Female fronted metal bands don't get enough reactions. And I don't mean like Jinjer's Pisces which was requested on every reaction channel for the only purpose of seeing the reactor's face when Tatiana changed vocal styles. There are a lot of frontwomen who do gutterals, but that particular song was criminally overused for that 2 second reaction rather than a reaction to the song as a whole. A couple of my favourites are SynlakrosS - Dark Seed and Spoil Engine - R!ot. And more In This Moment.
I just subbed at the 5:25 mark, and I can already see we're pretty similar...at least when it comes to this band. A lot of people think that they're a "newer" group, but they've been around a bit. I first got into em a few years ago when they were doing what I call the "college circuit." Anyway, I dig em a lot and I've been a Metal fan since the late seventies (I'm almost fifty-five). They definitely get the most "plays" as far as newer bands go. They've got real talent and are on the cusp of really blowing up if whoever is doing their marketing makes the right moves. They just came out with some "covers," which just as a matter of personal principal, I abhor. That said, In This Moment has been around long enough that they've earned the right among their peers to do so. The Queen cover is ok...In The Air Tonight is head and shoulders above that one...but, Fly Like An Eagle is first ballot, Hall of Fame NASTY. To take that Steve Miller tune, and give it a Metal flavor, and still work is badass. This band is supremely talented...Brink is the REAL deal...a Shield Maiden of Metal as I like to say. If I HAD to have any criticism at all, it'd be that some guitar solos need to be incorporated into their material. But, I can say that about all of the newer bands. Music in general has lost a bit of it's instrumental "flavor" and needs it back. Band's not having to tour anymore to support their new material has a lot to do with it I think, and that's a direct result of the internet. Not saying the internet is a bad thing...far from it. But, it HAS hurt touring, and band's not having 20-30 thousand fans booing them every other night because they're music is trash doesn't exactly push artists to better themselves at their craft as maybe it would have twenty years ago. But, keep the reactions coming, because I've hopped on and am gonna ride with ya a while.
Hi Mana. I didn't like that it took so long to get cranking, buy other than that it was a good tune. My 2020 concert lineup thus far is Tool (Tuesday!), Killswitch Engage in March, and Jinjer in May. Looks like it's going to be another good year for metal. I hope it will be a good year for you as well.
