The problem at my us foods is they’ve chopped our times horribly. I used to love this job to the point other drivers thought I was nuts. Now I’m getting stops where I have to do 130 cases in 57 mins, 99 cases in 32 mins, I had one yesterday 82 cases gave me 19 mins. There’s no rules for routing. If they can’t get that route under 14 hrs they just change times. I work at a domicile doing 14-19 stops 700-800 cases ON A PUP. I’ll never leave because the pay is good and benefits are even better but this crap is getting old.

I went from working 45hrs a week to 58hrs this week. 1,700 cases and 13 stops with mixed in pallet drop. I spent 5.5hrs at my first stop (pallet drop) sorting out and rebuilding pallets. (I normally spend 2hrs)… that was a 16hr day. I’ll enjoy my paycheck but I rather have energy and work/life balance. The service time was shortened. Maybe they’re raising their standards from 120 UCPMH. We’ll see how next week goes!
Much respect to you guys. I worked for PFG for about 3 months and quit because I found a dedicated home 4 times a week reefer job and took it. I remember when I was getting trained my trainer showed me his yearly pay. None of them were under 100,000. (TX) These guys make bank. Honestly deserve 150k minimum. I’m trying to get my experience so I can go into tanker since that’s my ultimate goal

Man I can’t complain at all. Travel guys can make over 150K 🤯. Stay safe and get that experience and the best part is you know where you want to be 👊🏾
Drivers tend to quit because the job is extremely physical, the company, job, and management is very strict, stressful, and demanding. The schedule for a new driver is unknown. You might be on call and never know what day your working, what yard, what start time until late the night before. There are too many surprises and always difficult daily work situations arise.
People definitely quit because the work can be hard and sometimes stressful. When you can walk in off the street from making 35k and jump to over 100k and you quit the first week that should tell you enough about the work 😂 its not for everybody. I like it because my night flys by.
@@touchfreighttrucking with that much of an income bump I figured people would stay! I did lol. But I get it. Many guys have expressed how intense it was. I’m reminded of how tough this job is when I work while I’m sick. 🤧 I feel like my whole life is flying by so fast 😂
@@kickbackkris392 we got a few guys in their 50’s that are absolute beasts, they would run circles around most younger guys. Both been doing this 15 years plus. Not even sure how thats possible.
@@kickbackkris392 it can be rough sometimes. Im sitting at a hotel right now waiting on my reset so i can go home. They added an extra stop tomorrow night 35k 1200 cases……….i love fridays lol good thing is ill sleep well.

I just applied to two openings in Houston. One for US Foods and one for Gordon Food Service. I truly think its a great opportunity. I want to do fuel hauling ultimately. But I did furniture and moving before i got my CDL. Ramps and boxes are no big deal. Im excited to go back to getting some work in. I cant stand holding the steering wheel all day. But the company im at does treat me well.
@@bentabar4544 I trained one guy who moved furniture with a CDL. In his opinion, furniture was hard and heavy! But foodservice was lightweight, harder on the body, and faster pace. They’re two different challenging beats for sure! I hope you land a job offer dude! I don’t like driving all day and love being home every day, so the schedule is perfect for me. Depending on the day, I drive 30min-1hr to a city and deliver to 3-5 stops within 15min apart. We spend more time unloading than driving 😎
Most drivers should do touch freight and stop be lazy wanting to do drop and hook. I deliver for cvs driving around nyc best cdl job i ever had. Remember a body in motion is alive and body not moving is a dead body. Get out that truck!!!
Bro it wasn’t the physical labor part at all. The warehouse sucks at least when I was at Sysco. The trucks were rarely loaded correctly, the pallets not zoned correctly and the routing was off sometimes and sometimes the trucks were loaded late so it made me late for every stop then I had to deal with the customers because I was late 😂😂😂 it got to be too much so I left. I miss it though not going to lie
@@norrrlife that’s rough! We don’t have that bad here. I’ve trained guys who came from sysco and they said the same thing. We got it easier as far as load quality goes. Still.. all the sysco drivers I’ve trained either quit or got fired 😂

Did Dollar General for a lil bit and I’m here to tell you it ain’t easy. Those rolltainers you usually see on end caps or in the aisles of the stores sometimes weigh as much as 500 pounds and every store has 9-15 of them along with overflow stuff that goes on u-boats. For me, pay wasn’t even close to enough considering how much they overwork you. I feel that most of these touch freight jobs all don’t pay enough considering the toll you put on your body and the heavy workload they expect you to do on a daily basis.
I meant to say Dollar Tree. They use a metal conveyor belt to slide cases down the trailer. I did work for Werner on the Dollar General account for 6 months as my first CDL job. I know exactly how heavy those Rolltainers were! Especially when they’re cramped side by side! Pushing and pulling on an uphill parking lot sheeesh. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I only left because it was regional/home weekends. If they had a home daily route, I would’ve definitely stayed. The pay was great considering I jumped from $38K annually to $75K+ with DG. Foodservice and touch freight truckers deserve top dollar for sure. We need to stack up for surgery 😂

I’m active and moving around. Surprisingly I’m not diabetic and don’t have any health issue other than being overweight. 🍻 for better health and wealth

It’s either built sloppy which eventually tips over or it’s still mixed with other stops because I have too many cases that day. Either way you gotta appreciate the good trailer loads when you get it 👊🏾

I quit Sysco cuz my start time was 4 am. I’d show up and my load wouldn’t be ready till 7 am everyday.
We had it rough like that during 2021-2023 😂 There’s been some huge improvement and now my load is at most late 30mins twice a week.
but they pay hourly so you're still getting paid
