- रूस के एथलीट टोक्यो ओलंपिक से साल 2004 के बाद से सर्वाधिक पदक लेकर अपने देश लौट रहे हैं. हालांकि, इस साल ओलंपिक में रूस की टीम, झंडा और राष्ट्रगान सभी प्रतिबंधित थे. रूस के एथलीट इस साल रूसी ओलंपिक समिति (आरओसी) के नाम से टोक्यो ओलंपिक खेलों में हिस्सा लिए. डोपिंग स्कैंडल की वजह से रूस के ओलंपिक में हिस्सा लेने पर प्रतिबंध था.
