I disagree with you 100% on your perception of music. Music isn't about making you a better person, it's about making you feel things, share things, think, yes, maybe, but if a song makes you wanna throw things through your room or insult the entire world, that doesn't make it a bad song. You say music is here to teach us things, and if it doesn't, we're wasting our time. I once again disagree, music can be silly, empty, just a good beat and not much more and still be really good. Overthinking music isn't always a good thing, sometime it just break the spell and the magic of it all.

I understand what you mean and I agree on some points, like lyrics that are not tolerant or violent toward some persons, but bad words or explicit content doesn't make bad music. You can take a song like Closer by Nine Inch Nails, which is very explicit, and it's still a very good song.

A Person Do you believe that certain music can influence someone to go shoot up a place? Do you believe a song could influence someone to commit suicide? If you liked an instrumental, would you dislike the song just because the lyrics were nothing special?

It helps me through hard times too and makes me feel less alone and it inspires me to make art to vent out the negative feelings inside of me. Thus i love how nice people in emo bands are. A lot of albums from emo bands saved me in dark points of my life.

I feel that dude. In my third semester of college after a summer alone working all the time about two weeks into classes I listened to the whole Black Parade album and had a good cry on the drive up to school and realized I had really been emotionally repressing myself because I was working so hard and not talking to anyone meaningfully. Like it let out a lot of emotion that had been pent up to where I felt like was going to snap. It was a good experience. I don’t think it necessarily made me a better person but it certainly made me feel better.

My favorite song by them is Nearly Witches. The production is incredibly fun and the beginning of the song is so cool. I also like When the Day Met the Night. It may seem like a fun uplifting song only but it's actually a tragedy and I feel like symbolism for people who can't be together. Because it says that the Sun promised the Moon that he would stay with her forever, but the sun and Moon are only together in the sky in the summer. Once it ends they are always apart.

    7. LA Devotee - I personally think this is a very well made song. Not only is it catchy, but the lyrics are actually twisted to be an anti-LA song. The idea of this song is more fleshed out in Dying in LA but this song makes it much more subtle and interesting all in a fast pace banger. The video fits what the lyrics truly mean.
    6. Nails For Breakfast, Tacks For Snacks - I think the imagery in this song is absolutely fantastic. Just the prechorus kinda describes some fear in hospital areas. The choppy vocal effects kinda emphasizes the title and adds some emotion to the song. The emotion in the bridge is also quite intense. The deep underlying meaning on Ryan’s father in alcohol and his experiences in a hospital is very interesting.
    5. Northern Downpour - A kinda simple song musically, but man the lyrics. The imagery in this song is very rich on how the world is. Pretty much what you explained here. Also, it’s a quite soothing song.
    4. This is Gospel - A really powerful song with emotion and meaning. A song about addiction and put in a really interesting spin. There’s not really much I can say about this that hasn’t already been said.
    3. There’s A Good Reason These Tables... - Man, you’ve gotta analyze this song. It’s twisted into a story of murder just from the title! The imagery and the music is just Panic’s theatrics at its prime. The line “cigarettes are laced with nitroglycerin” implies that the character is planning the death of the woman depending on the number of her table. The line says that he’s the next cancer because he simply will be the death of her...literally. Oh, and it’s a banger
    2. Camisado - This is actually my favorite Panic at the Disco song. It’s the second most personal song outside of Nails for breakfast and man it’s such a freaking banger outside of it. It’s like one of those songs that are very sad but sound so upbeat. Similar to Nails, the song is about alcoholism and the strange experiences that happen in the hospital. It’s very vivid and well written all fit into a synthesized fast paced piece of work. While its my favorite, I don’t think it’s their best song.
    1. Build God, Then We’ll Talk - The masterpiece of lyrical depth. While the story is quite exclusive and not personal, it’s just very well told. The story about the prostitute and the lawyer and the buildings. It’s impressive on how inspired that can by just looking at run down motels. Anyways, the composition and the vocals also compliment the amazing imagery lyrics as well as the interesting song structure. Panic’s most underrated magnum opus (and it isn’t even my favorite from them).
HM - I constantly thank god for Esteban, the ballad of Mona Lisa, Far too young to die, King of the clouds
(Great video btw. I agree and disagree with some picks here.)

