If Bad Boys 3 and Bumblebee prove anything, it’s that to make a good Michael Bay movie, just remove Michael Bay. Can’t wait for Armageddon 2 directed by Ben Affleck!
F. N. Lorter bumblebee was trash tho ? And tbh all of the Michael bay transformers films were all better than bumblebee plus Bad Boys 1&2 are legendary and 3 was amazing too and also had a Michael bay feel to it so I don’t agree with what you’re saying
uh no, BB 1&2 were both the reason why there's even a 3 to consider. you must not have liked the first two at all then. Michael Bay is good at what he does, but, when you put him on projects you better know what he does, otherwise you'll be disappointed.
That was the original plan but the producers wouldn't commit to part 4. They wanted to see if part 3 made money first which it did & we should get a 4.
Bad Boys for Life was a blast from start to finish because it did everything I wanna see in a sequel. 1. Give the audience something new 2. Identify what worked before and expand 3. Change the stakes 4. Play with expectations 5. Add new memorable characters
The movie jumps back forth between being serious and being goofy, usually without warning. That being said, the movie was for the most part mildly entertaining.
It was really good. But I liked Bad Boys 2 more. There were literally so many memorable scenes in that movie that made me laugh out loud. This movie didn’t really have any funny moments that stuck out to me. And I missed the Cuban cops
I absolutely loved it. Entertaining from beginning to end. Beautifully shot. And so much better presented that the frantic-ness of Bay. It was exactly like a 90's buddy buddy cop action comedy, and that was great because we don't get anything like that now. Action films are either superhero or spy stories. After Ghostbusters: Answer The Call and Men In Black International it was nice to see Sony actually acheive a nostalgia ride that got what was so enjoyable about the originals. Fingers crossed for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
I respect your review but strongly disagree, big fan of the first two but I feel this is the strongest entry in the series and this film is a strong in action and comedy with a compelling narrative for smith and Lawrence
If there was one time I cry for Michael Bay to do, that would be him returning to direct Bad Boys! His Transformer films are shit, but the man DOES know how to do action! Especially when it came to Bad Boys! I was so disappointed that he didn't return for this one. But Bad Boys For Life was still an entertaining movie! I will ALWAYS love the first two! ESPECIALLY THE FIRST ONE! They CAN'T out beat the first one! But even if this is the last Bad Boys movie, I'm glad Martin Lawrence & Will Smith return to do Bad Boys one last time! And the series ended as a trilogy! Bad Boy for life! And Bad Boys FOREVER!
I agree this was a lazy movie wen compared to part 1. If I want deep drama then I watch a Martin scosayse film if I want a high octane movie with fun n explosions then give me Bay.
When’s the laser-disc coming out? How is the packaging in the commemorative limited edition sound track? What is the video game tie-in like in the later levels?
it sucked real bad, it was like a terrible feature length episode of the new Hawaii Five-O. Martin and Will's acting was like they didn't give a single shit about the script.
Nah, movie was excellent. My theater was howling with laughter the whole time. The emotional angle was well done and several of the plot twists were unexpectedly great. Will smith hasn't been this good in a long time and Martin Lawrence really sold not just the comedy but the heart to heart moments as well. The new team AMMO wasn't anything like the newbies from Expendables 3. For one they actually had personalities, second only one of them was poking fun at Mike's age but it never became irritating, third the leader of the team was around the same age as Mike so this old vs new conflict was completely made up by you, fourth one of them was actually a big fan of Mike's(Vanessa Hudgens) as opposed to the blatant disrespect all the newbies showed towards the old guard in EX3 and finally they were actually important to the story and not just shoehorned in. Oh and the argument "I've seen this all before" is a pile of bullshit. So what if you've seen it before? It's all in the execution and this film does a damn good job in that regard. As a film analysis channel I expect better arguments than that.
@Oliver Tho wife and I and my sister will always love your Retro reviews and 15 to 20 minute deep dives, this was a very very fun watch and I hope you add current reviews of films you see and like or dislike on the channel as this was again a very fun watch and you still bring your depth, eye and intelligence to all you do. Thank you for this and all your work we have 90% loved :)
the first bad big movie of 2020. the new arab-belgian duo directors didn't bring anything new that michael bay already did (hence bay turned down bbfl as he knew it would stink). next bad movies are no time to die (has embarrassment and d.o.a written all over it), mobius, invisible man, sonic, even dune.
Just saw this movie a day ago. A decent movie for entertainment, but I have another thought after seeing it. The story, the action scenes, funny conversations, the music, and took place in Miami. Now combine all of that together and I can imagine a new GTA 6 video game with today graphics plus a whole remodeled and expanded Vice City map (just like GTA 5's map compared to GTA SA's map).
Oliver, I respectfully disagree!! It was better than two for certain!!! And for those getting on Martin's case about weight .... As you get older, you gain weight, it is what you about it that makes the difference. I think after his health scare around 1997 or so, he may have cut back on physical activity. But we may never know
Found your Enemy Mine video from 2012 and subscribed. Glad to see the channel is still active. Sometimes when you find an old video that you like, the channel has been dead for years.
Honestly tripping out over how people actually enjoyed this hot piece of garbage. Seen-it-all-before storyline, bad cinematography, horrible soundtrack, wired pacing, boring action, not funny...I can go on forever.
