Skateboard at 8:33! haha Fantastic video, man. I work at two different bars in Austin and your tutorials have helped me out more than any others online. The little tricks for remembering cocktails have my coworkers run up to me during busy shifts asking things like, "What's in a stone sour?" or "What the hell is a Rob Roy??" and 99% of the time I have the answer. Thanks for watching out for the rest of us with real world bartending knowledge!
Hey Jason, would you ever consider making a video talking about the pros and cons of working at particular types of bars? (e.g. a bar/restaurant location, a restaurant/club location, an only bar location, or hotel bar, etc.) As an aside, I've been a long-time viewer of your videos and they have benefitted me GREATLY. I am a student in Florida and used information I learned from your videos (in addition to an initial barback job) to become a full-time bartender at a Hilton Garden Inn. The importance of your videos in my development as a bartender cannot be overstated. Thanks for doing what you do!
Sorry the super lag reply and revival of an old comment but I appreciate it... i wish i had more time to answer everyone, and your situation is why I grind away at this channel.
I had a job at a bar for 9 months, before I realized I kinda hate it. I know it wasn't the bars' fault, since I tried 2 very different ones. But still, it was an experience worth making. So thank you for preparing me with some basic knowledge. Even tho I quit, this video was pretty interesting.
+Adrian Moment, I feel you...this industry can be very challenging for a variety of reasons, and it's definitely not for everyone. I applaud your foresight and having the courage to get out if it sucked!
How much $$$ is needed to start a bar? Behind the counter equipment, furniture, stock of liquor, cash for wages.. not counting liquor license cost and rent.
thought you fell off the planet? hah. loved the vid. is there Any way you could do a video showing you actually working at the bar serving people? like what and how you do things? I'm trying to get into bartending and would like to see how people actually do it from their perpestive?
+pballa321123 Thanks for the idea, however let me say, it would be MUCH easier to point you to any type of bar or establishment you're interested in and tell you to go in, sit down, have a beer or two and observe. Do this for every variety of bar you're interested in. Not to poo poo your idea, but that would be more beneficial for you, or anyone else because you'll also be able to feel the energy of it all. Besides, I've already tried, and my bar is too dark, footage isn't that great. If you pay close attention, you can see a couple of the clips in the channel trailer.
Love your concise delivery of information, do you have any videos about how to make sweet and sour mix and simple syrup? Also on the liquor/liquid to ice ratio for frozen drinks...
I learned alot from your channel when I first started bartending but it kills me that you put your bar mats backwards :( Do you need to know you have Avion or does the customer?
Hope you find this question and answer it asap. I'm a beginner in Bar tendering. I don't wish to get into a course for making drinks, but I've done an RSA. Could I learn about the drinks by a trainee period when I find myself my first job?

On an average day how long does this set up normally take you? The bar I work at has a similar layout and routine, just trying to gauge the time difference.
Aside from the numerous Board of Health violations....the worst thing I saw was, putting ALL of your bar mats backwards. Are you trying to promote to the customer or yourself? That shit drives me crazy!

Thank you! It was just what I was looking for.
Super helpful. Who is it that keeps track of the actual inventory of alcohol etc and orders it?
Generally the bar manager, but depends on the establishment, sometimes it's us!
I learned alot from your channel when I first started bartending but it kills me that you put your bar mats backwards :( Do you need to know you have Avion or does the customer?
Haha, that's a weird thing to obsess about. I like it!
Love this video💞 planning to put up a bistro

How do you make enough ice for around 15 people at home. Buying ice is really expensive in Germany
Gracias, thanks so useful information
As some one who line cleans, I wish bartenders would clean their work space.
I've seen some really gross stuff and lines
😷😷😷😷
Thanks a lot man !
Jason you still at the Mexican restaurant in SoCal?
Yes!
Why you put the Ice First?
Which restaurant is this
What's took you so long?
Thanks
I’m the main trainer at my bar and I just learned that this video made me basically obsolete 7 years ago
POV = genius. Let’s it sink in better.
Mind: what am I supposed to be doing rn?
POV video: THIS
😂
for anyone who is integrated tips and tops both are supposed to be good for 3 years
Just as well you have so many rubber mats to cover the dreadful counter top!
Thank you. :)
I didn't know about knocking the ice down
7:07 "cat-chup" lol
actually the original spelling for Ketchip is Catsup
you leave your soda gun in your ice bath that has ice that goes in people's drinks? BAAAAaaadddd!
On an average day how long does this set up normally take you? The bar I work at has a similar layout and routine, just trying to gauge the time difference.
About 1 hour for opening duties is pretty standard.