I feel like vices and virtues is such an underrated album. The whole album tells such stories, and personally, that's what I love about songs. Memories?? "When July became December their affection fought the cold but they couldn't quite remember what inspired them to go" it's so good. Personally, my favorite song from Panic! ever is the Calendar. There's something about the composition and the lyrics 100/10.

A song that has made me a better person would be forest by twenty one pilots. The song talks (for me) about a group of people who are a little messed up and they're all looking for something or someone, and even tho they might not find it, ever, they are able to find it among themselves even when they don't realize it, so they stay together to keep looking for it. I feel like I'm a really antisocial person, but whenever I listen to this song, I kinda find the courage to open myself up and try to not focus on myself, but in my friends and help them and with their lives or whatever they need, and then I can pull myself out of the hole I am, and maybe pull them out too

A song that's made me a better person is Migraine by Twenty One Pilots because it helps me realize that in some of the worst times in life there's always something in the future to be hopeful about that will push those bad times to the side . The line that makes me bring this up is "And I will say that we should take a moment and hold it
And keep it frozen and know that life has a hopeful undertone". I find this line very powerful.

The lyrics are so well constructed, there aren't a ton, so each one helps move the story along, the subtle word choices make such a difference. I might have to disagree with you in almost all the video. You cannot be objective by telling what makes you a better person. First of all what makes a person a better person? Some would say: following a religion, respecting the laws, growing spiritually, maybe doing a PhD, having kids, maybe all of this. The construct of "a better person" is a comparison respect who? What's the static of this comparison? So, "a better person" is construct just as subjective -because it relays on so many basis like your culture, education, legality of your country, economics, philosophy, among a lot others- as choosing someone's favorite song because of their music taste.
After this introduction, you can say a song is well crafted maybe musically, or is well produced or well written, but that does not necessarily make it better than others. There are master pieces with little production, for instance.
Now, Pray for the wicked is a fantastic album, this is the first time a P!ATD has a lyrical consistence about the subjects talked about -some would say pretty. odd. is just as well, but pretty. odd. is not a concept album and it does not try to, and I think Pray is-. All the lyrics talk about overcoming. Talk about work things out. About triumphing.
Lastly, my favorite P!ATD 7 songs list would be:
    7. Collar Full (I was surprised you mentioned it as one of their worst, honestly)

i feel like cavetown's music has somehow made me a better person or at least is pushing me towards that
it just tends to calm me down, i guess.
I'm a really angry, anxious and upset person, and i never let it out at the right times
but it just helps me manifest a lot of my frustration and let it out positively
it helps me understand how I see myself as i really relate to it
examples that tend to calm me down are candle, dysphoric, talk to me, hug all your friends, just add water, pigeon, and now that i think about it, most of Robin's music.
even his covers tend to soothe me more than the original songs
my favorite song is devil town, and it's like a comfort food to me

It's really interesting to watch your videos from a very lyrical perspective, because I look at music from a very... music-based perspective. I always say that lyrics make me respect an artist, but it's the music that makes me love a song. For me, a good song is one that makes me stop and concentrate on what's happening musically. I play a lot of instruments, and a good song will have me unconsciously tapping out piano notes or fingering bass lines as I listen. A good song is one that makes me inspired enough to try to learn to play it-- and in that sense, I suppose it makes me a better person, too.

I feel like a song can make you a better person if the lyrics give you a different perspective of what life can be and what you can do to not only better yourself, but to better others.
A song that has done that for me is guns for hands by twenty one pilots. It's the perfect example of "hey, I know your struggles. I have them too. But together, we can overcome this." This song gave me hope that I'm not alone. And ever since I first heard it, I've been trying to live my days to the fullest.

