There's something about watching a big dog and a little kitten playing so gently. That Shepherd loves his little buddy.

My last German Shepard slept with and kept warm my 20year old cat in the last weeks of his life with the cat dying in the arms of the dog. Anyone who came near the cat would get a grumble from the dog as he moved tighter around to protect the cat.
They Understand emotions more than materialistic humans.. We all can learn from them.. Gentle creatures

Hopefully science will find a solution to the problem of aging and then things like that can be avoided from then on. Would have to take very great care to prevent overpopulation though, 99.9% of the animals would have to be neutered, and humans too.

Sorry for your loss and for your dogs loss too. I've lost a few pets myself and it's never something you can get used to. 😓

My first dog as a child was a German Shepard. We were inseparable. I remember burying my face in his neck fur and falling asleep with him most nights. I wouldn't spend a moment away from him and he wouldn't let anyone we didn't know near me. I miss him every day of my life, even over two decades later.
I was at a friends house one night and spent the night there. They have a mini Yorkie and a German Shepard and the Yorkie didn't like the Shepard, so they usually have them separated all the time. I woke up to the Yorkie wanting outside, not realizing the Shepard was out there and the next thing I know the Yorkie is going after the Shepard. I kept yelling for him to come back, but never did and since the Shepard was so scared he came up to hide behind me till the owners came out to see what all the noise was about and the Yorkie gets real close, the Shepard goes and gets in front of me as if he were protecting me from Diezel and this Shepard barely knew me, but liked me enough to protect me.

I hear you, mate. My 2nd GSD service dog is old & retiring. My 1st girl barked at her for a year straight. The 2nd girl, when I harnessed her performed without skip, as my health got worse, she knew how care for me. The MRI/medical staff @hospital, still ask "is that the same dog"?

I had forgotten about this upload and indeed this account (it was originally just uploaded for family and friends really)!
Reading through the comments it's been absolutely touching to see how many appreciate my boy and the GSD breed in general.... more so again on how many have commented on how much we can learn from the simple / instinctive loving interaction between two animals.
To update (07/07/2017), Skye the GSD and BOTH cats are alive and well and very happily living in harmony :-)

Boy this little kitty has a wonderful adoptive parent.
A GSD's gentleness can't be overstated. My Beare is around 115lbs and has played with kittens, small puppies and ferrets. Never got too rough. He also has interacted with a bunny, and even guinea pigs without once harming them. His sister Lily is a Shiba inu, and they wrestle frequently without her being hurt.
Best dogs ever. Gentle and smart, I wish humans could combine these characteristics as he ..

Exactly. I grew up with German Shepherds. In my opinions, they are the best dogs, followed closely by Golden Retrievers. One of the cutest puppies I've ever seen was a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix.
They're the favorite dog breed for police departments, and are consistently on the top five of favorite dog breed lists.
I disagree, half of GS are nutters.I never trust the breed.
Used to love German Shepherds until I adopted an ex-racing Greyhound. He was the sweetest and gentlest dog, lived with three of my kitties--and was the bottom one on the totem pole despite his size :-)

The American bred German Shepherd from show dog lines are so crippled up it makes me sick. They have bred them to have sloping rears and it looks like hip dysplasia just waiting to happen. This dog looks great.
@@blackmore4 yes, I'm proud of him for his temperament, not his lines. I love any animal regardless of where they come from or their 'lines' and used to work for a rescue center, my cats and all other animals I've had have all been rescued. I was replying to the question regarding lines as many people take an interest in the posture of this breed because of potential health problems with hip dysplasia and such

My German Shepherd/Chow ADORED my kittens! They would crawl all over him.
I have on more than one occasion and it is absolutely beautiful. Years ago I had a lab doberman mix who fell in love with my son's little black and white tuxedo kitten. Now my youngest daughter has a pitbull a little over a year old who happens to be in love with my granddaughters Tortoise shell cat. The dog will stand between the cat and whomever is trying to call the cat over and if what someone's petting the dog's head the cat will stand and give that person the stink eye.
It doesnt get sweeter than this......Bonded for life....☺

They get along really well in most households. It usually works better if you get a dog first, and when the dog is around three get a kitten.
As long as you socialize them in the early age of the dog, most likely they will get along well together. There are many videos on this you can see on You Tube channels.

I've had two Tuxedo cats (black with white chest, belly and paws). They tend to be very intelligent and quite mischievous and a lot of fun.
I rescued a little tuxedo kitty who weighed almost 30 pounds. I put him on a healthy diet and he got down to around 24 pounds. He was still a big boy, but every ounce of him was filled with love. His name was Buddy who I called Luv Buds. He was the sweetest boy ever but he sure was funny too! He used to try to hide under the cushions on the couch, only there's no hiding a cat that size anywhere! He also used to try to fit in cardboard boxes that were much smaller than him. He was so funny! And I miss him so much! We had a lot of great years together.

Michael Hughes my sister had one and he didn't know me and i was playing with my niece and he attacked my face... i hated that cat but my sister had to move a couple of years later as needed us to watch him for a while... honestly i felt like kicking the shit out of him but I'm not mean, i offered him a truce and let him out of the kennel.. within days we were best buds, he was huge by that time and he loved to lay on my belly, but it was more like straddling because of how big he was... i miss Zorro

GSD's are just amazing. My late Carla loved playing with my 2 cats. She met both when they became part of the family as kittens ( a few years apart ) and cuddled, groomed and played with them in such a gentle manner. I miss her dearly. Your video brought back such memories. Thank you.

I have to admit I've never been a M. Jackson fan, and never really paid attention to the lyrics of this song, but in the context of this beautifully made video, it was just perfect. OK - a little sappy, MAYBE- but these are animals - fellow mammals, in fact, and we mammals are capable of deeper things than mere survival. This is a German Shepherd falling in love with a little pussy cat, just as the title says; there would seem to be no way to refute that. But it's also a little pussycat falling in love with a German Shepherd. With a cat, the emotion is not quite as deep on one level- the very young cat is forming an affectionate allegiance. Those 2 definitely have each other's backs.
I agree with you 99 % except the part about the emotion not being quite as deep with the cat, it just plays out differently. All depends upon the relationship you have formed with the cat, you get out of it what you put into it. I'm a dog and cat person, and I have had deep emotional relationships with a few cats, incl. the male I have had now for 6 yr.s - raised him from a week old, bottle fed, etc. Of course a cat isn't as likely to protect a human, but they are prey animals so they always have to be wary., my little buddy and I are very bonded. When I was in the hospital for 6 wk.s, my husband said he pined for me. I have seen cats be very protective of human babies - solo sweet !

Awwwww, how sweet he is. He follows the kitty around every where. I wish the kitten felt the same for the dog. Ohhh, now there's two kitties. It seems like large dogs are so much more patient and calm around cats oppose to smaller dogs. Small dogs are so much more rambunctious and aggressive towards cats. I know my Shihpoo is. If my lil dog saw a cat she would chase it until she catches it and then would play roughly not gently.

C'mon peeps! This is exactly why we have pets. They are child like and the love frequency rings in our hearts and reminds us of how sweet it is in its simplicity. It can calm us and lowers blood pressure, makes us laugh and smile. They are Good. What blessings they are.
