I feel like Pop was invented by a guy who used to be a band vocalist that just secretly hates their guitarist for doing too much unnecessary guitar solos, like "It's not all about you."
Actually, older pop was fucking great, and had many great solos by great guitarists. Look some of it up, you won't be disappointed. Like that guy, name's.. Steve Lukather? Is in some band now for over 4 decades now called.. uhhmm.. Tuk Tuk? Nah. Oh right! Toto! Might've heard of these guys somewhere too!
More like today's pop producers , back then pop song was not all about the singers , even michael jackson often got a greatest guitarist to play in his songs
Because anyone can do this. There’s thousands if not millions of technically skilled guitarist, just like there are of every other musician. He has skill sure, but it’s boring stuff, doesn’t sound original or special. Look at Jason Richardson for example, heeelllllaaa skilled but super boring. There’s guitarist who don’t really shred but they have a personal sound, a passionate sound, like Javier Reyes.
Víctor Manuel Serna anyone, really? Maybe anyone that starts practicing now 8 hours a day for at least a year. Sure pal, let’s find a thousand of them just by the corner willing to acomplish all of that.
Enrique Flores Bendezú do you play man? It does not take 8 hours a day for a year to achieve that. If you’re playing for 8 hours a day, you could probably reach that level in 2, maybe 3 months.
These are awesome. I'm old enough to remember when solos on pop tunes were a real thing. Hard to better Eddie's solo from Beat It. It was not long after that that it was seen as cliché. And radio formats required shorter tracks and something had to give. But occasionally I still get asked to play solos on pop records by producers. One that never got released was an 8-bar solo I did on a Justin Bieber/Taylor Swift track years ago.
He’s really good, but I which the solos were more diverse. Same scales, a lot of same effects and runs. I wish he would’ve vibed with some of those tracks more. Like give me some hanging blues notes, give me some old school shred and give me some math/prog style. That aside. You’re definitely very talented
Maroon 5 do have the style to carry solos in their catalog, but the thing is that their stuff are music industry's property so they have to abide by them rules so there ya go...
this video didn't blow up simply for the fact that no solos have any memorable parts, although the note choice and technique is really cool, nothing sticks with you.
MoraesMusician No it‘s because he played so many solos. They are all well shaped around the main melodys of the Song. If you can‘t differentiate this from random fast doodeling you should train you ear. This guy is fucking balling
@@Jp-ps8fr He is amazing, however Moraes was right with SOME of the solo's. You were right with most of them, especially the Old time road one and the Havana solo.
This guy has an amazing ear for music to create these solos. Playing random notes of a scale is easy no matter how fast it is played. Playing each note to match a particular tune is skill.
Every modern song should include a guitar solo to inspire today’s youth into picking up the beautiful instrument just like Van Halen did during the 80s
Rice Crispeee I’m saying that most top 40 “musicians” are more interested in instagram followers than making the music industry a more talented place. John Mayer is about the only musician doing exactly what you’ve said. As an actual musician it’s not really surprising though:

The Rockstar solo makes sense considering Post Malone was originally in a metalcore band. And that Shape Of You solo’s nice too.
I think post malone is a big metal fan, considering he collaborated with Ozzy Osbourne, plays some guitar solos, and has Dimebag tattood on his finger
@@jarovanduren5641 th-cam.com/video/f7eaGcIyhPU/w-d-xo.html
Jaro van Duren he stuck to the wrong genre. I think he only went with rap bc it’s what’s popular rn
The little smile he has on his face the entire time is pure passion
They would totally work, but you have to play them!
If these versions were on Spotify, they would be I my playlist. These lead guitar versions sound WAY better to me. Wicked playing bro
1000% true!
„what if rap songs had guitar solos“ think that one would be sick
U Got it Bad has an awesome guitar solo. Though I don’t thing it’s gonna qualify as a rap song. You should check it out tho. It’s by Usher.
You’d be the beasty boys lol
But I get your point
Jesse Collins yeah dude beastie boys were great, I wish more people would still make hip-hop like they did
Pursuit of happiness by Kid Cudi
3:52 damn that Havana solo was incredible - sounds so much like Santana to me
It kinda sounds something from Spain.
That was pure Santana lol.
Lol, I went straight to the comments to see if I wasn't the only one
The chord progression of this song is what Santana made his name on
Edit the video title Sir - ‘ POP songs must have a guitar solos’
Yah that should be the tittle
idk if he changed it since but it currently says ‘What if pop songs had guitar solos?’
@Anonymous X i don't think so sr
2:19 sickest harmonic I have ever heard.
Bro, why is this highly underrated? This should deserve millions and millions of views!