*Guns for hands* made me a better person. I started to listen to twenty one pilots thanks to this song.
When I first heard it I couldn't believe that someone actually sings about this stuff. That someone understands me. And someone wants to stand by my side.
Thanks to that I discovered the band. I started to help myself, to cut the lines with bad people and made new lines with good people. I started to think about god, to read about god. I started to read about religions, about psychology, about mental problems and how to handle them. I started to read about how to talk with people. And I started to talk with them. With good people. Yup. They actually exist.
I had so many problems. And I still have but generally after all this years I don't think about myself as someone bad who should not exist but as someone who is alive and has the power and courage to help other people.
Now I want to be a better person. I am a better person. And I actually want to do good things even when they are hard to achieve.

It's where I always go when I feel myself sliding, and it helps set me back on track. My faith is so much stronger because of that song - rather than relying on my ability to ignore things, I now know how to take fears and insecurities to God and be honest about them. It taught me how to be still and let Him in rather than just fighting myself all the time. I swear, that song has given me so much, I can't even put it into words

My favorite song and the song that means the most to me is “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. While I don’t really listen to a lot of their music, that song just struck a chord with me. It talks about those first feelings of love, feeling overwhelmed by it and that thy didn’t seem to know the world before knowing them. But instead continuing on and on about how wonderful their love is together, that last line of that last verse....man...
“I’d rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery.”
This person would rather try and work their differences and conflicts in future times than just try again and hope for a lucky draw of that perfect person.
And I know the ending of the song with him awkwardly holding the note from “me” for a little too long throws some people off, but I think it just shows the genuine awkwardness of relationships.
Overall, not just love, this song showed me that you won’t just have a lucky draw in life, but sometimes you will work to find and get what you want in life and that’s perfectly okay.

The song that made me a better person was, Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. (Overplayed early 2000’s song I know 😂) I heard it when I was a kid and was enthralled with the idea that someone could “write their own story” or deliberately craft the life and future that they wanted. That has always stuck with me. Especially at times when I’ve felt bogged down by life, or hopeless. I always remember her singing about opening up the dirty window and letting the sunshine in. It reminds me that I have a choice, and I can change my life if I am unsatisfied with it.

The song that made me better as a person is...Unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield. It was the first song I remember hearing on the radio and actually feeling the need to break out of my introverted shell, not be afraid of being an individual of uniqueness.
...I'm also sad She Had The World wasn't even close to making the bracket. It's my favorite Panic! song ever. Despite it being the description of Ryan Ross's relationship status at the time, the lyrics "spun the stars on her fingernails" and "when I look in her eyes, I just see the sky" have always put a great picture/interpretation in my head. The instrumentals were very elegant and royal sounding which, in my head, boasted the visual of the girl who had the world to seem petty more trivial with her beauty or standards. It's just beautifully bittersweet.

The Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) is one of my absolute favorite songs, especially with the lyric "Things have changed for me, and that's okay." Your life continually progresses as the days go on, and many things are bound to alter in your own character. We need to embrace these changes by telling ourselves that it's okay to move ahead in life. It's okay to put things behind us and look toward improving our own character.

personally i think a song with happy but chill giving music, like high hopes, with a good story is a really good song. ive never come across a song that ever made me a "better person". You shouldnt pay so much attention to the lyrics but enjoy the music, let it give you a rush of emetion and in some cases if the song is strong enough a feelin like your going to start floating up in euphoria. some songs/tunes make a lot of people see a story in their heads that theyve never thought of before. e.g. Monody

This isn't lyric-related, but my favorite part of "Mad as Rabbits" is how they get to the chorus a *different* way every time. The first time they just go straight into it, the second time the "save the calendar business" line comes out of nowhere, and the third time you get the "reinvent love" refrain which comes back at the end.

Behind The Sea is my fav song of all time! I love the way the song makes me feel; it's so calming, peaceful, relaxing. The lyrics and the arrangements are beautiful & flawless. As Ryan stated, Behind The Sea are supposed to make you forget about what's real and enjoy the moment and yeah, it is.

This is an amazing video that taught me a lot about my song listening choices! Also, a song that changed me and made me a better person is both Praying by Kesha because it helped me learn forgiveness when I was having a completely awful time with someone who really hurt me; as well as well as Voldemort by With Confidence because it has really helped me be in a better spot as well as help others to get there. Voldemort is a really good song that is less talked about thar deserves a listen by the way. Anyways, I've probably lost you great video and bye!
