when I landed the bartending gig! Never too late to start!
Three years ago I went to bartender school and watched your videos before my first interview. I landed a job 2 days out of school. Thank you for what you do. ❤
I also tell my students that little or no experience can be good if your coachable. Not having bad habits or attitudes from burn out can be the path to the bar for an eager person. 🥂
I love this course! Even after getting turned down for bartending at the restaurant I was serving at, I followed the course and just got hired for a up and coming bar in a busy downtown area! With absolutely no bar experience. His course is the real deal.
I finally got the “craft bartender” position in the #1 recommended elevated restaurant in my state. With no experience ahaha if I can do it anybody can ! I have chronic anxiety and for whatever reason this was the best job for me.
I just got hired as a bartender at a casino. yesterday was my first day I was so lost 😞 so many rules to follow don’t over pour and just remembering all the different drinks. So I’m definitely interested in your training course. They just threw me out to the wolves 😩
Hey David, I’ve been a bartender for about half a year and I just left my shift. I had such a horrible night tonight. Possibly one of my worst. It was pretty busy, but my mind was everywhere. Making drinks wrong and forgetting orders etc.. I instantly left work and went to TH-cam to find some comfort or some creators to shine some light on the situation and how to do better literally tomorrow. I honestly felt horrible and like I let my whole team down tonight. When I went to TH-cam I couldn’t find anyone who spread some light and positivity and tips on how to do better. Think you could try to?
This is one of my favorite channels, I wish it shared it to my suggested for me because I’m subscribed and never see advertisements for new posts. This guy keeps it real and inspires!
My name is Natalia and it's super rare, and that was my situation (Hired with little experience not knowing the drink recipes), so it totally freaked me out lol when youb talked about Ms. Cruz's story! Thank you for the wisdom Dave! People love how shy, but bold I am! You have helped tremendously.
Super appreciative of your videos! Gonna get your course and put in extra work. Been barbacking for less than a month and the managers have already started training me to bartend. Thanks again 🤙🏽
I'm so happy I ran across this video. I thought you needed to go to bartending school to become a bartender. It's nice to know that it is a choice because it saves me $500 lol!! But I have been studying my cocktails and definelty buying a course and giving it my best shot,!! Ive always been good at making drinks and multitasking so im excited for the new chapter.!!! Thank you
Hey Dave. I thank you for all your videos. I’ve been watching you for over a year now and it’s helped me become a better leader for my bar team. It gave me a great perspective on the standard that one must follow to create a great experience
Damn I got lucky, I was asked to bartend at the busiest bar in my area by the owner and it took me 2 months to say yes… I had no idea of the opportunity but I do now lol
I'm incapable of memorising without physical practice but have worked low volume hotel bars for a while. I guess I'll just apply and have some cheat sheets on me😋
Anything on Amazon is good. There are plenty of tool kits that have all the basics you need and you don't need to spend a lot of money. I just saw one on there for $21 that had 4.8 stars. Grab one of those and you'll be good to go. Best of luck. Cheers.
In any industry it’s always better to learn on the job- been in restaurant business for 20 years and have seen a few people waste 40-50k on culinary school and they still couldn’t cook for shit lol
Hi Dave! I'm Adrian I sent an email about this question but just in case I wanna make sure it gets through! I want to pursue bartending and I recently got my TABC but I fear I won't be able to land a bartending job because I'm a senior in highschool. is it still possible to pursue this now? I just enjoy the idea if being behind the counter and serving and providing for the people who walk to that bar.
Hi Adrian, I replied to your email. Here is the blog post I mentioned about bartending licenses and age requirements by state for bartending: therealbarman.com/do-you-need-a-bartending-license/
What's up Mr Dave , I have a question lingering in my mind about your course. Will I be able to get my hands on a bartender's certificate through it as well or will that be another thing entirely?
Hey Plot, as far as certification goes, I don't provide a certificate because they are basically worthless. Bartending schools try to make certification seem important, but hiring managers could care less if you have a certificate or not. It's nothing more than someone created in a Word document on the computer. Anyone could make it, so they are worth nothing. With that said, if you follow the plan and don't quit, you are guaranteed to land the job and become a bartender. Best of luck to you. Cheers.
Hi there i am taking bartender class in my country nepal . And its have been 3 weeks . Is flair technique is necessary and important to become bartender cause i fell difficult to learn . I am learning bartender because i am planning for working in Europe. What you say ?
No, you do not need to learn flair bartending. I would say that 1 out of 100 bars has someone working there that knows how to do flair. It's a nice entertainment tool to have in your arsenal, but 99% of bartenders (at least here in the U.S.) have nothing to do with flair.