Omg yasss
@@julianeska7445 it will. Just wait
and trending too!
Nope
The idea is good, but the solos are somewhat bland to my ears
Impressive shreds dude! And imho it's OK to play less notes sometimes and do simple melodies in between those 16ths:)
Errbody got they style my man
This was the comment i was looking for
I agree.
If Havana had a guitar solo/riff by Carlos Santana alike his song ' Smooth' ...
Someone did this on TH-cam
@@Amjadd13 oh can you let us know if you remember which video it was?
Nandita Satish I'm not OP but I found this th-cam.com/video/lhwXGpr1F5s/w-d-xo.html
@@nanditasatish2297 video called havana vs smooth mashup
Solo sounds pretty natural on it
These would be perfect for live concerts
I feel like Pop was invented by a guy who used to be a band vocalist that just secretly hates their guitarist for doing too much unnecessary guitar solos, like "It's not all about you."
But everyone knows which one is better
@@adhirajkaushik6550 depends on different opinions and tastes.
Nah, I'd say it was most likely a drummer. Sometimes the only good thing about a pop song is the beat
More like today's pop producers , back then pop song was not all about the singers , even michael jackson often got a greatest guitarist to play in his songs
this dude should be on tour with one of these big acts. HOW has he not been scooped up yet!?!
"JASON MARS, HIRE HIM!!!"
Yeah, caps was needed.
Too many notes lol
Dudes this guy has got to have some of the BEST phrasing i've heard in a minute.
Guthrie
3:50 absolute best. Also style of playing fits good I think
Am I the only one impressed with the ending part of Old Town Road, it really sounded like a horse's neigh
I think old town road should have had an accoustic guitar solo with a western feel to it.
Or a slide/steel solo.
@@martyscovers2022 yes that would have fit very well too
Bro! That Old Town Road solo was sick! 😍
He’s really good, but I which the solos were more diverse. Same scales, a lot of same effects and runs. I wish he would’ve vibed with some of those tracks more. Like give me some hanging blues notes, give me some old school shred and give me some math/prog style. That aside. You’re definitely very talented
I agree with you 100 percent
Tha camilla cabello solo was pretty good tbh
Same scales because all pop song are the same
@Feel-!T Música y Covers era chiste
Agree let the song breathe!
Crazy must have million subs!
Are plainly overly used fa'st notes gives you goosebumps? No? So are the majority of his viewers. Yes? Perhaps you also like Justin Bieber.
KaKaDu YT how did you manage to be an elitist with such a simple comment, like actually how is that possible
@@jacoblbarton okay okay I wont do it again, stop crying
So basically what if pop songs sounded like they did back in the 80s? Yeah I'm down.
Like the first two and a couple throughout had that vibe, but I don’t want the loud synth back. 😂
@@Mallenaudrix Ah c'mon ..it worked for The Cars.
@00 00 Absolutely ,one of my all time favorites.
Rebirth of New Wave
Sugar should had guitar solo, James Valentine seems a really good guitarist but limited by Maroon 5's style
Maroon 5 do have the style to carry solos in their catalog, but the thing is that their stuff are music industry's property so they have to abide by them rules so there ya go...
@@onerandombruh Agreed! i liked old Maroon 5 style , "Songs about Jane" has greatest songs with solos, Sweetest Goodbye is a example.
This video is gonna a blow up... wait for it
Still waiting
this video didn't blow up simply for the fact that no solos have any memorable parts, although the note choice and technique is really cool, nothing sticks with you.
Yea it's gettin there now
They should actually start adding solo’s to pop songs they sound EPIC!!!
Michael Jackson used to know what's good
This deserves to be in everyone recommendations.
It’s been in mine for days. I just watched this and I’m willing to bet that this’ll be in everyone’s recommend in a few years lol
Rice Crispeee this assumes that modern “musicians” give a toss about anything other than money or themselves...
Adam Thow so what you’re saying is that modern “musicians” don’t care about about talent, just money?
*coughs john mayer
Rice Crispeee I’m saying that most top 40 “musicians” are more interested in instagram followers than making the music industry a more talented place.
John Mayer is about the only musician doing exactly what you’ve said. As an actual musician it’s not really surprising though:
Adam Thow it’s sad that today’s music industry only does it for the money and revenue and doesn’t show talent
So is this where all the frustrated guitarists gather to cry?
I guess huhuhu
if all songs sound the same... better keep it without solos
@@jvergarag well said with a shite guitar solo all the songs still sound shite
You’re playing style is a mix of Plini, Polyphia, Owane, and Intervals. It sounds fucking amazing. I guarantee at least 2 or 3 of those artists are huge influences for this guy.
He's a kind of Djentlemen
