  • With three kids and four alpacas, Orange locals Erica and Bruce have a front yard that gets a lot of use...but in its current state, it’s definitely not up to the job! Jason’s helping the family of five transform their unloved front yard into a gorgeous garden full of native and exotic plants, which is just perfect for the kids to play in - and for Erica and Bruce to relax!

A few of the plants in the order they planted them included Woolly Bush, kangaroo paw, Crowea and Westringia, along with some red grass, bottlebrush and Leucodendron which is a South African cousin. There are heaps more good native plants for these conditions, I'd suggest that books are still the best resource.

I spotted Woolly Bush and Kangaroo Paw and it's good that there is variation in the heights of the plants. Looks good!

Looks great, but as per other comments, would love a run down on the plants used, either in the comments or on the video, or a specific video on native drought & sun tolerant plants

Looks like it'll grow into a nice garden. I loved the rusty tin idea I was actually going to use that idea for my bar that I'm soon to bulid at home. I've had the slabs of wood for the bar tops for almost a year and still haven't gotten around to it lol .

I really Jason's ideas, my only suggestion is to add the plant used in the description.

I've been searching for the brown Eco Weedmat that Jason used here. Can't find... Has anyone used/found it? TIA

Bunnings sell it. Unfortunately i think that 'eco' weedmat is made from PLA plastic, which does come from vegetables but doesn't compost in anything less than industrial conditions (>55 degrees celcius). Stick to the good old cardboard I think!
