I recall one of my hort teachers saying that Pandorea pandorana changed colour depending on its distribution; and that it wasn’t simply a climatic change but a regional one, within the same species. He indicated that while, for example, Pandorea in the Blue Mountains was light in colour, as you headed toward Coffs Harbour, the colours began to darken.
I note that Clarence is originally a man from the North Coast, and so his comment here that Pandorea is usually a darker colour than the specimen on the show may perhaps reflect that. (Sorry if there are any false assumptions on my part.)