I’m actually quite looking forward to seeing it great video as usual mate I was thinking what’s the chances of a Reign of fire retrospective at some point would like to see that
The first two are better and funnier certainly. But Bad Boys 3 is certainly a excellent action comedy in its own right, with a far better story this time. The magic is without a doubt still there. This third movie kind of reminds me in terms of not quite as good but still great fun, as say Die Hard 4 to the first three movies, or Batman Forever to the two Burton movies, or Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 to the first two movies. What i mean is BB3 was really good without a doubt, but cannot quite match the first two movies, if that all makes sense.
I must say I totally disagree with you on this one. I was thoroughly entertained, loved the banter and jokes as well. Part one is still the best and is an awesome movie, especially the soundtrack. However in this day in age, I think this movie mixed the old and new very nicely. They kept the jokes on going from the first and second movie and that was great fan service to people like me who have been waiting for another “Bad Boys” for years. Yes , I do wish the second and third films were more like the first one... Gritty and raw, but with different people you will get a different movie. I hate the idea that a sequel has to up the ante from the original. No, it doesn’t... Not always at least. A bigger budget should mean more control and depth and attention to detail and continuity... Not just making it flashy or over the top. My two cents...
Considering Oliver is an 80's, 90's action movie junky, yet he doesn't like the bad boys franchise. Oliver must be getting tired and old at this point just like Martin Laurance's character in bad boys. 😁
I went to watch this..and thought it was just ok.. not great.. for me the weaker of the 3..I think they left it way to long to make..I think it should have been directed by Michael Bay and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The way will smith gets shot 3 or 4 times in the chest and some how lives Lol. Having The AMMO squad was a bit pointless really. The bad guys mother the WITCH was a little stupid.
@OliverHarper overall I’m enjoying your review of this. But I haven’t seen any of the Bad Boys movies. Though I’ve written this in the comment section before but. Would you still do a retrospective of Lovely Bones?
Felt too much of a Fast and Furious movie, like it's a competent movie, but it's not memorable sleezy thrash of Bayhem, the setpieces are not as unforgettable as 2. Still better gender politics and no cheap gay panic gags

Agree with the review based on the trailers and watching the previous entries the series was done after 2 this feels like Zoolander 2 too little too late
I liked the movie way more than Bad Boys 2. I love the original Bad Boys and felt pretty satisfied after watching this one. Totally agree with you on the score. I’m was very disappointed that they didn’t bring back Mancina. It felt like the filmmakers made a conscious effort to pay homage (fan service at times) to the original film with elements such as the guy who marries Marcus’s daughter and the club entrance scene. Oh well, I guess we’re just a couple of old movie farts who just want it like it was before 😂
I still know that the plot revolves around Kat de Castillos Character she obviously in that split second I saw her in this Quick Scenes she is the Cartel Madam Mexican Mafia Female Villain? And let me guess?! Mike Lowry (Will Smith Character perspectively) had relationship with the Latina Villain then as Result a Woman Scorned because she wanted him. Okay and What happened to his relationship with Marcus Burnnetts sister from bad boys 2! See this is what makes me frustrated about these Films no Continuity no reasonable Tie-in or a reasonable exposition from happened to tie-in to this film! To me Will smith Mike Lowry Storyline so far Fetched that he is able to have relationship with an organized Crime Mexican Mafia Female like Kate de Castillos Character. Seems very Much a stretch I don't understand its that much a spoiler I'll just Stick to part 1 of Bad Boys 1995 I prefer it To Martin's Show instead of Wills I think they really emasculated Marcus aka Martin Lawrence in this. Shawn Payne Well said. The film knows it’s an action/comedy/drama franchise, so I don’t get why Oliver says it doesn’t know what it wants to be. However, I do agree with Ollie when he says the soundtrack meets the minimum requirements. Mark Mancina’s 1995 score makes me feel like I was there in Miami. I hope Sony brings him back for No. 4 since it’s already been given the go-ahead on pre-production. While I have other nitpicks, ‘Bad Boys for Life’ has everything I want in a sequel: 1. Also I don’t understand how will smith had a full blown Mexican kid wish the story line was different and wayyyyy to many additional characters
Correct that statement about a full blown Mexican kids, because I have a sister who is white with the only sign she has any black in her is that she has the curvy shape of all the women in my family, my dad even had a DNA test done to confirm if she was really his and she was if I showed her to u, you would say that's a full blown white girl with her body done.
@@jojosmooth999 In terms of filmmaking qualities, I don't really like the first 2, especially the 2nd one. I'm not a fan of the juvenile humour that Michael Bay relied on the heavily and poorly edited action sequences with it's shaky cams and cinematography, the script for both are pretty weak, the villains aren't very memorable in the first 2. I'm thankful for the films though as it helped Martin Lawrence and Will Smith's career and showed they could do action as well as comedy films. I'm thankful for the films though as it helped Martin Lawrence and Will Smith's career and showed they could do action as well as comedy films. Especially thankful as Will Smith has done some great things since being a rapper and starring and being in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
You can't expect Arabs from Belgium (aka the Islamic State of Belgium) to put out good films.
In my cinemasins voice, That's racist.
